    BSOD

that looks a lot like the error i was getting. what are you doing when it happens? for me, it was when i was listening to music.
  3. nope, 16 got my drivers permit too, going to get my G2 on december 5th
  4. not true for me, im 16. i agree with Fridge-RaideR. he has the right idea. everyone uses the browser they like/prefer. i for one, like using Opera. firefox is great for my desktop, opera is great for my laptop. simply put. no need for in-depth info on it. im unsubscribing from this thread because im tired of software/forum based wars on what stuff is better.
  5. just tried imageshack too, works perfectly fine.
  6. AIM 5.9 works fine, my friends showed up online and convos worked fine nLite works fine, no problems Nero 7.0 works just fine too, had a few burner problems, but XP did it too Winamp works fine, works fine, my sound kept causing bluescreens though iTunes works fine, works fine, my sound kept causing bluescreens though SmartFTP works fine, no problems what so ever. this was as of vista 5536, so it was Pre-RC1, but i don't see why they won't work with RC-1.
  7. well, what can i say? everyone has their own tastes. oh, heres some stuff that i did just now. im surprised, opera is using less resources than before now O_o opera and firefox at startup: opera and firefox with 4 tabs open: dont get me wrong, i like firefox and opera, but i will use opera on my older computers. thats all. i use firefox on my desktop
  8. I really wish people wouldn't express their personal opinions as if they were facts... but that's just me. so true, that bugs me when people do that. the original question is really left up to the end user. use what you want, but there is truth to what a lot of people are saying. FireFox is slower than Opera. not that its slower internet wise, i mean slower computer wise. it uses between 20 and 100mb of ram on my laptop. thats a bit much for a web broser. IE only uses 4 or 5. im still in the process of testing Opera, but so far, its a lot better, only pushing 30mb when iv been browsing a lot and i have 2 windows open.
  9. yah, thats how im using opera. no tabs, and i love it. so much screen space, and its fast.
  10. i just dont feel the need for it. i only do one thing at a time on my machine, i really only browse one website at a time too, so im good. 1024x768 is more than enough room to browse the net.
  11. man this poll got messed up i made the poll, yet spazmire11 is at the top
  12. Well, how long does your battery last in your laptop? mine has been going for 6 hours now
  13. lol 13 minutes? thats the way this comp was before i got a good battery for it. what speed is the K6-2? my dad has a toshiba satellite 366 amd and it gets less than 2 hours on a battery. bad computer he got though. terrible display my dad got 2 batteries free, and now they both last altogether 6 hours and 30 minutes. i started off at 8:30 this morning, doing quite a lot of stuff. not bad for a 7 year old laptop (dell inspiron 7000)
  14. try booting from the cd. you can install it as a full version, not just on top of a copy of windows.
  15. i like opera. i need a browser thats fast and efficient. i have a 366, so firefox takes forever to load. i dont like tabbed browsing, i rather it in the taskbar simply because im use to it that way.
  16. Im trying to locate this theme: http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&id=23 the theme on the windows in the IE6 download thingy there, i thought i remembered seeing it on windowblinds and being called "blackcomb" but i cant find it anywhere. the most i can find are screenshots. anyone know where it is?
  17. im using windows defender on my school laptop (school policy or something ) and its running fine on my super fast 366 i have a feeling it will eventually expire, but ill keep using it till its done. then move on to whatever is next i guess.
  18. well, not much but heres mine. its just my school laptop, so theres not much on it just so i have the speed of the wondeful 366 i modified the explorer.exe file a bit to put the windows vista start button icon in, the default XP one was starting to look kinda weird. edit: changed a few things clean: dirty:
  19. well, my father has had XP home installed on a toshiba laptop for over 3 years now and not once has he had a virus or any form of malware on his computer. he uses the admin account. so it depends on what you do on the computer. if your going to all kinds of bad/untrusted sites/searching all over, your going to get nailed eventually.
  20. no, its ok. i believe you. im just trying to tell you that not all computers have stereo mics. thats all.
  21. this post is getting off topic if you ask me. i know i started this, but i was correcting something that you said. anyway, look at this: i have a stereo cable with a 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA connections on it and i tried using this to record to my desktop through the line-in (the line-in was blown on my desktop so i tried MIC) the mic port was MONO.
  22. mine isnt stereo, on all 4 of my laptops, and all my desktop computers that i have access too. perhaps your thinking of the Auxillary in? last time i checked, a microphone is mono.
  23. i dont think hes re-recording, he wants to transcode (lossy to lossy) you can change bitrate, but you must re-encode. using razor lame, you can do this as it lets you use an input mp3 to goto an mp3 (IE: 320kbps down to 128kbps) microphones are usually mono, not stereo. so trying to record with that sounds funny. i reccomend using the line-in and just setting the volume in the right area (playing with it will get you the right input volume.) iv converted many records to cd. (100 or so) so i know these things
  24. razorlame is pretty good. its free, uses the best mp3 encoder imo, and itll convert mp3 to mp3, wav to mp3 and vice versa. http://www.dors.de/razorlame/index.php you just need the lame encoder which you can get here: http://lame.jthz.com/ (download 3.96.1)
