  1. AMD has loads of utilities to monitor their CPUs under Windows, check it with one of them.

Unless you know what you are doing (and you wouldn't post such a vague question) I suggest you go the opposite way. Smallest XP in not an achievement in itself, unless you have a machine with 2Gig HDD and 128Meg ram. If you don't know what you are removing, chance is you'll need it later and it is not possible to reintegrate it. So you'll save yourself a few megs on your HDD but loose hours and hours on tweaks and reinstallation.
  3. "not show icons in group" ? Do you mean as in Control Panel ? It's called "Use Classic Control Panel", Explorer tweak. I don't think there is an option for single-click. ... wait for anybody to contradict me. Sorry for your caps as well.
  4. Yes, maybe you selected just everything without reading. There is a tweak that says "Swap left and right mouse buttons", quite close, ain't it ? It's in the visual tweaks. And yes, it shouldn't be there but it doesn't fit anywhere else.
  5. HP's site has SATA drivers for your notebook that you should use at the start of the XP setup process ("Press F6 to load blah blah blah"). If you don't have an available flopy drive, you can stil try to integrate the drivers in your XP disk. Using nLite for instance.
  6. A bit of search would have pointed you to the nLite forum section. Still welcome.
  7. That means it's been removed from the source before. It also means your source is not original nor complete, so I'd say you better use an other cd for start if you want to avoid other surprises.
  8. As Arneh says ", gave an option during setup to select which bits to install and not to install", you should include the time you spent to make the nLited CD.
  9. You are still mixing the words and that's why the first reply was not what you expected. There are two Service Packs for XP untill now, the 3rd one will be out soon. They are cumulative, means SP2 includes SP1 and SP3 will include both. There is no such thing as "latest SP2 release" or "all service pack updates". There are a few "post SP2 updates packs" that contain all the updates since SP2. They usually do not contain IE7 nor WMP10-11. Some, like RyanVM's are integrable with nLite.
  10. I think you got carried on, the thread is about integrating SP3.

    small problem

Search your Last_session.ini for "Explorer-Preset Places Bar to". If the line exists and doesn't contain "Desktop" then you did remove it yourself. Then search for "placesbar" in your registry and change one of the places by a dword value of 0. (carefull here).
  12. Type the adress in a browser, you might get a page if it's a printer. Just an other idea.
  13. Yes. Because the install creates a new user and the directory already exists, it creates one with an other name. I don't know what can be any use for that $Docs folder.
  14. Yes. There are a lot of tools to integrate service packs. nLite for instance. +it has its own forum here on msfn.
  15. That was it! Many thanks! Actualy F8 let me choose the boot drive (floppy, HD, CD-rom etc). . Then it's hardware managed, before the OS boots. +booting DOS 6 in safe mode was achieved by the Ctrl key, maybe not for Win98.
  16. Search for "OEM folders".
  17. Are you starting with a fresh set of files (is the ini showing ALL that's removed)? Have you tried without removing Display Adapters ? I'm not sure about the "AGP filers".
  18. I'd test that mouse on an other PC. Could be a damaged cable or bad contact.
  19. Are you sure that you don't have SP2 already installed and that your service pack is the good language version ?
  20. Ranish Partition Manager can replace fdisk and it has a dead simple GUI. It claims "> 128 GiB disk support but only upto 1.99 TiB - UNTESTED". It is also able to resize (with some limitations and no user friendly method) FAT partitions. And it's free and only 64k. The limitation is partition resizing is that it does not move files, it just changes a few numers in the definitin of the partition. So it is also instant fast. Big plus is also its "quick format". I've never used fdisk in years unless I didn't have Ranish's "part.exe". And of course I can talk the talk, but I don't have any big disk to test that. Cheers.
  21. If you had FAT32 before, you could access all folders from all accounts as there was no security on the file sysytem. I remember there is a setting somewhere in XP Home to make profiles "private" or something like that. Maybe there is a way to undo this. Anyway, if you are an administrator, you should be able to see other's profiles. Unless this is not what your problem is.
  22. Do you mean Itunes doesn't work at all or you can't associate files with it ? +Is it full install from the Apple package or an addon ?
  23. Been reported time and time again. See my answer here. But Nuhi must see this as a detail.
  24. There is no such option in nLite and it's a good thing. That's why you didn't see any notification nor switch. You'd think such a sensitive operation would be indicated by a clear warning or would you expect the program just to do it by default like it's normal to wipe a partition without asking which one ? You can still modify the winnt.sif manually before creating the iso if you feel like it.
  25. I don't know what you call the "main site" but DX-november from M$ is 64MB, not 400. Check again.
