  4. hi! trying to download HowTo: Patch Windows with nLite always prompts for Enter the text shown in the image ... it just goes back to the same page asking to verify despite typing the correct strings ... have tried it 5 times to no avail ...
  5. thanks TC! i'll try to print pages again & report back ...
  6. as far as 2K (& 2K3 which is supposed to be backward compatible with XP) is concerned, FDV's way (& his file sets) is nearly perfect (the reason too for his retirement ) ... however, HFSLIP users (& i suppose nLite users) have tested his ways & technically it works for XP too (w/ some additional reduction modified files required) ... if i am not mistaken FDV has removed IE core entirely and is using other browsers, firefox & opera specifically & these work ...
  7. hi TC! a fews back i printed this website from Introduction to Links ... all printed out fine (without printing the left frame) ... however i tried printing "Important things to know --- please read!" part today as this has just been added, but apparently this time the left frame printed making what i expected to be a single page (to 2 pages max) to 4 pages ... retried it with a different link (this time Complete Changelog which printed in 24 pages) & still the same, frames printed ... i do not recall changing any setting the last time i printed the other pages, links for that matter ... what happened? could the additioon of a new page? thanks!

  13. hi sawzall! just a backgrounder for modifype from: http://hfslip.org/advanced.html ... this would be necessary if you use the following features: 1. HFSVCPACK - REG, INF and CMD files 2. FIX - Replace existing files in the source 3. HFEXPERT - Codecs, WIN files, replace apps & inject hives 4. FDVFILES - Remove Internet Explorer from Windows 2000 5. HFCLEANUP - Reduce your source
  14. nice! thanks TC! maybe a short note too about HFNetCheck ... oh well, it's in the thread anyways ...

  16. this would certainly help a lot of members
  17. try to run a utility for testing your hdd ... there are basically 2 immediate causes for this ... hdd is going bad or if it BIOS has already turned the control over to the OS, then you might need to reinstall your OS eventually ... try running it in safe mode 1st & see if it still locks up in the very same part ... if it goes on, then there might just be conflict in the OS (usually with drivers that do not load completely) ... you may run system restore too from safe mode or pick Last Known Good Configuration from your advanced menu options ... these steps after the 1st i recommended is to rule out any software issue for the time being ...
  18. not to sound too harsh ... but evidently this hdd is failing ;(
  19. hi silrocks! check out this website: http://ryanvm.net/msfn ... there are packs there that contain the hotfixes you need ... there are about 3 major ones there (so you may want to answer this poll: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=89060 ... once you've tried which caters to your needs better) ... these great guys have packed it for everyone's convenience

    Hotfix repack

i agree ... those packs are very useful ... you do not need to download individual hotfixes anymore ...
  23. would this be included in HFSLIP cmd eventually? thanks!
  24. hi Sgt_Strider! yup you can use HFSLIP for unattended install ... you may need to define it via winnt.sif ... as for $OEM$ directory, HFEXPERT feature can address it
