  1. This passed weekend there was a fire at a fairly old building here in Brampton. This building was built around the turn of the century. Luckily there wasn't too much damage to this historic building. I was on my way home from my grandparents place and we saw the whole thing happen. My dad had his camera with him and he shot a movie of the building. Unfortuneately, we weren't close enough to catch the whole thing very well, but we did get something. Anyway, if you guys wanna see more on it, you can read up on it here. on my site. Thankfully no one was hurt in this whole thing.
  2. i wouldnt know iv only seen raptor drives on the net, plus theyre really expensive
  3. scary lol jk jk
  4. i respect your opinion, but i find that XP is quite suitable for what i do. for some reason, when running win98, my network card would always cause me problems and cause my router to actually crash and need to be rebooted. but with xp on the same machine, its much more stable. i never have problems with my router now and my laptop actually seems to last longer on battery. i dont know how thats possible, but it does. i beleive that stability, for the most part, is usually dependent on hardware. some computers handle 98 better than they handle anything else (my compaq armada 1700 is this way) and some handle XP better (my inspiron 7000) its really personal preference when it comes to using a certain OS, but for the most part, imo i think that XP is the best for me. it might not be the best for other people, just for software or hardware support. i like what i can do with windows XP on my laptops, and i like how it runs. sure, it takes a little while to boot up and shut down, but to be honest, with XP on my 366 laptop, i dont notice that big of a difference in performance between 98 and xp. they boot the same and pretty much overall, run the same. but i still like XP better because it seems to handle my hardware better than 98. plus i just like the new look with XPize great program. anyway, thats my opinion, and i respect yours. windows 98 was a good OS for when it came out, but i always did have a suspicion that MS kinda pushed it out the door too quick. but anyhoo, if you like 98, great, more power too ya. but id like to stick with XP. my OEM dell cds that i bought dont need to be activated , so i just install and im good to go. plus, with the great program nLite, it now makes installing them on my laptops so much faster. -brian
  5. lmao i just read through this entire thing and i gotta say its pretty funny. all you guys do great impersonations of him. i dont think hes gonna reply though just because he finally figured out he was coming off as a prick i guess. id have to agree with you vinodh, this is a volunteer help site. if he was maybe paying you guys a handsome amount (which im sure hes not) then i could see him being angry, but not right after the first post. oh well, its unfortuneate, but your going to run into people like him all the time. i myself have seen these people all over brampton. theyre everywhere for some reason. why cant people just be nice? msfn has to be the most polite forum iv ever been registered at. hands down. but anyway, ebrahimm im sure you can find a decent theme on google. i found a few, hundred. theres tons of them out there right now, theres no reason you cant get one you like. i personally like this one a lot, which grafx1 posted. i might just use it myself. -brian
  6. lol now i wanna try that. i just need to find a laptop hdd thats bad.
  7. hmm... if they start to do that, i may just break em. they feel like they may shatter like glass, just by the sound they make. i think im starting to get an ear infection. its weird, but vicks usually can help it, if you put it in the ear early enough
  8. hmmm... will do, but do you know what kind of metal are those things made out of?
  9. dang, really? they lose their shininess? oh well, im sure i could find another one at school
  10. right now i personally have 5, a desktop and 4 laptops. one laptop doesn't work though. so its really just a parts computer. but all in all, in my house we have 10 computers in the house. 6 laptops and 4 desktops. the laptops are nothing to right home about, the best one we have is the one im using right now, an inspiron 7000 with a 15 inch display and a pII 366 with a 40gb drive. the rest of the laptops are below 366. we have 3 laptops with the same processor , 366, then 2 with a PII 233, then 1 with a P1 166 ( ) but all these computers were found or bought really cheap. the latest one we picked up was a Latitude CPi with a PII 366 and 128mb ram and a 12gb drive. the thing wasnt working at all, so we bought it for 35 bucks because it had a good battery and it was in good shape. (parts computer) so we found out what was wrong with it and fixed it. a little plug had come of the board and now we're using it. my dad loves it, it runs good for its age. anyway, thats what we have here. -brian
  11. well, my girlfriend left me. thats all im willing to say.
