  1. this is gonna take a while >_< i didnt realize it was going to be so hard!
  2. packing, have it done soon, i hope.
  3. i may be able to pack it, send it my way if you could?
  4. heres a good vista theme. if you want the wallpapers let me know and i can send em to you. that was the one thing i liked about vista. the wallpapers are beautiful. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/27363349/ make sure to exract this rar file to "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\" to answer your question, you could have the files in the wrong place, check and make sure that all the files are in the above directory for the original theme posted here.
  5. my mom said im not allowed to talk to you anymore.
  6. ok, fine i will say it. i do not need vista, its too much for a guy like me. all i need is internet and email. rather just want, dont need it as theres more to life than computers. before, when you said i was a lier? that hurt my feelings so heres some proof for you that my computer does boot in a minute including boot post (more 1:04 or 1:05 or so). (not tweaked or anything. just loaded all my software on it and stuff) not bad for 7 or 8 year old computer (unsure of the manufacturer's date, but it was shipped early 99) http://s113.photobucket.com/albums/n227/br...nt=SUNP0001.flv
  7. this computers battery was fully charged and it wouldnt start either. nor on a/c power. just sat there. if you pressed on the q key on the keyboard, and held it long enough, it would boot, then you could let go and it would be alright. but some systems would start to shutdown then it would eventually just shut off or give you a protection error. open the computer and see if theres any components actually missing from the board. the plug on this one had to have like 100 connectors on it.
  8. why cant you just let this crap go? vista is for some, and not the others (i fall in the others market because why the hell should I have to upgrade every 5 years when my 9 year old laptop does just what i want? all i do is email, internet and IM. i dont need a friggin 7gb OS to do that. hell, i dont even need XP, but i choose to run XP on this computer because it is the best OS for it. the average user doesnt need a computer with a 7gb os on it, and if you ask me, windows xp is more usable os than vista. christ, vista asks if you wish to open control panel, what the hell is that? i was installing the driver for my network card (which didnt work i know because its in beta testing and stuff) and i was prompted 7 times if i wanted to install the **** driver. i got so fed up with all this protection crap. this is my bird, she likes XP, see? oh and im not shoving words down your throat, i was just saying "maybe you dont like XP" im tired of this thread, the original question was answered, i think sorry for getting this thread off topic. every person is entitled to their own opinion. dont cut me up for having one.
  9. also, there may be a damaged component on the board. i mean a little plug may have let go. my dads dell cpi did that. the original ownerhad dropped it or something and when we got it, trying to turn it on didnt result in much. it would just sit there and not do anything when pluggin it in or trying to turn it on. even the battery wouldn't charge. my dad opened it up and found the plug broken off the board. he re-soldered it back on and its been fine ever since.
  10. maybe your 533piii wasnt running right, did you think of that? my 366 handles xp better than what you say your piii did. maybe you just dont like xp.
  11. usually, a laptop will have an external power brick. thats the actual power supply. my dell laptop's both use external bricks, but i have a compaq armada 1700 with the adapter inside of the computer. you may have put too much power right to the board and damaged a component. your best bet is to take the computer all apart and see if theres any blown up components.
  12. 1.) wrong, i run windows xp on a 366 with 384mb of ram and an 8 mb ati rage pro. it boots in under 1 minute. including the POST. A minute and 15 when i have every single peice of software loaded that i need. 2.) they should at least have a version of vista that doesnt need a very powerful computer. when XP was first released, some older computers could still run the OS. i have a 233 with 64mb that ran XP, it took a bit more time to boot up, but once running, it ran alright. (kind of like vista on my 1.8ghz ) 3.) i was very happy with XP when i got it because i got a new computer at the same time. the first new computer i had gotten. the first computer i had was a 120mhz with 32mb of ram and it was a year old when i got it, when i got me new one, it was about 5 or 6. that computer had been upgraded to a 200 with 155mb of ram and i had XP installed on that a few times. and it ran alright. small hard drive prevented me from doing too much. 4.) XP isnt as "bloated" as vista is/will be. the UI in vista is so much more than what the average person needs. if you want it, fine, but MS should release an OS that doesnt have ANY of that crap in it so the average user can utilize the newest software on older hardware (im talking about computers that are maybe 500mhz and up) look at when XP was released and the minimum specs it required/asked for . 233mhz with 64mb of ram and 1.5gb drive space. Vista needs 1ghz or higher (i dont even recommend that, maybe a 2ghz) 512mb ram, and a DX9 video card with 64+ mb. why the drastic increase? because of the "bloated" ui. i rest my case. i will not post back here any more as its gone on long enough IMO. -cygnus
  13. if your content with 5 minute boot times, then so be it. i ran it on a 1.8ghz machine with a good video card and a lot of memory, and it took forever to install and run. i dont like it. xp imo looks better too. not trying to be rude, just stating my own personal experiences.
  14. i think he may have posted in the wrong topic.
  15. wow! looks like its going somewhere
  16. finally, someone that thinks much like me if they wanna go ahead and do it, fine, just dont stop support on the older os MS. thats all im asking.
  17. i wonder what happened to this project, i just came accross this thread and read every page. my my, you guys have made a lot of progress. tommorrow im going to try the latest version of XPize on a VPC with 2000 pro and see what happens. ill post back with my findings. i hope dels comes back and lets us know whats going on. even if he just says "hi" then we know hes still there. my regards, -cygnus
  18. windows 3.11 was uber 1337 it was a good os, for its time. it was actually more stable than win98 imo. although, you couldn't do too much with it. my elementary school used it until around 99, then they switched to win98. some computers were running windows 95 until about 2002, then they were all 98. now theyre just bringing XP in, and they have it looking like 98 >_< exact color scheme too, not even the one from 2000/me (which was nicer imo)
  19. lol, dont worry about that. im sure your plenty smart. the only other thing i can suggest, is giving firefox a shot.
  20. so true, so very true.
  21. ah, i thought you were maybe using windowblinds. i prefer msstyle's, theyre faster from what iv seen.
  22. are you using window blinds or just an msstyle?
  23. how'd you get it? i tried editing the MSSTYLE file and it just corrupted it
  24. ever since i joined this forum, i have watched maybe 20 hours of tv collectively none-the-less, welcome to the forum!
  25. i didnt say i wanted to upgrade, im just angry (im guessing for nothing) that they may stop support for windows XP and then IE or FireFox may not be supported on it, then ill be SOL. windows xp is my os of choice, if i need to use and older os, i will. if they stop support for XP, thats fine. ill just forget about computers and such because by that time, i'll be working full time with no time for this stuff. if you thought that i meant that i wanted to keep up by that, you were wrong. sorry for mis-clarification. all i meant is that people may get fed up if MS keeps putting OS's out and forcing people to upgrade.
