  1. ...aide toi et le ciel t'aidera.
  2. What parameter for instance ? If you point to an other folder and do not load the "Last session.ini", I don't see what could be interfering with your new build.
  3. Quite not exact. This is closer to reality: 1./ c: active primary partition on "device0" (IDE HDD) 2./ d: active primary partition on "device1" if any (HDD plugged to any controller [ATA or S-ATA]) 3./ e: next partition on "device0" and next... 4./ f: next partition on "device1" and next... I can't say right now if Windows just skips to next disk if there is no active partition on the 1st one.
  4. Nothing. But this forum is almost all about Wimb's tool and how it opens doors to easily do "plenty of things from USB". And on a humorous note, for a few seconds I considered myself an insignificant but decisive contributor to the birth of this subforum when it appeared as a consequence of my post in the "historical" thread. B) Too bad I didn't make it to the credits . Cheers.
  5. It doesn't work. It boots and launches it but then stops saying "Could not find the program file", so same problem. Something must be hardcoded somewhere that accepts CDs, HDDs, FDDs but doesn't expect USB. I don't think it's the way I made the .ima file as I did it succesfully for a biosupdate floppy. Thanks anyway. I used "Virtual Floppy Drive" for Windows (vfd), that allows you to mount a virtual floppy, so if you have an exe that can only write to floppy, it writes to the virtual floppy without problem. There you can get your files in A: exactly as if you had a floppy drive. You can have the drive stored either in RAM or stored/saved as IMA format on the real HDD. Cheers.
  6. You need to log on as an other user (administrator for instance) and then you'll be able to copy from your temp user to the default user (if that's what you want to do).
  7. Exactly what updates are you including ? (don't need the full 100names of KB list but an idea of what you are doing). Wouldn't you just wait a few days for SP3 to avoid further headaches ?
  8. Did you try with the one provided by SIS's site (there are two for the 694) ?
  9. At what point ? Can you check the CD with CDCheck or equivalent ? Is your service pack the same language as your XP ? (but I think here you'd get a message before preoceeding)

    Apologies

You are not requested to apologize, but to step back and realize it's not the "poor wording" that makes a problem, because there was no poor wording. As repeated, distribution and therefor download of non free MS softwares trough other channel than MS itself is simply illegal, whatever the licensing or serial you use afterwards. Making a copy of your own disc for other purpose than your own backup is not even allowed. You making a copy of your friends disc for him is not even legal in some lawyer's view. So therefor, it is not allowed to discuss it here or even mention it. People seem to have difficulties to understand this. "Cause everybody does it anyway" is not a valid point here. I think as an IT professional you should know this.
  11. You need to change the active partition from 2nd back to first one. I'm not used to recovery console so I don't know how to do it through that but there are may other way to do it. Even booting in DOS. I'm sure someone will come up with the line you need to type in your recovery console.
  12. Check the subforum "Application Add-Ons" just above your post. Those are addons for most popular applications, made by members. If you wait for SP3, you won't need any additional "post SP2" patch. At least for a few days .
  13. Is the page file not filling the partition ? (Just an idea).
  14. Depends what you call "work fine". If you mean "be in english", yes. You cannot change the whole language of an XP install, you can only change the language you type in (as for spell checks). There is an MS package to change it from English to other language but not the opposite way. And I believe it's limited to Volume Licensing.
  15. Tweaks / Start Menu.
  16. I don't know if it can do it "at install time" (you can try) but you can change the "Profiles Path" in the options and it will be on the cd. Note that of course you have to have drive and path (at least I believe the part before the last folder name) existing at first or the install will crash.
  17. He did now, but it's all in his other thread with same problem. It's not much clearer what he was expecting deleting a Vista partition then try to repair it... and with an XP disk. Also the partition description do not match the screenshots. Did you finally recreate and FORMAT the partition ???
  18. You won't have to format, but make sure you don't get confused with old and new folders (Windows, Program Files, Documents and settings), some of which will be overwritten by default. It might be better (cleaner, faster) to make a backup of your files and start from scratch (format).
  19. Take a backup asap. Then go for furter testings with your drive on other computers and with other drives on your computer. I suppose you've tested it on more than one usb plug from your computer ?
  20. Wind, DocuSet and ProFiles ? Thousands of people in Redmond suggest those, why would one voice here mean more to you ?
  21. with nLite: yes by nLite: no. You'll need to alter the winnt.sif before creating the iso. I never tried, but it's been answered more times. Try this one: http://www.msfn.org/board/2-WINNTSIF-questions-t63558.html
  22. Using "admin", you create a new account named "Terry", then log on as Terry, then copy/paste Admin's Documents to Terry's Documents, then erase them from Admin's documents. Do not "move" nor "Cut&Paste", the documents have to be duplicated to get different rights (which is not really a problem here as I suppose your new account would have admin rights as well).
  23. Why "after", why not let nLite create the disk ? Or is it what you did ? +at what point do you get "ntldr is missing" ? I guess not when you burn the disk like you write.
  24. I think it is.
  25. It's character 216 on this page. But the file is apparently corrupt and a chkdsk is probably the solution.
