  1. Hey Guys, I'm in the process of making a custom Office 2003 CD with SP3 slipstreamed as well as all the latest Office (and associated hotfixes for Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) I have my original release Office 2003 disc and I have downloaded SP3. The part I am confused about is which hotfixes are for post-SP3 installations. On the MS website some hotfixes say for certain hotfixes you need either SP2 or SP3, despite them being released after SP3's published date. This is the confusing part (and I don't want to slipstream incorrect or superceded hotfixes into my disc). Does anyone have a list of ALL the post-SP3 hotfixes for Office 2003? Thanks kindly in advance KellyK
  2. bump to 1st page C'mon guys..surely someone knows the answers to these Q's. Extensive Googling hasn't really helped me...and by not being able to find solutions it is holding up my nLite SP3 CD
  3. Hey guys Re my other topic I have successfully created an updated XP SP3 disc w/ IE7 & WMP11 however there are a few probs with it that I'd like to fix. 1. When I try to integrate the following IE7 updates in nLite, it generates an error when it is creating the final result saying something like "cannot integrate KBxxxxxx". It happens to these hotfixes: 933566 938127 929969 937143 942615 944533 931768 There are ALL IE7 hotfixes. On the MS website it says they are for SP2 with no mention for SP3. Is this why they are failing to be integrated? - is it because they are now redundant with the slipstream of SP3 into my XP Gold disc? 2. Why does KB915865 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=915865 show up in Add/Remove Programs on my new nLite disc? No other hotfixes from SP3 show up in Add/Remove Programs except this one & IE7-WindowsXP-KB947864-x86-ENU.exe. IS there anyway to 'hide these in Add/Remove Programs' or is the only option just to not integrate them (which I can't do for KB915865 as according to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946480 it is a part of SP3. I find theme annoying in the Add/Remove list that's why I want to try and stop them from appearing. 3. How come when I integrate additional XP themes in the 'Desktop Themes' in the Unattented section of nLite by including 'Royale.mssytles' when I test in in VMWare it isn't in the list of themes available. Yes I did do the allow unsigned uxtheme.dll option in nlite. Why is this happening? 4. Finally to achieve a fully updated DirectX March 2008 install I have downloaded DirectX_9.0c_End-User_Runtime_AddOn_0.3.4_-_redxii.7z. Do I just include this in the hotfixes section of nLite for it to be integrated into my SP3 disc? Or do I need to extract it before it gets integrated? Also how do I tell if it was successful and actually updates the DX files in my nLite disc? Thanks guys... sorry for all the Q's I just want to get a perfect disc thats all (I'm sure we all do)! Cheers
  4. sp3 doesnt contain any ie7 or wmp11 updates does that mean i should still integrate the hotfixes (in WMP11 Slipstreamer and nLite for the IE7 hotfixes) despite the fact hey say they are for SP2? and i've deleted all the individual outlook express hotfixes and the redist. version of widonws installer 3.1 v2 because they are already in SP3... correct? thanks guys srry i just want to clarify because i want to make a really good nlite disc
  5. Hey guys, I'm finally getting around to updating my nLite CD for Win XP. My old one SP2 one w/ ~ 120 hotfixes worked like a charm. I have a few Q's about how to make a FULLY updated SP3 one though. My Setup: Win XP Pro GOLD (i.e. clean RTM disc) nLite v1.4.5 (Final) [self extracting version, not the installer one] .Net Framework v2.0 w/ SP1 WMP11 Slipstreamer v1.2 What is the correct oder to do it? 1. Slipstream SP3 into XP GOLD CD 2. Integrate WMP11 into XP GOLD CD source using WMP11 Slipstreamer (http://web.clicknet.ro/boooggy/) - here's my 1st Q; Do I need to also slipstream the WMP11 hotfixes using this tool? I have downloaded them all from the MS site, but they all say they are applicable for SP2. Does SP3 already contain these WMP11 hotfixes, thus making the individual hotfixes redundant? (as in therefore do I only have to slipstream the original WMP11 installer) 3. Integrate IE7 into XP GOLD CD using nLite - again, do I need to also slipstream the IE7 hotfixes as well? I have downloaded them all from the MS site, but they all say they are applicable for SP2. Does SP3 already contain ALL available IE7 hotfixes, thus making the individual hotfixes redundant? (as in therefore do I only have to slipstream the original IE7 installer) 4. Continuing with my customised method of removing components & services etc. through nLite. Also, how do I slipstream the March 2008 redist. version of DirectX 9.0c into my source (and in what order?) - can this be done through nLite Does SP3 include Windows Installer v3.1 v2? - as in can I delete the individual redist. version of it because it is now redundant? What about Outlook Express individual hotfixes? Does SP3 include these - can I delete all the individual hotfixes? Thank you all in advance Kelly Keyboard
  6. Topic title. Is it possible to integrate .NET Framework v2.0 into a custom Win XP SP2 cd using nLite? I would like to do it (hopefully) by adding an .exe or .cab file into the integrate hotfixes section of nLite (just like you would for Windows critical updates)...but everytime I've tried (using the re-dist version from MS, RyanVM's dotnet2.exe), nLite says it is not a valid hotfix. Is there anyway to do this w/o having to use a program like HFSLIP? Thanks Kelly Keyboard
