  1. When you say "incorrectly", do you mean it does not match the default keyboard set for his profile in Regional & Languages settings or do you mean the config is not as expected or does not match the hardware?
  2. Come on, ...this is a machine from about 1998, "memory expandable to 128 MB" http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...cid=LWIK-3XSLNR
  3. If this is a 300MHz PII, I hope you can upgrade the memory to more than 128Meg, otherwise it will crawl. I also hope you upgraded the HDD (~4Gig ?) as XP will fill it as soon as installed. Speaking of which, everybody would rather advise a clean install over an upgrade. If applicable, take a backup, clean your disk, schrink your partition (with gparted or Ranish for instance) and make a 2nd one, then you can apply the "multi-partition install", which I've never done myself so my advise will stop here .
  4. One of the pins is bent (and a colour is missing). Repare takes 1minute with adequate tool.
  5. Check Bledd's post before all.
  6. I had a problem downloading a 700Meg iso and it took me 4 tries before realizing there was only 400Meg free on my system partition. There was no error message ! . Deleting temp files got me enough room indeed.
  7. Is it after each reboot ? You might try to boot from a dos disk or any cd and so check if it's a software/hardware problem. Well... now that I write this, you can even go into BIOS directly after reboot and see if it has already changed. Is the PC on network/domain ?
  8. What was the error message (I'm no specialist but the error might be hardware to) ? I guess the data partition was first and the empty space was second. I'd try TESTDISK, there is a Windows version. You might end up with a valid partition with only part of your files, depending on the moment the error occured.
  9. There is an nLite forum on this board. You might get more help over there. I doubt those people would be interrested in using nLite. I even think it is a bad idea to use nLite for someone else's computer. I don't mean "keep it secret", I mean use it for yourself, knowing what you do.
  10. yes you can, so you don't need to slipstream sp2, whatever you want to slipstream (drivers or post sp2 updates). If you search for RyanVM, you can get them post SP2 updates as 1 file and an "integrator".
  11. -for updates, search for and check RyanVM's post SP2 pack -for slipstreaming, check www.nliteos.com -if you need more, on the home page of MSFM, there is a link to the "unattended" guide. -for both above, there are also separate forum sections on MSFN.
  12. plugging a recent USB stick on a USB 1 port will get you a message saying the device can perform faster on a USB 2 port. If applicable.
  13. And please change your avatar, boobs don't need to be on every web page.
  14. You mean "computer" do you ? This is important for the comprehension of your problem. No tech will ever have you open your hard drive.
  15. huh ? oh you forgot... "and don't use caps".
  16. There is no direct way that I know as it would imply creating an extended partition and then a logical inside the extended. The easiest way would indeed be to move the data to an other partition (on your first drive or on a network drive ?) and recreate the partitions (the resizing method above would take much much more time unless the drive is half empty). If you want to keep it bootable, it might be more complicated. But why do you want to do that ?
  17. I doubt you see a difference with 0,02sec ?
  18. In the regiustry, you can change the keyboard and default in Current User / Keyboard / Preload (I guess the 1st one is the default). You need to know the codes. Runing intl.cpl will also do, but you need to find a way to get back your shortcut.
  19. If there is no card in it, I doubt it would take any ressource. Have you checked in System Devices ?

    Lost CD Key

    ...tolerated.
  21. If you go to the 2nd or 3rd page of this forum, there is a huge thread about that sort of drivers integration, (55 pages long). Most info has been summarized in the 1st post.
  22. It amazes me how you guys can turn those sentences upside down to get that nonsense that "enable" would "disable", this is the 10th thread about this one. Once again, Press Any Key boot message ...Enable=enable, disable=disable, right ? The option is enabled by default, you can change it (use the option) to disable the message. Nuhi please change the comment to "Use this to make your CD/DVD bootwith or without displaying the Press Any Key message".
  23. Err... you disabled something and it's not there... hum. Strange. You enable the option to get the message and unless interaction from the user, the system does not boot from cd but from the next boot device. Disabling the option (like you did) will have the systyem booting from the cd every time, causing a loop at installation if the cd is before HDD in boot order.
  24. IDLE ! It's not a process that eats 95% of your ressources, it's just your processor is 95% buzy doing nothing. Means it's only 5% buzy doing something ! What's wrong with that ? Nothing.
