  4. thanks but:
  5. iv been looking for some information on LED's, just how the different colors are produced. For instance a clear LED producing red light and green light. the reason being, my dad got a clock that projects the time on the ceiling and so far we have gone through 5 of them, and everyone of them, the Green Light died. The red one however (for the temperature) kept working. the green one seems to go dim, and bright and go back and forth constantly. im interested in certain things , like what produces the different colors, whether it be gases or special plastics or something. iv searched on wikipedia and howstuffworks.com to no avail. thanks in advanced -cygnus
  6. i use dbpoweramp with the "Tag from filename" utility added. it does a great job, as long as your songs are named something "AC/DC - Hells Bells" or something (ie. it has the Artist - Track Name) then you can put those 2 peices of info in. If you have more info in the file name, for instance "AC/DC 01 - Back in Black - Hells Bells" (ie. Artist, Track Number, Album, Song Title) then you can put a lot of info in. i use the dbpoweramp one in conjunction with 1-4a rename (google it ) both great peices of software that mak mp3 tagging fast and easy.
  7. thanks guys i got it working perfectly, now i shall test it at school during careers class
  8. thank you, is this software for windows? i cant seem to find it anywhere
  9. any one know of a decent proxy server, thats free? need one for school
  10. thats product ID not product KEY product key is usually "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" 25 characters
  11. did you delete the main hdd partition and create a new one, thus starting from scratch? if not, try that. that will wipe the drive clean and it should allow you to finish installing xp.
  12. iv been watching for this topic for sometime now, really glad its all sorted out. i saw some of the other stuff seven alive has done, not my taste. i gotta agree with bledd on this one lol, all this over a logon. its funny how things can happen. the guy wasnt even charging for his anyway but i do respect that he has the right to govern his work... even if its not mostly his...(MS made the royale theme (i think) and you don't see them complaining) anyway, glad to see its all sorted out. looking forward to downloading and trying it it looks like its off to bed for me
  13. simple math can solve this [math code] 2000/XP + nLite = Heaven Vista = good to some + bad to others so, therefore PC = what user does to it [/math code]
  14. your best bet would be to do a fresh install (never have been a fan of upgrading, it leaves a lot of useless stuff behind, that and it hinders system performance. i.e, you won't get the full experience of XP) but... the problem with doing that, is you'll lose all of your programs/documents you had previously. if you need more help on getting the process going, post back and i'll see what i can do for you
  15. well, windows 95/98/me had it in the registry, but for those of us on 2000/xp its elsewhere. heres a utility to view the key on 2000/XP (it works on other os's too) http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml unfortuneatly, i wouldn't know the first place to start when making a program, but i hope that program is of help
  16. basically, it all comes down to your hardware (speed or chipset) running windows on 2 computers both with the same speed hardware, but different chipsets (IE a P4 1.8ghz and an Athlon 1.8ghz) the two computers can act totally different. for instance, my compaq armada 1700 handles windows 9x amazingly (very speedy given its specs, PII 233 64mb ram) on the other hand, my dell inspiron 7000's (PII 366, 256/384mb ram) which were both designed for win98, run it terribly. very slow, and took forever to boot up. both of those laptops handle 2000/XP amazingly well given their specs. currently, i run 4 machines all running NT based OS's. the first being my desktop, an AMD Athlon XP 1800 with 640MB of ram. XP runs on that just fine, does what i need. my 2 dell inspiron 7000's are currently both running an OEM copy of XP pro SP2 and they both handle it perfectly fine. for what i do anyway. they start up in under a minute (which is more than acceptable imo) my compaq armada 1700 being the last one, its currently running windows 2000 nLited. the original install cd is 83mb and the default install is under 300mb (excluding page file and hibernation file) when it starts, it uses roughly 28mb of ram, sometimes can go below 26 depending on what im doing. the only drawback to this computer, is the screen size. being 800 by 600, it leaves a lot to be desired in the way of screen space. anyway, it really depends on the computer model you have, what you want to do, and how intensive you will be on the computer. ME imo, was an alright os. sure it had it's flaws, but hey, what OS doesn't? i never had any major problems with it, but then again, i don't do too much on my computers. all i do, is internet, IM, and E-mail (and the odd game or two) ill stick with the NT based OS's right now because i have made a lot of advances in handling/tweaking them. but, if you want an all around, fast os, use windows 98SE with the USP2. if your a little bit more advanced, give nLite and windows 2000 SP4 a try. you'll be surprised with what you can acheive.
  17. i dont know what you mean by validate, whether it be if the key will install windows or it will activate, either way im sure that its illegel.
  18. thank you! i will be looking for this diligently over the next few days, if i find it, i will host it and post the link here (if thats ok, but seeing as the original author has removed his site, i don't think it will be that bad)
  19. winamp now works with my creative zen nano plus mp3 player quite well actually, i can sync it now. before it wouldn't even see it
  20. thanks for the reply the 2 first links look like the one i want, but they don't work with Firefox 1.5.0.7 >_< the 3rd link is for the one i got from firefox themes website and i didnt really like that one because it didn't change the toolbar right. doesn't show the text, or some of the icons i want but can't have without the "more buttons" pack that was on the original site. ill keep looking
  21. recently, i reloaded my laptop and i wanted to make firefox look like IE and i found out the site is dead anyway, i was looking on the firefox themes webpage and theres no good firefox ie themes, there was really only 1 that looked of interest, but it didnt work right. it was missing icons and a few other things. i was wondering if anyone knew if there was perhaps a mirror of the below site, im really surprised that this site is gone. http://www.bamm.gabriana.com/ieskinxp.html if anyonw has any info, id be interested in it, thanks in advance
  22. seen it so many times but i still lmao
  23. works just fine for me thanks again nuhi!
  24. iv been seeing a lot of these posts lately and ill say what i have been thinking about them in this post. iv been using XP/98 for ages. theyre both good os's, but out of the 2 i will always go to XP just because it handles my hardware better (i.e. giving me better performance out of my video card than 98 can provide) but i like 98 for its implicity. i dont think 98 will die anytime soon, with the gigantic user base here at msfn that still use 98, people will be using it for i say, 4 or 5 more years. nothing wrong with either OS imo, infact, at school when i use my XP/98 powered laptop, people often wonder why it runs so fast and handles a lot of stuff very well giving its age
  25. just read the changelog, man you really out did yourself this time! keep it up! great program ^_^
