  1. That number you get from the "list disk" result, be 100% sure you then select the right drive. You might get into trouble if not .
  2. Nero has (or had, I haven't checked that recently) a "karaoke" filter that would decrease voice frequencies, but it did not remove the voice, just dim it.
  3. Thanks for the effort. Few remarks; -I don't quite get how you "strip down a Windows XP SP3 standard installation" and end up witha "2.5Gb usage" installation when a standard XP is less than 2 Gig. That is unless I missed something, which leads me to my second point: -Your screenshots are far too small to be readable, (don't you want to encourage precise instructions?!), even if I see you don't integrate any additional drivers which surprises me even more when the subject covers a precise model. -I've overwritten my iso's countless times, surely as much times as people have posted about missing the "make ISO" button on the last screen or forgot to select the task. I do not think there is a bug there. One more thing in case you still expect something from the "coding team"; nLite's is as close as the finished (free for personal use) product it was supposed to become (that is, for the audience it is intended to) and its developement is on hold since a year and probably for a long long time.
  4. The last file/folder you selected is the one highlighted and selected (frame around it), it will be copied first, then the 1st on display and next ones. So if you select last one then 1st one using Shift key, they are copied in display order. But if you select 1st one to last one using Shift, they are copied in displayed order AFTER the last one is copied. Weird but I think that's how it works. For files within selected directories, there might be other factors. For other possibilities (skipping unreadable/locked files), check for other small programs like TeraCopy or others. There are some threads about those.
  5. Awergh posted about them two already. I tried Win95 as guest OS of Virtual Box, last version, under XP and yes, it crawls with CPU at 100%, but this is stated in VBox's manual.
  6. 1st open the computer or use any diagnostic software to find out the precise model of your mother board, then if same than your cd, check the manufacturer's site for any update for that model (some XP Service Packs need updated drivers).
  7. And as well as here, please choose meaningful tittles to your threads.

    How do you...

You might also check Rule 12 of the Forum Rules.
  9. A floppy drive will get you back to the years ~2002 or before, that means one or two USB 1 ports, and 256 Meg Ram or less (maybe upgradable). I'd go for a more recent machine (up to 2005 maybe), it won't be more expensive, then get external (USB) floppy and CD/DVD burner. Those you can still share on an other PC if needed.
  10. Double check your jumpers and all IDE and power cables.
  11. Either you must configure (on the Dell's network card's TCP/IP settings) a static IP that's in the range of the one your modem gives or you need your laptop to be on DHCP (receiving an IP from the router). The problem is probably you now have a static IP that is not in the range of the router, so there is no traffic between them two even if the cable is plugged in. Check the network settings on your desktop to get an idea of the range you need (if ou still go for static).
  12. In your example, the author points to the files ON CD (read only). nLite needs to be able to edit them. If your files are already on your hard disk, you're not prompted to copy them in a different folder. Be aware that those files will be modified and that you might want to have a backup if you don't have them on cd. But surely you do.
  13. Well I won't ask "why not install from CD?" then ! Still the usual stuff applies: -what cd are you starting from (original ?) -did you integrate the SP with nLite? -did you use nLite more times on that same cd (unattended part and users creation is quite sensitive when using already modded cd) -to let us know what you added/removed, please attach (... not paste) both last session.ini files (remove key and sensitive data). -have you manualy edited files before/after nLite ?
  14. No, it is Windows XP since its birth (2001). And it should be 30 days, not 3. More here.
  15. Does this apply to your exact model or is this just a "rule". If so it's not true. You should have two monitors listed in Display Properties Settings (when they're both plugged and ON of course). If not, you might have to reboot but I'm not sure. I remember I once had a PCI card disabling the internal onboard PCI card, but with AGP it was ok.
  16. You seem to have missed Jaclaz's second statement here. nLite is simply not for commercial use (if only you know what EULA means). I won't comment about all other edgy points in your posts.
  17. Could also be bad media or bad optical drive.
  18. On Dell's it's called "AC Recovery (ON / Off / Previous State)".
  19. Additionally you can read this that confirms what's already been posted. Same was done for Vista with same results.
  20. Do you have the same problem in Safe Mode ? With an other profile ? Have you made any change prior to this problem ? Can you check multiple screens are not enabled ?
  21. I know it's an old post but I also found this one: Q-Dir and it works in PE3.0 and it's portable.
  22. See here my answer to this post that is still on the 1st page of the forum.
  23. Again,... does that key work with that XP disc before you slipstream SP3/use nLite ? (Please don't answer "of course, it is a legit key" as that is not my question).
  24. Will your users be as keen? I mean it will probably last about 1/2hour on each PC. The coffee machine will be overloaded as well.
  25. Yes: -point 4 of the XP Forum Posting Rules. -the nLite forum -relevant thread on the 1st page., lots of them further if you search. We'll get this thread moved if Mods want it. Common problem is using your specific (sticker) key that is meant to be used with a generic OEM disc when the disc you made is in fact based on an auto-activated XP that uses a special key (that is the same on all cds from the manufacturer) that you can find in an answer file somewhere in the i386 folder. That auto activation can only work with specific motherboards and specific files on that same cd.
