  1. Probably a good read of the guide once again, paying attention to every detail and page would help. Even if you don't know anything, just following that guide to-the-word will result in you having a nice and well-done disk.
  2. @kevLEE You are trying to do too many things at once. That invariably results in a problem which you are unable to trouble-shoot. Do it one at a time: - Slip-stream - unattended - multi-boot
  3. If you are referring to today's multi-GHz speed monsters, let me point you in the direction of today's 120,160,200 GB hard-disks, and DVD-writers And also see the 2nd point I'd said in prev. post above - that will tell you that from a uA setup CD stand-point (where you want more space on CD), UPX is not useful.
  4. I'd say don't add QBFC. Because its a commercial tool.

Wraith, looks like we all want to benefit, but none contribute... If I'm right, these scrshots are to get people to test Xplode4 - but nope! Everyone oohs and aahs, but no ones standing up to test. (I'd have helped to test with Svr2k3, but my excuse is ready... IRC is blocked by my ISP)
  6. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove ProgramsAll hot-fixes/updates (and other programs) that you installed will be listed there.
  7. Nice, but keep this in mind: 1. A UPX'ed file will run slower. 2. If you will anyway RAR/7zip some file, then don't UPX it (because that will lead to recursive compression, thereby increasing total file size). For example, if RARing a file of 6 MB makes it deflate to 3.5 MB, UPXing that file and then RARing it will result in 4 MB (i.e., not as small as it could have been if directly RAR'ed).
  8. @EMKAY Hey, here's exactly what you might be looking for... You will have a huge saving of time too in your case, if you follow the reducing size of source method by gosh. Of course, he refers to a CD.... you should make use of such instructions in the context of your install from HD.
  9. Alanoll, if that's what he wants, I'd hazard a guess he wants to look into the ShellNew keys.
  10. This should do it: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\msconfig] @="Microsoft Configurator" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\msconfig\command] @="msconfig.exe"

    Oh my god! *faints*
  12. I guess, by "quack" he means throw up some problems. @DKRendeR You can replace the resources, but you shouldn't remove it altogether. Plus, don't forget to "modifype -c" the winntbbu.dll.
  13. I'm afraid those words are not very clear... When you right-click a folder, you can open a CMD window. So how ELSE do you intend to have it open?
  14. The main autorun function is governed by this: [autorun] open=setup.exe All of the others are additional options that become available on a right-click of the drive.
  15. See Screensaver settings and Power Options. Is it staight forward , or I have to be aware of some issue? Its pretty straight forward, assuming that you know how your disk is partitioned and you know how a boot-loader works.
  16. sam2539, welcome to MSFN forum Well, I don't know what installation of MainConcept has to do with WIHU... (wihu is a utility for unattended installs) * Moving thread to "Software Hangout" section, where you might get a better response.
  17. You'd do well to give the context here.... Do you want to make a page refresh, as in: a. A web developer who is making pages for his audience ---OR--- b. A normal user visiting pages, and wants to auto-refresh. If its (a), then check-out java-script sites, or even use the page-redirect function in HTML head to keep re-loading the page. If its (B) use an IE shell, like Maxthon or Avant which gives you such features.
  18. He's referring to the fact that the "Enter" key (which will "click" default Yes or Install button in any spyware dialog box) does a lot of damage. USE COMMON SENSE is the best protection, has been heard a lot, but I'd say the minimum you should do is have an anti-virus with updated defs. That's pretty much all you need, to stay safe. If you're literate, you will recognize spam and spyware. If you have SP2, the firewall is pretty good. Only thing left out, is the Anti-Vir. So yeah, even an old one (so that your system doesn't get bogged down) is perfectly fine (like NAV2002).
  19. An SP upgrade is always messy.... Slip-stream SP2 into your XP disk, and re-install windows.
  20. The MS disk (OPK) has all the info you need. If you don't have that, then you can use a variant of winPE called bartPE, available here - http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
  21. Its easy enough, just use something like PartitionMagic to merge both partitions. But JoeMSFN was telling you about the potential pit-falls of doing that. Moreover, having multiple partitions used for different purposes will increase overall speed of the system (besides making you less vulnerable to an all-out virus wipe-out).
  22. So what's the problem here! It looks like IE is perfectly fine, you have some non-existent site as your home-page. If IE really is playing truant, then you can browse straight off from windows explorer address-bar.
  23. Depends on how the PC detects the PS2? lol, remember how windows detected gamehead's paper-clip?
  24. How'd you go about it? First you'd do a search rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %systemdrive%\install\FILE_NAME_HERE.inf(that's a single-line, no line-break in between) That's how you'd do it, from the command-line.
  25. Haha... its five-to-one now Q. Anyone using WinME happily? A. Yup, myself. I use WinME for older machines not powerful enough for XP. I feel its more stable and faster than 98/98se. And since I have done both (been strict with no app-installs, and also gone crazy with a million utils installed) and in both times winME handled just fine.