  7. yes ive doen all thtat...thanks im just wondering (this will be my 2nd slipstreamed cd) if its worth including all the hotfixes that i never will need, e.g for wundows update, japanese characters update, high mat cd burning plugin etc) or should i just leave them out as i have been ATM (and just including all the relevant ones for me and the critical updates) cheers
  8. the debate is this: either install every hotfix (eg. for windows update, new arabic fonts etc and japanese ime hotfixes) for everything so i have a fully updated cd. benefits are old files are replaced with newer ones. cons: updates files for things i will NEVER use. install only hotfixes in need (for WMP11, IE7, critical updates etc). benefits: potentially less conflicts coz not installing so mamny updates. possibly less problems in the future. cons: not all files updates what should i do? also is it possible to remove outlook expreess w/o screwing up windows/ie7 etc??? cheers
  9. Hi all, Im using nLite v1.3.5 to tweak my install for Win 2K Pro SP4. No matter what different configurations I try i keep gettign this message during install where setup says "Please wait while setup: Registers components" (just before Windows has finished installing) "Windows Installer Incorrect command line parameters. Windows Installer V 2.00.2600.1267 Copyright © Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved Portions of this software are based in part on the work of the Independant JPEG Group" It happens twice during this portion of the install within about 1 minute of each other. If i just click ok then the error goes away and the install proceeds as normal. I get no other error messages druing install or when running Windows and everything appears to be fine. Howver I'd like to fix this problem because: a) it means I have to click theerror, thus dstroying my 'unattended install' B) there is a problem and it needs to be fixed. Does anyone know what could be the problem or a possible solution. Ive already tried two different Windows source disks and stating from scratch but t hasn't helped Thanks so much to anyone who can provide assisstance! 10. Here's the story; My dad has been issued a Toshiba laptop from his work. It has a 100% legit, genuine Windows XP Pro SP2 copy pre-installed on it. I confirmed this by the sticker on the bottom of the laptop as well as the "Is this copy of Windows legal?" button accessed via My Computer>Help>Is this copy of Windows legal? (In the menu bar). Microsoft servers say it is a genuine copy. Anyway the other day I was disabling a lot of the pre-installed junk that came with the laptop in "msconfig" and I disabled around half the stuff that didn't look like it was essential and restarted the laptop. BAM! Windows refused to load. So I then tried booting via safe mode and the "Use most recent stable config." but it still won't boot. It hangs at the Welcome screen for approx. 3 mins before giving a BSOD. Something like "blah blah blah. The system will now shutdown." (I can't check the message ATM but I will one my dad gets home) Because he needs his laptop for work, I decided to do a repair install using a pirated copy of XP Pro SP2 Corp. Edition. Anyway the laptop works fine now. The problem is though that I had to use an illegal Corp. CD key to get it to install - the key on the sticker of his laptop wasn't accepted. So he has a copy of XP Pro SP2 with an illegal key. I want to be able to change it back to the work issued legal key so that he (or the company) doesn't potentially get into trouble. He doesn't know the laptop is running a illegal key. He was issued with a XP disc with the laptop, except it's not a traditional retail or OEM one - youcannot make partitions during DOS Windows XP installation and I think you can only use it on that specific laptop. Is it possible to do another repair installation or recovery of the XP install using this disc or can I run windows activation and activate the current Corp. install using his work XP key. How can I change the key back to the work issued legal key? Thank you in advance, KellyK
  11. thanx for the quick response looks like i can burn it from my CR-RW to a CDR disc then thans heaps
  12. hey all i made an awesome xp sp2 disc w/ all the post sp2 hotfixes slipstreamed into the disc using nlite (v1.0 RC1) however when i go to add/remove programs once windows has been installed, and tick the "show programs and updates box", there are no hotfixes listed 1) why is this? on one of my earlier custom discs it shows the hotfixes there 2) how do i know if these hotfixes have been installed? is there any plance in windows where i can check to see if there are installed or not?
  13. I slipstreamed 58 Win2k Post SP4 hotfixes into my CD using nLite (v1.0 RC1). Included in these hotfixes was what I found on the MS website which was called a "Update Rollup 1 for Win2k SP4" This is what was present in add/remove programs just after I installed Win2k w/ SP4 slipstreamed: http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/5759/untitled9cn.jpg So what happened to all the hotfixes? Or did this "Update Rollup 1 for Win2k SP4" contain all the post SP4 hotfixes I also slipstreamed thus making them redundant? If the latter, can I NOT slipstream the 58 hotfixes and still be protected because of the "Update Rollup 1 for Win2k SP4"? Thanks in advance, Kelly Keyboard
