  1. If there is no other .asp file that you need, you coud try renaming it "ren *.asp x.asp" check the result then "delete x.asp"
  2. So have you set your IP manually ? Or do you have no IP at all ? Is the network card correctly installed ? Can you ping anything ?
  3. Problem is, if ever you were to need them, you'd need them all as they are a history of cumulated changes to the OS (that is only if you ran nLite several times on the same set of files). Opening the files with notepad would easily give you an idea of what they contain. To go from the original source to your final result, you'd need to implement the changes contained in all the "Last session.ini" files, and in the same order. The "_u" files contain the unattended settings and are not cumulatives. Only the last one is relevant to what's on your final cd.
  4. Your question is not very clear. The one called "last session.ini" is the one from the previous process. There is none "current". Anyway, those files are in the \Program Files\nLite\presets\ directory as well in case you need them so there is no danger deleting them.
  5. Quite the opposite stated in the SP3 FAQ on this forum -SP1a minimumto update a running XP. -no SP needed (on target) to slipstream (but SP1a as well on the machine that does the job) Now for the info on MS's site, I don't know if they've changed the SP to make it run on a "no SP" system.
  6. The LastSessions things are also on the root of the CD unless disabled that in the options.
  7. DO remove and clean the contacts of the video card (if not onboard), as well as the RAM modules. Reset them and check if it works.
  8. + you only need slipstreaming SP3 which already contains SP2 updates.
  9. Hertz.
  10. -I entered name of the computer and it is still asking for a full name -> ... did you enter the "full name" as well ? -I entered the administrator name and I don't want a password: it asks for one during install. -> did you check "blank password" ? -I set the screen res. in nlite to the maximum it can take with the default vga drivers 800X600 in 32bit), and it still asks me permission to adjust the screen res (to put it to the actual settings I had preset in nLite) during install -> some visual tweaks are known to be not fully working -I don't want the blue interface with the blablah and the time count during install, how do i get rid of this? -> check the Setup Look in the "Options" -I don't want the prompt from security center and the welcome screen after install_ how do I disable them? -> check "Skip OOBE" in Unattended.
  11. Check in the "Services", -Secondary Logon... "Needed for Fast User Switching" -Shell Services.
  12. Yes, there's been a surge in the last two weeks. It's a conspiracy.
  13. If you burn a "bootable DVD", Nero will ask you for a boot image of a floppy (*.IMA or .IMG) to add to the data part of your DVD and make it bootable. If Ghost created an ISO, you need to "burn image" as the boot part is already included in the iso. We need to know whjat file you got at first to help you burn it the correct way.. About zero fill, it's overkill in 99% of the cases, but sometimes usefull on the fery first sector of the drive (that takes less than half a second). About partitionning, I use a dos boot cd with "Ranish Partition Manager". Partitionning beforehand is not needed if you apply a Ghost DISK image, but it is if you apply a Ghost PARTITION image.
  14. Yes. because the default filename is "WinLite.iso" although I replaced the label name with a different name. Your answer is not very convincing. Changing the label does not have any effect on the iso file name. You have to change it as well, this is normal. It seems impossible that nLite creates an iso with a different name than the one you set.
  15. ... "the disk is working properly in other system".

    USB Booting issues

Just to add to the confusion, I once had a bad_pool_driver BSOD, the cause was a bad memory stick. Now maybe this can have other causes too.
  17. You could read this sysprep explanation for a start, if it's what you're after.
  18. this was an internal device. A this point and if it's really fresh, I think Volatus is beter off reinstalling, unless he wants to loose a lot of time and hair.
  19. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh ! I got owned. Well spotted.

    USB Booting issues

He made an nLited XP CD on a Vista machine to install XP on a USB stick. Now from what I gather, he formatted the stick with Vista and when he tries to boot from the CD, it doesn't, it boots from the stick instead. So he gets the error message. Am I right ?
  21. Yes. You also need to partition the drive before installing XP so that the D: (in your case) is formatted otherwise the install crashes.
  22. A good admin is a fat admin. If people at work really need admin privilege for work, they just have to ask for it. Then the hierarchy checks and says yes or no. It's as simple as that. Letting people think they can do what ever they want with "their" computer is simply not manageable if you have a fair amount of users. And you get reminded of this fact every day.
  23. Can you remember which names you used ? If you didn't set passwords, the password should be blank. If XP HOME, restart in safe mode, use "administrator" with no password, it should work if you used an unmodified CD to install. It is possible, if you have a localized version, that the username is translated (I think for instance in french, its "administrateur" instead).
  24. it means "Windows Installation set of files". It means the CD you use to install XP. Either you point to the cd, then nLite asks you for a directory on your HD where it can copy the files to modify them, either you copy the files manually first then points nLite to the directory on HD. Note that if you intend to use your XP on flash drive more than once or twice, it is said that the high level of read/write operations that an OS requires could kill your drive quite early. Good luck.
  25. Errr... My answer is totally off the mark I can't see what's missing from your ini file. Did you start with a standard source ? You can try running "nusrmgr.cpl" and create a shortcut to it as a workaround.
