  1. The MSDOS.SYS approach did NOT work for me, but patching explorer did. [Options] BootWarn=0 Anything helps when the number of clicks are minimize. Correct address 2853 (hex): 0F 85 56 6A 00 00 and replace with 90 90 90 90 90 90
  2. I was able to get the latest version of Microsoft Security Essentials working. I even got the definitions updated. I also tried Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease 4.7.0202.0 but failed. We will have to stick with 4.6.305.0. I will post detail instructions later to make sure I have all my ducks in a row
  3. Does anyone have a complete list of all Internet Explorer SP3 Updates?
  4. Have you tried HDCopy 2.104 http://web.archive.org/web/20040618235540/http://home.tiscali.de/zdata/mainpage_e.htm
  5. Most manufacturers install their own 3rd party hibernation applications. Me personally, whenever I buy a new computer, I strip it clean of all Diagnostics, System Utilities, Management software etc....I wonder if the people that have had problems with ACPI, was it due to 3rd party software or Win98 not being updated with the latest hotfixes?
  6. Here's how: <link> Windows 9x works just fine with ACPI. I don't know why people try to avoid it so much. I have added it on laptops that didn't have BIOS equivalency. I have laptops that didn't install hibernation by default, but is working on all my system. Sometimes, no matter how lazy we are, if you skip steps in following instructions you are asking for trouble. ACPI is software based not hardware.
  7. You need this registry key, I have revised the DSCLIENT app in SP to add the key during default installation. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/154025-connecting-a-windows-98-and-windows-7-through-a-network/?p=1014332 HKLM,"System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA","LMCompatibility",0x10001,03,00,00,00
  8. TmEE, I made an updated USB Stack 2.0 for you. It is identical to the one included in SP3. The only difference is the WinME files have been removed. Since they are already present on your system, there was no need for them. Same instructions applies. 9. I don't know about Win8, but Win7 has no problems with connecting. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/154025-connecting-a-windows-98-and-windows-7-through-a-network/?hl=dsclient
  10. I use Win98 more than my Win 7 machine. Take consideration, I don't used a computer everyday either. I'm going to dual boot a Win XP and Win98 machine when the WinXP SP4 is done. I have had a vacation, I read most of the time now. I might post 5 times every couple months. I'm not as active anymore either.
  11. Just because we don't like each other, doesn't mean they should be deprive credit for what they help me accomplish. I am a man of Principle. What are you?
  12. Curious how in other places you publicly badmouth some of these same people.... jaclaz People are entitled to their own opinion and so am I. Maybe the names you have highlighted are not so innocent. Maybe you should do a google search and see where the problems have stemmed from Mr. Link master. Maybe you should come over to foolsdesign and ask me that same question? Maybe you should realize that I am a grown @ss man and will not let you or the others disrespect me subliminally, which have been done in the past. But you see over here, posts get deleted and freedom is limited. I don't start fights, but I end them quick. It was ok for those same guys to badmouth me and the SP in the past, but when I defended myself, now I'm the bad guy. You sir are a contradiction. Again, thanks for your help and at the same the time....................................................You should already know the rest.
  13. A very big thanks to God for giving me life to do this, and to Gape, MDGx, erpdude8, Petr, CLASYS, Tihiy, DuckDaffy, eGorZ, swgreed, hp38guser, safir, sybesma, ssmokee, HSI, Tarun, azagahl, DanyBoss, miko, eidenk, sleffing, Drugwash, rloew, dencorso, jds, Fredledingue, gerislamico, Nexus_06, loblo, bphlpt, jaclaz, LoneCrusader, TmEE, Dave-H, RFMaster and all other contributors ! I couldn't have done this without you guys. Thanks to all of the testers who help me fixed the bugs. 13,000+ downloads in 7 months not including the main site or other sites, feeds, torrents or the past downloads etc....... The reason for this post is, I'm starting to lose interest in Win98. We are at a stand still and the most valuable people aren't as active. I will create a Windows ME SP fully updated like Win98 SE. My lack of knowledge is limited, so the SP can only go so far. I hope you guys understand, that we are moving to extinction because of the limitations. I have grown over time and realize a lot of issues occur from clashing egos. Imagine if I charged a $1 for the SP, I would be living lovely. Its not about money, its about surviving and we are expiring. I'm hoping to coincide with many of you legends praying I become one someday as well.
  14. Thanks, I have done that and it works. The command seems to be correct.
  15. If you guys want Hibernation on a non based ACPI laptop/notebook and maybe desktop, you must add the reg key below before all of your hardware drivers or there will be IRQ conflicts, crashes and system lockups. 1. Install a clean version of Windows 98 with no drivers added. Make sure you have all of the Win98 cab files save to the drive before continuing. 2. Add the registry key below. 3. Go to Control Panel and click Add New Hardware. 4. Let it scan/detect the hardware and point to the location of the Win98 cab files when asked. 5. Let the files install and then reboot. 6. Install the rest of your hardware drivers. Thats it, thats all. I tried but can't automate because all other hardware drivers needs to be removed or not installed before hibernation. This has worked on a Dell C600 and Compaq Armada E500 for testing. Both are non based ACPI computers. Enjoy Credit goes to http://www.helpwithwindows.com/windows98/tune-37.html REGEDIT4[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Detect]"ACPIOption"=dword:00000001;
  16. This is not true. I have a Compaq E500 Armada which is not ACPI-based, and I just installed the hibernation feature on it. It might even work on desktops too, but I only have laptops to test on ATM. I am trying to automate the process right now, but have come across a road block.
  17. Can anyone confirm this for 2014? TIMEZONE.EXE 02-9-2-03 02-2-1-11[Commands]StartDate Date that Daylight Saving Time begins (Hour-DayofWeek-Week-Month).EndDate Date that Daylight Saving Time ends (Hour-DayOfWeek-Week-Month).
  18. I wonder if those GOOGLERS ever found the drivers. I searched for years before I gave up because there was never any evidence drivers for Win98 existed.
  19. If I were you, I would update to SP 3.30, which was release yesterday. Always use the latest version. I will give your fix a test run. Thanks
  20. I have updated the instructions above http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/157418-udf-ntfs-exfat/?p=1030505
  21. Got it working I will add shortcuts for all files on the Desktop. Users can sort them out later. Yes........................................
  22. I could have created a shortcut, but then where? I always move my shortcuts after installation of programs. I am very organized. Thanks for the feedback. You can create your own shortcut and put it wherever you like.
  23. Only certain files can be slipstreamed/updated. If you are going to end up installing the SP anyway, then just install after a clean install of Win 98 SE. How do you guys like the Word 97 option? @ Drugwash, I actually added a starter to launch the CHM file so users can read through all of the instructions thoroughly before installing.