  12. for the most part, i use windows xp pro sp2. on my desktop, its xp pro sp2 on my insprion 7000 with a 15 inch display, its xp pro sp2 on my inspiron 7000 with a 14 inch display, its 98 se on my armada 1700, it has 98 se i dont use my desktop or armada 1700 much anymore, i mainly use the inspiron 7000 with the 15 inch display. im always using it, just because its mobile and fast i guess. but meh, it suites me perfectly.
  13. mp3s are always gonna be a higher number because well... yah.... anyway, heres what i have: about 50 cds and well over 1300 songs on my computer. lol kool, my 123 post o_O weird, but kool
  14. my parents have rogers hi-speed lite here. its pretty decent, 20 bucks a month for 1mbps dl and 128kbps upload. its very good for what i do, just browse the net and dl stuff. we got it split on a wifi network for everyone here at the house. i can be anywhere in the house with my laptop and log onto the forums i love the forms keeps me company when theres no one around, this summer is gonna be boring.
  15. im 16, been driving for a while now too, man its so weird to drive o.O
  16. i can hear it, but jeeze, a cell phone ring? i would never answer my phone. man thats dumb. no one would answer their phones. not necessarily saying its a bad thing. i hate when i hear a kids cell phone ring. im only 16 and yet, i still think to myself, who the hell is calling you that is so important that you need a phone? and this is in class, with which i totally disagree. then when the teachers try to take the phones away, they freak and get mad and stuff. its usually funny, but still very annoying when your writing an exam. way off topic, but im just thinking back to this morning during my science exam lol. man i hope that kid fails the course.
  17. im not just sympathising, but i have to agree with link21 for the most part. XP and 2000 and 2003 are so much better. just in the fact that are more stable, i like them. they not only perform better, but they handle the hardware better. my inspiron 7000 laptop, under windows 98, doesnt have the power to run WMP with a visulization at full screen, but under XP it works so much better and stuff. plus, the game red faction runs under 2000/XP, but under 98/ME it just barely gets passed the first level without me gettin irritated and just shuttin it down. so, id have to say that XP is by far the best for the home user, not in the fact that looks nicer, but that it performs better and that its stable. with windows 98, id have trouble just gettin my network working. anyway, so .... idk lol. i like XP, but on some computers, you just have to run what they were designed for, even if that means .... 98.... o_O id much rather run XP if i can though, also it makes older computers seem worth keeping lol. anyway, thats just me. -brian
  18. sounds like a very promising service pack, when it comes out, im for sure testing it. keep up the great work, its guys like you that keep people in business. (by helping people with older stuff) let us know of any new stuff when you get a chance. thanks again -brian
  19. that would be an awsome installation cd. hopefully we can maybe work together on this and make one. ill get back if i find anything out. -brian
  20. i got both platters out, its kool cuz those things are just metal and very shiny i like shiny things. anyway, i got the 2 parts out and now my mom is gonna make a clock outa them. good use for a dead 2gb hdd eh?
  21. heres one piece of software i found, however its quite expensive. 65 bucks is a bit more than i would spend. ill keep looking, who knows i might find a freeware one. just as i pushed the add reply button, i found this one. it says its free, and you can enable or disable the close button by pushing Ctrl + 1 on the keyboard. might want to check that one out. -brian
  22. im thinking in downgrading my dell laptop from XP to 98. its an inspiron 7000 with a pII 366 with 384mb of ram and an 8mb ATi Rage video Controller. i know this computer is more than up to the task, but i wanted to know if it was possible to "slipstream " the 98SE SP2 into it? that and all kinds of updates and stuff, like IE 6, also using the windows98lite thingy to change the Shell to the older, sleeker faster 95 gui? i would just like to know if its possible and if you know of it, a guide on how to? if not, then maybe we can work together and build a 98 SE "ultimate" edition or what not. maybe its already been done, i cant find it. im going to keep searching on google though, let me know what you know. thanks for reading. -brian
  23. it must be something to do with the forums here, because i posted it in an html document and that worked.
  24. lol already did, i screwed up my brothers backup memory key though ps, anyone know why "forummer" in this link gets changed to "spamer"? and i mean forummer with one "m" http://brian10161.18.spammer.com/index.php...=0entry27 this thing is annoying, this forummer thing i mean.
  25. check this out. i ripped the hard drive in my brothers computer apart. -brian
