  1. that I'd think would be irrelevant since this is 98/me forum I don't remember 98/me much but norton utilities might have removed a certain file thinking its bogus file? not likely check for spyware also norton utils are not good as it seems they're good on anti-virus though.. I'd check the cd for that file and see if u can copy it over? if it doesn't exist it might have came with another program why don't u search for that file and tell us where it is called from? if that doesn't work and if u'd like to upgrade to i
  2. u should be okay with the internet on. soon sp2 will be released and the patches will be already applied...
  3. installshield or not this would be a pain in the ***. although u can modify some of the installers and put paths to it not all the installers have an option like that anyways best way to do this would be by using a batch file like spartacus posted but use "move" instead this way its going to be just 1 command. but this manual moving will cause u 1 problem, when u unistall the software the shortcuts will remain. also the registry keys will be messed up though they don't really matter...
  4. hmm why don't u install both of the drivers? after all u'll only need to configure your bios right? if 1 of the card is disabled then windows will not detect it and will not install the driver for it same goes for the other one so u can really put both of the drivers..
  5. omg ghosts the speakers are surrounded with some metals to prevent them from getting signals as the stuff inside works a bit like a radio. if its not sheltered good u might be getting radio signals or even cordless phone signals... either change them or manually shelter it also u might, well I do, hear my cdrom spin sound coming from the speakers as well as the cpu fan etc.. but its me and I'm a little picky on those and I hear the dial tone even when no one's using the phone so I might be a little wierd on that
  6. software forum? hmm hmmm hmm ?
  7. ahha competition although it looks nice I can't help it but say how is this done in 2 min? even reading and understanding is kind of hard and u have plenty of files to deal with why not go with my + alanoll's msi? u just need to put the switches? I mean I know i'm critisizing u a lot but I just don't get why u'd want to move away from just 1 file to several files?? I do appriciate the time & effort... u probably knew that I was going to do this right sorry I couldn't help it
  8. aaaaaaaaaaaaa okay I copied all the tweaks in this thread with the nice links and all and dled the attached regs rars etc. don't remember who but someone has a reg file called "AllTweaksInTheTopic.reg" and its pretty much most of it. anyways now that I have all the tweaks in here i'll try to organize them (should I, should I not, should I,should should could? too many reg's. overkill caused handle exception, abort abort, quitting. aaaaa ) eheh god knows how many times I pressed copy/paste anyways I'll see what I can do with these...
  9. ok here's the thing I can put all the reg files together but they won't be sorted in a nice way like "hardware tweaks, this tweaks that tweaks" that'd take a LOT of time.. I can sort them according to the "key" hmm same might go for application switches but ppl complain about some switches don't work for them, so i'd need to put the versions but anyways i'll see what i can do about it.. heh ok here's the other problem after putting all the regs together ppl will ask "what does this one do?" and writing that is kind of tricky
  10. also there is a reg tweak for 48bit support read here http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php?id=1115
  11. lol Wraith implemented the thumbnail option so that it looks nice that's what u get Wraith guess u need to put an option for thumbnail on|off btw for your info i'm running xplode off the cd no problems so far!!!
  12. also would u like to have a wi-fi support? asus has it
  13. look at the application switches forum I'm sure I saw 7-zip in there
  14. great then I shall try it soon no its nothing with the rules its just that I don't see any point in quoting the whole post that's it. if everyone quotes the previous post I think the bandwidth would double anyways since i'm not a mod or anything its not my place to argue about it.. ow thanks @Joe User 99 !!!
  15. I had started collecting them but that is really really boring task! and pointless indeed. of course it'd be nice but for me winguides.com does the job. they've most of the tweaks I'd want (except a few) and they also have a nice proggie called tweakmanager.. in addition there are many tweak programs for tweaking reg 2 of them afaik allows u to save them as reg files 1 being winguides website 2nd x-setup? x-something I forgot ... I'd say someone start copying and pasting all the reg's posted in here to a text file then somehow crop out the duplicates long way: save each reg to a text file then compare the txt files short way: I don't know
  16. well hm they are 2 different things xplode works during the setup as well as iceman's install post install is meant to work after the setup I think most ppl have prefered xplode as far as I can see on the front page there is no install vbs/exe sub-forum but nlite/xplode/xpcreate so u tell me..
  17. is it just me or do i see a whole big quote in there? u sure u tried that switch with the unmodified version of msi?(just making sure I haven't tried yet...)
  18. I sense a little pickyness here anyways 1 way to do it is to remove the 1394.inf so that windows will not find the hardware, 2nd way which doesn't remove it is u can disable the device 3rd why would u want to not display it? I mean how many times do u look at the network tab anyways?
  19. perhaps u could use a vb script or autoit or something like that to click on okay other than that maybe anydvd's registration box calls up another file? u mentioned "AnyDVDS.exe Setup.exe" are u trying to close both? if not try to close both also is that the correct usage??? check the taskmanager or process explorer to see if any other application is lauched upon entering the registration window
  20. :offtopic: hi there just a quote from the link mbouchard posted I dunno who writes these but its funny @mbouchard I think its easier to use .reg files but i'm sure tweakomatic's more usefull to ppl who has to modify lots of computers and do other scripting..
  21. hmm that folder u see is the folder xp uses to write the temp files for burning as seen in the "cd burning" then I believe those files u see in your cd-rw are those files left in that "cd burning" folder. ok maybe a better try: when u use the windows xp's cd burning tool it copied your files that u want to burn to that folder. its a very stupid thing but it copies anyways. I think, u once wanted to burn some files and xp copied them and when it asked u "do u want to burn these files to another cd or something" u might have pressed yes and that's why those files still exist in there and u will see those files whenever u insert a cd-r or cd-rw cause it wants to copy those files. but is this what u want? or do u simply want to display the full path ac mct mentioned? also u can disable microsoft's cd burning support...
  22. don't know html? frontpage helps okay here's the deal u collect the switches in any format u like I'll put the html version
  23. i'll try to play with the msi and post my results here btw i'm sure intelli software checks the hardware id's (that's obvious!) for that reason u wouldn't be able to use a logitech mouse with ms software??? and to me it sounds very awkward, anyways if u want to use 2 mouse software u could have a cdshell file to boot and ask ppl which type of mouse they use and from there u can install the according software I believe..
  24. alexa would be considered as spyware either get a anti-spyware program or get hijackthis they should be able to handle it..
  25. aa hmm what? where do u have a problem? with the networking or with the computer hardware or software? a p4 & 32mb graphics mem should be able to run them at least on lowest resolution. do u have latest dx9? do u have latest drivers? do u have latest patches for the games?
