I have a forum and im looking for something kinda myspace like. i want each member to be able to have a journal/blog, but i dont want my server to have to handle a bunch of WordPress (or whatever) installs. I am useing SMF 1.1 RC2 Thanks~

I would get Windows 2003 standard, the web version has wierd restrictions on it. some LCDs dont handle low screen reslutions well. is it at the highest supported setting? (if you dont plan on using it like this is makes an lcd definatly not worth it, as they are basicly crap at anything but max setting.) also, is it connected via DVI or VGA? if its vga, mess around with the settings on the lcd, something there might help. DVI should do this its self.

i want to use the Mozy backup program, but it says that i cant run it from windows 2003. ive tryed running in windows xp compatiliby mode. is there something i can do to make it look like im running xp?

Thats what i was thinking, except i was going to try to make my own image-based install, then have other rars decompress on first boot. this might cause hardware/driver problems though, so idk. wininit and batch files sounds good. ^_^

and i dont know why. ive tryed everything i can think of... My cdrom drive doesnt work, there is a resource conflict on "System Devices\Motherboard Resources" but i cant edit it from windows. all my unneeded bios devices are disabled (serial, lpt, floppy, etc) (in another thread i said something else about this, this is on another system with another problem)

i need to be able to restore the image from a batch file, and give away the unpacker (or whatever) freely. i dont think i can do that with norton ghost...

Thats Perfect! do you think it would work for an entire windows 98 install + apps? and it does support LFNs, right? (i know there is a dos lfn tsr there, but will unrar support it?)

Is there an archive manager that will allow me to add files to MS CABs? such as the windows 98 setup files.

I need help with the windows INFs. I also need generic drivers for system devices like lan cards, etc... I have a disk manager and ntfs driver (all the old dos utilities will be there too, edit, format, fdisk, etc~) , is there anything else you would like to see in the \tools\ folder?

Alright, i want to do this, but im going to need help. I dont know how to write the custom INFs, although with someone directing me i can figure it out. Who wants to help? edit~ I might not be able to write the INFs without help, if not im going to make an image based install, then write a program to configure the system after the image is extracted to the computer...

Hmm... im guessing that windows just used 512 even though its set to 5000. 65535 was probably to much for it though. im going to change it to 512 just incase something goes wrong.

That seems easyer then what i was going to do (autorun scripts for everything after setup was done) how do you do it with PCSS? i cant find any info... Thats also part of the plan. ^_^

the 65535/5000 values are the values i used in the registery HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\vxd\mstcp\

Im working on a windows 98 project to add some usefull features, like having the usp built in, all MS updates installed, firefox, etc. i also want the cd to have some usefull tools like a dos ntfs driver, a disk manager, etc. Are there any features people here would like to see? and does anyone have any tips they could give me? Ive make custom cds before, but never this much. Thanks!

I was getting about 50 kbps down, now im getting about 300-900 kbps down. i first tryed 65535 and got bsods, so i went down to 5000 and it works great. i have a ~15 mbps roadrunner cable line, and a linux router.

What's next... Windows 3.11? I think it had its own direct-access (32-bit mode) HDD driver...BTW, DOS 7.1 *does* support 48bitLBA via Int13x. xD if you get windows 3.11 to support 137+ GB disks i will use it
