  1. I doubt those ever leave the factory as "parts".

You're not doing it right, man, read again: You need to copy all files from your install cd including i386 subfolder to an empty folder. What you're doing now is copy i386 folder to the root of your disk. That's why nLite reports all the content of your disk because the root contains the i386 subfolder.
  3. I'm not presuming on your wealth but in this case, buying an install cd in your own language would save you years of headaches for cheap. Where would you ge the translations from anyway ?
  4. The acceleration depends entirely on the deformation of the disk at impact, supposing the concrete floor does not give any relief. But you could put it that way; tie both your Seagates to a 1meter rope and make them rotate at 3255rpm, that is 300g for your HDDs. At that point, you're like holding about 3 tons with your arms ...if any left. Call that a real life situation if you want. The formula involved here is ("centrifuge") F=-M.R.(w^2) involving force, ray, and rotational speed, so if F=M.a, a=R*w^2 and w=sqr(300.g)=54rotations/sec. I think.
  5. Same Service Pack level ?
  6. -Partition image or "sysprepped" image cannot be edited with nLite, only standard "Windows XP" install cd can be. -You can probably edit those images with other tools, but to have them put back in the good place and ready for deployment is certainly not easy (and is not related to this subforum). There are some thread about making own recovery partitions, I don't know if they still open or succesfull. -for install from usb drive, check the "install from usb" forum.
  7. I only have 2 reasons, I'll let you appreciate their validity: -because we're lazy and clicking is easier than typing paths and SP's complete name. -because nLite gets around this kind of situation, when /integrate just stops (I think). As for integrating SP and modifying in the same session, there's a small bug in the handling of the "last session" (for those using it) that is loaded versus a pre-integration source but ran and saved on a post integration source.
  8. If by recoverable, you mean deletable, yes, easily. What's preventing you to delete it ? Moving your first partition to reclaim that space involves 3rd party softwares, be it "offline" imaging (Ghost and others) and/or repartitionning (Partition Magic, GPartEd or others)./!\All must be compatible with Vista to avoid major problem booting after the operation and you might have to manually edit files to reflect the fact you're 2nd partition becomes the 1st. One thing to be sure is thus that you can access your system from an external way, I mean modify your files even if your portable doesn't boot. Be aware after that partition is gone or even tempered with, getting it "back to factory state" is easier to say than to do, read this oversized thread about recovering your partition as in really "recovering" it if you're interrested. But it might be too late already depending on what Vista did. But why Vista... we hope you know. I'm now waiting for some member to point all the errors in my post.
  9. So it doesn't, does it ? Mainly reinstalling without formatting is done using Repair, unless you delete all system files on the partition then start installation. Very few people do that. Cheers.
  10. Cluberti, most users agree that this is not a problem as long as the SP integration is the *only* operation done with nLite, the result is still valid as an "original source" at least technically and in this context.
  11. Does it change anything if you lower "hardware acceleration" in Display Properties (Settings/Advanced/Troubleshoot) ?
  12. I once had a few floppies melting after hours in my car left in the sun, I wasn't able to test them but they sure looked unreadable
  13. Do you have RAID options in your Bios? Anyway, either you want RAID or install to one drive, not both(??).
  14. including "format C:" ? If yes, sorry, I think the method only works for repair.
  15. The search function is so unfair. INVALID. +Why make an iso then extract it when you can just copy the cd ? But that's not your issue.
  16. No I wasn't, I was only wrong. This was just one more hint and I didn't check the numbers before posting. It proves totally unapplicable . Also I wasn't sure what temperature would cause cosmetic damage (melt the plastic bits). Cheers.
  17. Does the install complete with the original CD ? +Can you read the big red announcement up your screen ?
  18. Apart from the obvious RAM that you don't want to hear about and faster HDD (if properly recognised of course), I would try one of those PCMCIA cards unless someone is shure you can't get USB2 speed from your PCMCIA bus.
  19. There's no way to test it as your drive is dead already but I'd put it in a conventional oven for few hours at ~50°C. Might be enough for the electromagnetic bits to fade and not so much that it causes physical damage. Any physicist in the house ? Or someone to test it with a (possibly obsolete ) working drive?
  20. Additionally, if "the user" is a third person, you are also violating the EULA of the software you're requiring help for. nLite is for personal use only.
  21. It's the max you get in DDR, so the prices remain high because everybody ditches their 256 and 512M to get them. You'll find them in 333 & 400Mhz, that's all I can say.
  22. +that's an other $30 at least.
  23. Could it be that this disk was not SP1 or above ?
  24. Hit F8 directly after Bios screen and choose "Safe Mofde" with networking if possible (don't know what your internet connection is coming through) so you can use the above tools.

Your "no" implies it's not an nLite problem but a Windows problem. When selected for copy, the size should be the same as on HDD after paste. Just "size on disk" could be different but not that much. Unless youy take the readings in a totally different way or paste to a directory that's not empty at first (check for hidden files ?). Do you copy manually or do you let nLite make the copy ?
