sorry for the late update on this i was busy all day. anyways well as i said earlier I've installshield X which is a program to edit and create msi files. and using that i've extracted the files in the msi file. so those files are not to be found in the original cd's. the 3cd's i believe only contain a setup.exe + stupid autorun files + base folder with bunch of .pk4 files. i've changed the original doom 3.msi and put the new versions of files and new entries into the msi file and added the other files that didn't previously exist in the msi. @everyone does anyone else want this file besides todd'? if no one else wants i'll just send it to todd' (if the wants?)

I've managed it and its working properly. will be clicking here [after the upload] to dl the update package in RAR format (8.46MB) (note that the rar file is going to be in 2 parts (bc of my host's stupid php limit.., I wanted to split the file in 7zip as well but i couldn't see that option) I've copied the no cd in case (not included in these archives) to get it to work, i haven't checked if it runs without that but i'm sure at one point it'll complain about the cd not being in the drive so i'll stick to the no cd file. (not considered as warez as long as u own a copy of it!) ps: the transform failed miserably because i don't really know how to make use of it... edit: crap i cannot upload anything to my crappy **** host, will do it tomorrow (2:21 am here..)

this kind of tells me either u like to uninstall and reinstall doom3 so much or u install it on other comps as well?? aw whatever don't even answer. where are we going with this, i had just wondered.. .anyways i'll try it as well, just installed installshield x again. let me check if anything could be done. also have u tried copying the contents to the hdd? afaik it copies the files directly from the cd. ow okay here's the idea, extract the pk4 files to a folder and put the files from the update and setup like that.. updated files to installdir version.inf doom3.exe doom3Ded.exe to base dir game00.pk4 pak005.pk4 zpak001.pk4 some unneccessary documents and thats it so u can even copy files... or set the msi to copy these at the end of doom3 setup. no registry changes.. edit: okay i've used the mst file to transform the original msi. i'll setup in a few will post back if its succesfull or not

Hi there for the purpose of printing winnt.sif section in ref.chm i'm in need of a free chm editor. basically i want to remove the one's that i don't want from the ref.chm and be able to print less pages. i googled but i came up with a nice program which is not free and doesn't let me to compile the chm. so 1. is there any free chm editors 2. is there any better way to print the winnt.sif section under ref.chm (i can extract the html files from the chm but it gets even more confusing.. like that..) Thanks

@prathapml well i've already understood that he doesn't want to put it in his unattended dvd but he said he want's to take the doom3 cd whereever he goes? I cannot understand that. i could understand that if he's working at a internet cafee or something but still if u're working with lots of computers going 1 by 1 as u all know is a stupid process. so i'm wondering what the heck's he thinking of. i still want to point out the cd copy protection.. u can do it on ut2004 since the last patch removed the cd copy protection but on doom3 its not like that yet...or at least that's what i think, haven't tried....
-
it still sounds wierd to me, installing doom3 wherever u go, hell anyways not my problem, u'll encounter cd-copy protections probably anyways. if u really really want to try this go to installshield program (like dev studio etc..) and put execute doom1.1.msi after setup completes or something like that and put its silent switches in there. ow and most often u need a msp file to update. look at .net framework sp1 and office 2003 updates....

definitely a lovely mouse, i think MS (though i own many mouses from MS) should change their policies a bit about hardwares. first of all having a l-ion battery in a mouse will definitely make the mouse lighter. I've wireless intelli explorer (not using anymore) and it felt so heavy, though wireless is a nice feature. ow and those battery % bars they're lovely and at last they managed to make some sensible horizontal & vertical scrolling! i wonder if it is as good as it seems? I had bought my wireless intelli. for about the same price as this, but now using ms intelli explorer (5 button) nice mouse wired but optical and now i think it'd be very very overpriced to get such a thing that'll need recharging

well ok rephase applications not games. anyways that update is installshield update, so u can obtain the msi file just by clicking on the setup.exe and going into temp dir just copy the msi to anywhere u like than put the switches (i think it searches and installs it to the game folder but just to make sure add it to command line) AND EXCUSE ME but did u put doom3 install in your setup? if so how often do u format and how crazy r u with doom3??? ow and to add more fun into the question do u know that doom3 takes up about 1.6gb in a dvd? assuming u have a dvd-writer how long do u think your windows setup's going to take?
-
u're a little confused ppl in msfn integrate updates into windows setups not games and for most games i think u cannot intregrate the updates unless there is an official release to it...
-
hi there I know its posted in Technology News section by cutebear, http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=197787 but i wanted to tell u all who hated 6.0 as much as me. this one is as said on the acdsystems webpage is way faster than 5.0 & 6.0, so if u're sick and tired of 6.0 go with 7.0 !!! i couldn't look into it much but there seems to be some new stuff in there!!!

webroots spy sweeper spyware blaster pest patrol registry first aid get rid of the xp firewall, i mean its good but i don't really know what's going on with it. doesn't report much, go with sygate or zone alarm or to disable everything on your comp go with symantec internet stuff. sp2 has pop-up blocker its good, i used adsgone for a while good. i usually choose the programs where there are tools like immunize, i've disabled most of the ad's so instead of blocking them it prevents them from loading, same goes with spyware and pop-ups... this is as far as i can remember right now... for each thing like spyware, registry, defrag i prefer using more than 1 program. most programs leave left overs, if u're really looking for complete removal of bogus stuff use more than 1..

Odd screen (IE5 about box)
XtremeMaC replied to GeneralMandible's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003

holy crap! what why? why'd u try to look like bs? at least when u're a guy. ****.
-
that list only contains critical updates. otherwise i'm sure there are plenty .netframe work comes with sp2. but it's not installed,

hey there i cannot open your link (host not found) it might just be bc of my stupid isp but just checking.... edit: ok now it works. (told ya its my isp ) I could provide a mirror if u want...

thanks for the tip but even if i wanted to play the old gta i could play with compatibility mode (run at 640*480) & win 95/98 comp) solves most gaming problems...
-
which means the setup will be prompting u for a serial key during setup....

right click on my comp (or go to control panel and click on system) then u should be able to see the system restore tab go there and click turn off system restore on all drives. (or decrease the gb's its given) its usefull if u create restore points often. unless u know how to use it its not usefull. let me explain like this say u've just installed windows on september 1. (the 1st system restore point is created) then u've started installing lots of programs and documents and whatnot. your hdd uses 10gb's now. on sept 26 u installed a program that seems to be corrupting your computer, u want to get rid of it. so today u choose to restore, u go to system restore and clicked on return to previous state, and u're waiting, feeling very happy that the problem will be fixed. minutes pass by. your hdd is making lots of noises etc. and moments later it says completed. you look at your hdd and now u're using 2gb of your hdd. wonder why? all your stuff is deleted to go back to previous state which was the day when u reinstalled windows but of course that doesn't have to be the state. create points before u install a suspicious program or a driver, then go back to it. but then again read more about it b4 u do anything. edit: (ok now it took 10min to write this, baggers02 have already responded )

awesome idea! very well done thanks! (version number, definitely a good idea!)
-
I hate ps2 & xbox, they're taken priority in releasing games! I want the pc version at the same time!

ppl are wierd. did u install it to your hard drive? with knowing whats gonna happen u should install stuff that are not out yet on virtual pc's or test machines!!!! did u install it to the same partition as your other windows? if so the program files are likely to get messed up. well hoping u at least installed it to another name (not windows, maybe winnt??) u can delete the folder but it will be very messy and u'll suffer from low performance. to at least get rid of the boot menu, go enable hidden files & folders, then edit boot.ini to remove the entry of longhorn!
