type services.msc and disable the processes and this will make sure that they won't run again on next boot. though i'd not mess with them unless u're sure of what u're doing, so checkout http://www.blackviper.com for services. there is a service using lsass.exe that's not a virus. but i've seen isass.exe i think u're talking about that and i'd learn the name of the virus first then go to symantec's webpage to find specific tools to remove it here's a couple of things u can do: go get autoruns from http://www.sysinternals.com or use msconfig (i'd use autoruns) to delete the startup items (most viruses are run at startup) then i'd go and delete those suspicious files. also if u have virus its more than likely that u have lots of spyware, so i'd search for spyware with at least 2-3 tools then I WOULD BE concerned about my security. u wouldn't want to end up not being able to surf the net, or having your xp running at 100% slower. so yea start getting concerned about your security or else u might end up losing information, stuff getting deleted, more and more things!..(i know u're joking but still...) i personally use norton corp edition for my virus needs and sygate personal firewall.. (but i also like zonealarm and mcafee firewalls, so i'm really undeciced which one to use) and your computer is I think the limit of what xp should run on, so i'd say its okay for it to run slow. since u're new, i'm going to suggest u nLite, which is a program that takes out unneccessary stuff from windows cd so they wont get installed. its a really easy program so don't be frightened by it. U should really use it since u've 4gb hdd. i'm guessing right now your xp takes about a 1.5gb of your hdd and with nlite that can go down to 500-700mb, U can see the nlite forum from the main forum page (u should learn how to navigate so i'm not giving u the link) having said that u should really look at what kind of TITLE the forums have. this forum u've posted is called "THE POLL CENTER" and unless i'm mistaken (by far) this post of yours is not a poll ... and if u're looking for a already made poll on which antitivus is better checkout the software hangout and poll center forums...

Should Microsoft do a complete recode of Windows?
XtremeMaC replied to gamehead200's topic in The Poll Center
well if u want to move away from windows, u've lots of choices thesedays. I'm just hoping longhorn will be good. otherwise unless some FORCE is used on Billy i don't think a rewrite of a code will happen. u know, unless millions of ppl start emailing microsoft and walking to seattle and wanting their money back or wanting a complete re-write of a product now here's what i actually think. now there is a core which's known to have some bugs. it can be fixed so i'd go look at individual components to fix them. and MS is doing that. (though very slowly ) when u have a stable system going u wouldn't want to change it since u don't know how the new one's going to be right?. they'll try new things on the new windows and they won't have much knowledge in those. so it'll be a failure unless they take time on it and debug it carefully. but now as i said earlier, there are specific known bugs and they should be fixed..... -
I want to get an aio bc it has printer/scanner/fotocopier. my current scanner is very slow the bigger ones scan faster and they can be used as fotocopy machines. well my printer is pretty old and I don't change printers often. i'm fine with the quality i don't need any higher. last thing i'm going to change often is a printer. instead i change the cartidge. i'm not really a frequent photo-printing person. never ever had the cloging u've mentioed. what i understand from your sentences is i think u print lots of picture containing stuff and therefor might be having those issues. but i just want to get an aio as I've stated b4. tigerdirect seems to have nice networking stuff, i'll look into that more. thanks. so does anyone have any suggestions on which AIO to buy?
-
hi there we've 4 computers in the house, since then I was using 1 pc for all scanning/printing purposes and when someone printed a document it'd go through the network and print from the MAIN pc(if its on). Now that computer is going to be changed with a laptop so there won't be a pc to connect the printer/scanner. so what I want to do is i want to get a network printer (all-in-one prefered) so that all the pc's that are connected to the network can easily print without having the need to connect their computers to the printer or without the need to turn on another computer to print a single document. All 4 computers are (will be) connected to the LAN. I don't really care if the aio printer has ability to read memory cards. but i'd like it to be able to print on cd's, though i anticipate aio's would have an option like that epson: i've looked at epson it doesn't have a networked aio, it has 2 networked printers so i'm not sure if i want to go with that hp: has 4-5 networked aio printers. they look nice. lexmark: couldn't really understand, didn't have much time to look at them (not a good printer page they have, no price no nothing comparable...) and I haven't yet looked at other brands. my current printer: Hp deskjet 895cxi (which is a networked printer but i've to get "HP Jetdirect External Print Servers hardware" for it to be doing what i want it to do and its pretty expensive....$129 if I can find it.. instead of buying that i want to get a new aio since my scanner is so slow and my printer is pretty old. now with these information and a price lower than $400, which brand and what model printer (aio) would u suggest me?

What Does This Mean.... Game Has Been Leaked?
XtremeMaC replied to Orange™'s topic in Gamers Hangout
offtopic hl2 will be released in mid november!!! -
that very much depends on what u're compressing if u're compressing a video or a music file u won't probably even recognize the difference. but documents and stuff like that can really be shrinked a lot. also have u tried different dictionary sizes? different compression method?

XtremeMaC replied to Astalavista's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
r u in the usa? if so i know some sites. also u can just google it u know. just type blank media or something. also try pricewatch and pricegrabber for a comparison of prices.. -
i think its better though i cannot really read what u've written in there i can guess the one at the bottom is darph but above one doesn't make much sense. (i'm at 1600x1200, but still..)

i really like the menu and its font, i used it for a while kid or child something:) 1 thing that i like is when u hover the mouse over the different options under menu those <> stuff could go up & down according to where u're hovering. i think it'd be better I agree on the darkness of the page ..

why don't u buy a dvd-/+ rw instead? u have a dvd writer.. for blank dvd media ritek - ridata is the best.. -
I usually compare the zipped and rar'ed one. 50% of time rar is better 50% 7zip is better.

i recently did the sam thing (fire up vc and installed ultimate mod) i don't have any problems like u've encountered I've geforce 4 440 mx 64mb. 1. try the default buttons, pressing shift afaik doesn't turn on the siren. i think its caps lock "target mission" or something similar... 2. forcing aa & Af , r u crazy? on ti4200 i don't think there is much aa and af!! don't be mistaken when it appears in nvidia driver panel. 3. cd/dvd issue is totally okay, its about the access time of your cd-rom, if u don't like it get a no-cd patch. 4. lower the sound quality, overall this just states me that your computers lags in overall performance. decrease the resolution close the frame limiter. try different settings change the nvidia options to performance instead of quality...

well i've 1.3.1 and 2.0 trial for life time as well -
I had pioneer a04 -104 back when it was first released. it was 2x and i was happy with it. Now I've lite-on 811s (8x) and i'm more than happy with it most ppl won't really care about this but the ability for backing up my games is an important option for me. I think pioneers still cannot do it but lite-on is pretty good at it. lite-on's are cheap and very very good. if u want to pay more get plextor. but before doing anything else go look at www.tomshardware.com and check for the reviews. they should have a page with most popular dvd+/-rw 's compared in 1 page....

I'm about to buy winfast leadtek 256mb 6800 GT 8x AGP i think this question is mostly hardware based to i'd move it I'd buy an asus motherboard I'd buy amd 64 (i know its not very common but i'd still get it) also some stuff can be cpu specific, so some programs are utilitiesed for amd some for intel.... sata would be a nice choice. if u don't believe in the speed at least the cables look nice get at least 1gb ram, i've seen pc 4400 get them everyone is offering u 9600xt and look at tomshardware there is a huge gap between 9600xt's and x800's 6800's so if u have the budget and real hardcore gamer get 6800. also if u get 6800 u don't have to get a motherboard with pci-x slot
