  1. Jaclaz you're a bully. Things may work the way you describe, but not "this way" as described in the original post.
  2. Most programs don't work this way. Thoser who do are called "portable" or "portable versions".
  3. Dell gives Win2000 drivers for Mobility M3 and M4, which part is "wrong"? I'd be surprised if it was wrong since 10 years. It also gives (XP)Mobility Radeon drivers for the C610. Could yhis link be what you're looking for? I don't think those are for portables.
  4. Again,... Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini file to your post to facilitate quicker assistance. You'd have your solution by now if you had done this.
  5. By removing the unneeded lines manually before you go to the next screen.

    Xp validation

Ok, so maybe it was activated but WGA failed. In which case it has nothing to do with the original description ("due to the product not licensed for that region") ???
  7. You need to read a lot about -drive images and imaging programs -Sysprep -HAL -drivers edit:... "Any PC" you or your organization has or really any PC ? This makes a huge difference to your question.
  8. Why not just read the rules and not double post instead ?

    Xp validation

Activation/Registration... What exactly do you call "validation" ? Windows XP needs to be activated only once, then it's done, until you make "some" hardware changes or reinstall.
  10. LINKS are not clearly visible since they are not underligned anymore. Take this post as an example of ignorable link by a non ignorable member (there is no colour difference as the link is all the phrase).
  11. First Question: Will this CD work with nLite? Yes. I believe Dell still deliver full standard XP install discs Second Question: What happens if I leave that "Windows Serial" area blank? Here I think you mainly have 2 options; leave the "unattended" part untouched and so let Dell use its OEM key, in which case the key will be checked along with your computer's bios and some files dell has included in their CD to automatically activate the OS, or overwrite the Unattended part and either fill or leave the key blank, in which case you'll be prompted for one at install. If you overwrite the key with one that's not valid, you'll still be prompted for an other one. Third Question: After I install XP via nLite, to install the missing drivers couldn't I just have XP look on my Dell CD? I think Dell provided a 2nd disc with drivers that are not included in XP SP2. Fourth Question: I'm trying to get my XP SP3 install as small as possible. What drivers are 100% required to be put on the nLite Windows Installer? It depends on your hardware, nLite has a warning for those that can be removed if own driver is included and replaces them. The advice is to not remove drivers unless you are 100% sure you'll never need them (...like "battery" for a desktop).
  12. Please do. You are currently violating rule 12 of the forum. Some people ignore those threads.
  13. Your descrition of the problem is very poor. Where does your XP come from ? "Boot it from usb" ...optical drive ? At what time do you get the error ?
  14. You mean 1 harddrive, SSD, 16GB(?) with 2 partitions, right ? What's keeping you from repartitionning? Do you need to keep the recovery partition if any ? Is "the person" a friend or a client ?
  15. Check , just 15 sec from the end. When the disk stops spinning, there is a (short) sensation of movement due to the internal rotational energy.
  16. The error indicates that you're not booting from the CD (not bootable ?) Do you see the "Press any key..." message ? Are you sure to copy all (hidden) files at 1st step ?

    system info

    Why double post ?
  18. 1st edit your post comply with forum rule 12 (meaningless subjects in topic title). You should image your old drive to the new one. Be sure to image the disk and not only the partition. After that, you will probably have to get your new (sata?) drive on the sata cable that takes the 1st position in boot order so that your Win7 is still on 2nd disk. I'm not sure how the boot process will digest the changes. Be sure you can access the system from an alternative boot device in case of (small) problem.
  19. Are ou sure it's a JPG and not something else ? Can you save the file ? Does it have a normal size ?

    SFC files missing

From what I know, "Disable SFC" removes files needed to run the service, like most options in nLite. Reusing nLite on the new files shows the option is greyed out which prooves my point (even if some chockingly call me wrong ). I don't know what Johnhc is using, maybe something to reinstall it afterwards ? I know there were some threads about switching it on/off but can't seem to find them.

    xp size

You only tell us "the folder on the disk is 800mb" and "the file arrives to the folder as 800mb" but we still don't know what reports that. You can of course continue your own way and get no further. nLite or not, you posted here, so if you want to solve you problem, follow the advice already given twice; take your original XP disk and let nLite do the copy. The way you're doing it right now, beside the fact you see(?) 800 Meg in your i386 folder, is not going to work anyway. nLite is going to include Recycle Bin from your USB drive and other stuffs in your new cd.
  22. 2 small remarks: You can also find your ini files saved in C:\Program Files\nLite\presets\ So, some of the ISOs came from here?MSFN is not MSDN.
  23. You should be shot in the head First, welcome to the forum 2nd, you should post in the right section; the nLite forum. Ok, you couldn't guess, but you couldn't have missed the big red announcement up your screen, did you ? 3rd, "I'm new to the forum, be nice" is breaking forum rules about proper description of your problem in thread's title. Double whammy. 4rth, searching the said nLite forum will get you to a solution in a few minutes. Big lines in your case: -integrate text mode drivers for your SATA controler, check post replies by user Fernando1. -if integrating any SP, do the nLite operation under XP, not under Vista. -don't be tempted to remove any component that you might regret later. And don't forget my first point: Welcome.
  24. Sorry, I thought you wanted to modify the whole Windows GUI, but you obviously only want the install screens to be changed. As Mooms suggests, you beter post in the "Customize Windows" forum, maybe this can be moved there.
