    nliteos.com gone ?

We knew Nuhi had other things on his mind but apparently nobody registered nliteos.com and it it's now gone. FAQ, downloads, I guess it will have to be rehosted somewhere ? By someone ? Not that there was anything new though.
  3. Check that your Windows 2000 disk has SP3 or later integrated. Check for a BIOS update for that computer, maybe it is not able to adress the whole disk correctly.
  4. Your answer is cryptic. Please re-read -X-'s answer and follow his link (then search that subforum for "Opera") as it most probably is the way you should look.
  5. Most common mistake is to put drivers or the ServicePack itself in the folder where you've copied your XP files, so being integrated to your source by nLite, the SP gets integrated in your iso as .exe file as well which you don't need. Check your folder for things that shouldn't be on the ISO. Some people also choose things like "D:\" as working folder ...and all their drive gets integrated in the iso.
  6. Have you tried with different power connectors as well ?
  7. Check the NLITE subforum. There are many requests for tutorials. Doing what you want to do is quite straightforward. Install the program, (needs dotnet), point to your cd, point to a foder on your HDD, files gert copied, select options (integrate SP, create iso) , let nLite integrate SPs, burn iso and you're done. Some people report having problems integrating just SP3 (problems with key being rejected), some say there is no problem and it's better to integrate only SP3. See for yourself.
  8. Does the Bios give you any temperature indication ? Has your case suffered any shock (physical knocking) before the problem ?
  9. Search the forum for threads with "recovery partition" in the tittle or follow Jaclaz links here.
  10. EDITED; ok glad you solved it. Neither do we, so please attach (not paste) your "last session.ini" file.
  11. That is one of the files that are used to validate the auto-activation of your XP. I don'(t know what other problem it can cause. Can you check if your XP is activated or not ? Can you also check your cd if the file is present (oembios.bi_ ) and readable ?
  12. When people say "DOS", they mainly say "MS-DOS 6.x" which is the last version before Windows tooke over. In which case the answer to your question is FAT 12 and FAT 16 which have limitations to 32MB and 2Gig partitions. If you mean DOS as "DOS 1.0 and other", you have to go back to FAT12 only. FAT32 was introduced with Win95b see http://www.dewassoc.com/kbase/hard_drives/...systems_dos.htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT12 Good luck for your exams.
  13. There are a lot of results when googling "CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code:5", maybe you need to burn at lower speed. Is that (old) drive able to read the whole CD apart from booting it ? You didn' t happen do burn a DVD did you ?
  14. I don't think "Shift+any key" can be associated to a shortcut. They all include Ctrl or/and Alt. You must have a problem with your keyboard or its configuration. What happens when you type "[" ? Nothing ?
  15. One of your updates has 185 characters in its name. I don't know if there is a limitation but I'd try putting them in a dedicated directory with a shorter path.
  16. No, it's called warez (downloading XP from any other source than MSDN), and forum rules prevent discussing it. Also this is not nLite related.
  17. I have 3 USB sticks (same models) that are apparently too slow to be detected by most Bios at cold boot so I always have to reboot first if I want to boot them (and unfortunately reenter bios and shift in HDD boot order). Other sticks don't do that. This could be (only half) an explanation to your problem though yours seems more complicated ("random order" ?).
  18. I sense this becoming a catch phrase like "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" . Where's Johnhc ? Anyway, one could check this thread, it's too long for me but seems relevant even if it is not clear wether his problem got fixed or not.
  19. I'm not sure it helps but in mine's properties, Path to Executable says this: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs".

    OOBE Question

So all the info is entered in one go and you don't have to keep an eye on the installation then click some boxes, then go have a second coffee then come back for OOBE.
  21. The ini file is in the folder that is to be put in the iso. The "make iso" step does not mofify anything in that folder. So ...no.
  22. If your motherboard is older than 2004, it will probably not boot from your USB drive. Typically, Boot Menu is F12. Some motherboards allow booting "from usb", some allow booting from HDD in which your USB drive could be listed (but to change HDD boot order, you need to enter bios). It is also possible that you have to pass your USB drive from the removable discs to the HDDs group.
  23. What exactly do you mean by "hangs at the administrator account when installing XP" ? Is the install finished but you can't login ?
  24. Nothing to report unfortunately. The laptop was older than I thought (no gigabit and XP). I sent him a cross cable and I had him on the phone. He managed to have Skype working but no Internet (???). Short investigation showed that his portable (adress 192.168.0.116) could ping the other one (0.1) but not the opposite. We tried disabling fiewalls, same thing. He's gone to Canada now so no need to bother. Still strange. I also see there is a bug introduced by SP3, I'll check that for next time.
  25. People have tried with various luck. It depends on what sort of image you get through your recovery process (fully installed or sysprep). Note that nLite is designed to work on a standard "Windows XP installation disk" and not on a bunch of files that might be the good ones. You will also need the root files for a bootable cd. See here and here. One simple way to get the files is to start the recovery process and stop it after the image is copied.
