  1. I've done as much research as I seem to be able to do. My school gave me a Fujitsu laptop with Windows 7 x64 preloaded with so much junk that it takes literally 10 minutes to get to the desktop. I want to reformat with a fresh installation but using the same key/license. The bottom of the laptop has a COA sticker that says it's "Windows 7 Pro OA" which from what I gather I cannot activate online or through the telephone. From what I understand I have to copy the pkeyconfig.xrm-ms files from within system32 and SysWOW64, as well as tokens.dat and copy them into my new installation. Then I use "slmgr.vbs -ipk <key>" to install the key. Is this the key from the "Windows 7 Pro OA" COA sticker? Will there be any other files necessary? Anything else I should keep in mind before I wipe the drive? Edit: Will this even work if slmgr -dli says it's a VOLUME_KMSCLIENT?
  2. I want to use nLite to integrate my Ethernet drivers, SMBus drivers, and IDE drivers from the nForce 4 platform drivers for Windows XP (link). The problem is that there are two inf files in the ethernet directory: nvnetbus.inf and nvenetfd.inf. Which do I integrate? What's the difference? Likewise, under the SMBus directory, there is nf4sys.inf and nvsmbus.inf. Again, what's the difference? Under the WinXP IDE folder, there are many inf files: legacy\nvatabus.inf legacy\nvraid.inf sata_ide\nvata.inf sataraid\nvraid.inf My hard drive uses an IDE ribbon on the primary interface as a master. My DVD burner uses an IDE ribbon on the secondary interface as a master. Which INF file(s) should I integrate for this setup? I'm so confused
  3. It's a good idea, and essentially, what I am trying to do. But it seems that none of your sources are official. How do you know you have all the hotfixes? And they're all for SP2? I'd like an official list from Microsoft of hotfixes for XP SP2 that have not been superseded.
  4. 1. Know that the second tuesday of every month is Microsoft Patch Day, and some time during that day you could go to the Microsoft Update site to see what's new for your system. 2. You could visit http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx to see what updates came out when and look at the most recent security bulletins. 3. You could visit http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...tin/notify.mspx and register for notification when bulletins are released. 4. You could keep watching this forum. While the first page does not get updated immediately (and that is only because Incroyable Hulk likes to do some real testing before just putting the information out there), quite often the end of the thread will have been updated by several people as soon as any new releases are posted. 1. I know that 2. I already go there for security bulletins. I'm wondering about other updates, though. 3. I already receive these notifications 4. I understand, but I was wondering how the people in this thread know that a new patch has come out (that fixes a bug or something; I know security bulletins are posted on technet, but what about other patches).
  5. I'm just wondering.. how do you guys find out about these hotfixes (other than the security ones on TechNet)?
  6. KB899588 - replaced by KB905749 KB896727 - replaced by KB896688 KB894391 - replaced by KB902400
  7. Does anyone know how to get both embedded wmv files and wmv links working with Firefox?
  8. This is a problem with MPC, not titou2k's pack. It's not necessary to save to an ini file. You can edit the options directly in the window to make the same change. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes but we aim compatibility and convinience. Anyway, that's not really a big deal. And I don't really see where you can change /0 to /1 without the .ini file. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

  10. It deals with the decoder. Personally, I used what titou2k suggested before I even read his post. That's the only problem I'm having Edit: And it seems titou2k hasn't been active for a few weeks
  11. Same problem here. Any fixes? Edit: I spoke too soon. I was reluctant to install the WM10lite pack because of this problem on my old nLited system, but I went ahead anyway and apparantly the problem is gone now. Edit2: Wee.. spoke too soon again. The problem only appears after copying the plugins and components from here to their respective directories in Firefox's directory.
  12. I went to go to the uawiki today for this very reason but it seems to be down. Can anyone describe the difference between 1, 2, and 3 quickly for me?
  13. how exactly did you get the updated files? did you install d3 then install the update and see which files were updated? I dont think you can copy those directly over to the cds/dvd.. My dvd (I combined the 3 cd's following a guide) doesnt even have some of the files you listed.. btw this has nothing to do with how often i install doom 3.. i just like to keep all my apps/games with the latest version and without patches to be installed afterwards.. as far as i know, the original nocd file wont work on 1.1
  14. @XtremeMaC Where did I say I want to take the CD's with me whereever I go? That's not it at all.. prathapml has the right idea.. Copy protections arent exactly hard to get around either.. @prathapml I have tried /a with msiexec but it tells me to launch it from setup.exe instead (which then I can't use the switch).. so I'm kinda stuck on this
  15. Uhh.. by "windows setup" do you mean unattended? I dont do unattended installations.. this is so whenever i go to install doom3, i dont have to install a patch with it.. no matter how much time im wasting/saving by doing this, i like to keep my software up to date with patches preferrably integrated in. I have run the installshield file and went to the temp dir, got the msi file, and the other files, and tried the /a switch, but it didnt work..
