(local intranet should be low, internet should be medium) also, i dont even know if this is possable, but see if your internet security is forced on high. (usauly your IE homepage with be (something)/hardAdmin.asp) i think thats a win 2k3 only thing, but i had something very close to this happen in 2k3 because of that.

umm... what? ive used firefox for a long time, going to crack sites, CWS, etc, and have yet to get *anything* worse then a tracking cookie. not to say opera is a bad browser, i use it my self once in a while. but firefox is not a junk browser, its a heck of a lot better then IE and more customizable then Opera.

This might not be possable, but its just an idea anyways. Make an image of the old hard drives. copy then to the new drives. do an 'upgrade' to XP~ all settings and apps transfered. would be time consumeing, but it would work.

In most cases it is not possable to connect to a wpa-psk network with anything less then sp2, or the wifi adaptor's connection manager. Try useing the software that came with the card to connect. and if you have to download with another pc: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en (i know it says its for IT people, but that just means it is the entire package so that it wont need to go online during the install.)

Like my girlfriend said in relation to WGA's false positives and nag-ware. (and the acer VLK she got with her laptop that somehow was leaked) i told her you can actaully "own" windows, its just like renting it. "So they are trying to evict me out of the house that ive payed for?" i can understand that they want to stop illigal copying, but maybe this is going too far?

Thanks for the tip on the regkey. Ive tryed the offline files setting in the share properties for the folder, but it doesnt effect what the workstations do with the folders. useing folder redirection is awesome for speeding up logon/off time, but its sorta pointless if windows has to sync all the offline files folders anyways. i will look around in the group policy editor and on google tomarrow. im at my parrents house for the night and im not about to try VNC over a cellular dialup connection to work on the server. Unless you really want IIS, i would strongly recommend you go with something like Abyss Web Server other wise, click start, then manage your server. click add/remove a role, then find the option to install a webserver.

I wish i knew how to do that. everything we do is cached locally. copying to the local drive on login, and copying back to server on logout.

I have a windows 2k3 domain server, that im also useing to share the internet connection between my PCs. im wondering if useing ICS is the "wrong" way to do this. its how ive always done it, but i think there is another way that allows settings of more options. blocked sites, etc. edit- Thanks to the new WGA crap, i also want to block all MS hosts. is there a way to do that with ICS, or something else in 2k3?

thats what im doing, all downloads go to c:\localdownloads\ i think for some resion that the ACL for my user folders got corrupted.

The file is named ntuser.dat, so thats not the problem. however, the owner of all the profile folders is alucard/administrators. is there a way to give ownership of the folders to each user without being loged in to their accounts? Ive managed a domain before, but im new to active directory and roaming profiles. ^_^;

i have a compaq laptop with a ATi Mobility p/m AGP (win98se). i cant find drivers anywhere on the ATi site, or driverguide. the omegadrivers dont work. does anyone know where i can get drivers?

Ive checked the ACL of the profiles share, and they all have access to everything they should. i dont really like roaming profiles either, but i have to have them.

I have a windows 2k3 domain server and im haveing some problems with peoples profiles. (includeing mine ) one example is my (and others) wallpapers wont stay. we pick one, log off, log back on, and its gone. another thing is, one of my users has limewire, and he downloads stuff to %userprofile%/shared/ and its not there when he logs back in, or in to another system. other then the wallpaper most profiles settings seem to transfer from one system to another... (another issue is that even people who are members of the admin group dont seem to have admin powers)

Found the problem, it seems that the game wont run without admin powers. and the sony thing is the path to the program, its a sony game.

My friend gets this problem when he trys to launch the game. any ideas?

I have windows 2003 advanced server (enterprise) and im trying to install the driver for my network card and i get the message..."The style of INF was diffrent then expected" any ideas how to fix this?

Looks like something to do with a laptop power manager. look in the startup lists (msconfig.exe) to see if something you dont need is trying to start.

Alright, ive figured it out. The cpu was overheating, nothing was useing 100% cpu. ive also now upgraded to a P4m, and replaced a fan, running at 32 C right now. And yes, the old Celerons blow.

Only if you are using VMWare. They are tools that allow you to copy and paste clipboard and files into your virtual machine. as well as install drivers for the virtual hardware.

It should also be displayed in the network connections properties dialog. more gateways to try: 192.168.0.1, 10.107.19.1

Yes, i dont think that it is possable to make a back up of a user profile, and then restore it. only the documents in the user's folders.
