  1. @Yzöwl I believe the edit button has been disabled after some recent things that have happened. It may be a delay like an hour to edit the post, or it's completely disabled. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  2. Just because I remembered this that someone told me, but it's a long standing joke from the beginning days of google in the states Go to Google, Type in the box: French Military Victories and hit "I'm Feeling Lucky" You'll notice that it now points to an AlbinoBlackSheep.com page, but it used to be Google's response to that phrase. Google also had a few others, like "What's the meaning of life, the world, and everything?" and it'd spit out the phrase from HitchHiker's Guide to the Universe. I'm sure Google's programmers added these little jokes, because there are quite a few of them, but yeah. (I by no means think the French don't have any military victories, I can name quite a few. But this could be partly where the stereotypical French "losers" sentiment comes from in the states, especially in the age of the internet)
  3. You ask why $500 is the price FOR A SITE LICENSE or even $10 for an individual license... Wraith uses his personal time to code this program. It's been in development for i believe almost 2 years. That being said...that's alot of man hours for a single person. Figure he spent even 100 hours writing this program, then that what? $1 for every 10 hours? or even $5 for every hour? Figure the program would take someone about 10 hours to get it to do everything XPlode does with all the functionality and the XML parser and what have you...now figure that person get's paid about $15 an hour, that's $150 right? That may be cheaper and if that's the route you chose then so be it. Most companies might just not be bothered and order the license just to not be bothered with in house development. Now if you wanted something cheap, just use BATCH code that's enabled on EVERY system upon install untill disabled. That's cheap, and easy to use. As for the small minority ruining it for the majority, well....welcome to the world. Browse through history, and you'll find this happens all throughout it.
  4. Just spent abotu 2 hours trying to get it to work with multiple combinations of changing the I386. The REALLY interesting thing though...deleteing NTLDR from teh disc does NOTHING. lol. Now if only I have a disassembler...(these aren't 32bit executables so no PE program will work)
  5. man, if i didn't know better, I would think you just wrote all that....but in reality...you're quoting the multiboot guide. Next time, USE THE QUOTE TAGS!
  6. I think it would be kinda of interesting if there was every any sort of governing body that oversaw the EU and US together. Sort of like a super EU you could say. The vote to create such a Union would be quite interesting in my opinion. If you find the resentment between the French and Germans alittle harsh, imagine what it would be if the US was thrown in to the mix. Not only would there be the patriotic people who don't want they country even remotely controlled by another (though in today's economy that's impossible), there are those that have resents toward the other countries. Being an American I can honestly say I 've witnessed some of those resentments. There is the stereotypical french comments that are created, the Holocaust, the American Revolution. Of the major European powers in Europe, I wouldn't be surprised if the US hasn't p***ed atleast one of them off in the last 250 years. Even that amount of time isn't enough to not hold grudges. There are still people that make judgements on the American Revolution about how the US was superior to the British. American has a superiority complex. I won't deny that. It probably doesn't help though that we have a military base in most European Nations, or that we feel we "bailed" Europe out during both world wars (not that I feel that way, but I'll be honest sometimes it's fun to joke about it). I can completely understand the French not wanting to approve the EU constitution. They are a proud people. Some might say alittle uptight, but they are a proud people. It also comes down to what's in the constitution. I won't lie and say I have any idea what's in it, but if it's anything like the US constitution...it's going to take 200 years before it's even close to workable in most situations. Then that would also mean any laws enacted by a member nation, could be easily overruled by the "federal" level, and then thrown into court for 10-20 years. There could also be brides and such from industries (movie and music specifically) to get their laws past in which it would affect the entire union. Alright, I'm just ramblign now, so I best stop where it is. I'm usually pretty open when it comes to politics, but please keep the flaming to a minimum. I know it will happen simply because of the topic, but yeah...tone it down a bit.
  7. I've made an ISO file that bumps right at the 4.37 gig barrier without any problems. The problems that may occur is it's a simulation are: 1. Wrong File System. Joliet and UDF are best, however only Joliet is a bootable type. 2. You recieve teh VirtualPC error of the 2MB or 2K multiple thing which is fixed by using a virtual CDrom and have VirtualPC grab that. Daemon Tools is just the freeware alternative then Alcohol 120%, but both work just the same. To completely avoid this issue, would be to use VMWare as it doesn't have the error. If it's physical medium: 1. File System like mentioned above. 2. Bad media 3. Burner error. Try burning at a slower speed if possible. Perhaps even a firmware upgrade may solve the problem.
  8. the user settings are applied yet. The theme settings are even entered till the desktop is loaded. At RunOnceEX it's still in a limbo state of somethings are quite there yet. If restarted prior to the desktop being initialized, then some settings are caught untill the second restart there after. It's one reason I suggest to have the restart at the end, and to leave enough time to let the desktop load.
  9. not about this topic. About SETUP BILLBOARDS yes, but about customizing the Autorun program no. You can use a resource Editor to change the text and background and such, but that's about it. Otherwise you have to make your own.
  10. why do you need this? regedit32.exe /s regfile.reg Is VERY simple to use. Also, REG is NO WHERE close to a language. Batch can be converted to EXE because you can make an intepreter for teh language. .REG files aren't a language. They're a data structure
  11. odd... It should be of type HTML Application I believe. Only thing I can think of is that the File Associations are messed up. Do you get the "Open With" box when you try and open it? check in your C:\Windows\System32 folder for a file called mshta.exe and see if it exists.
  12. the switches are used to make the installation silent. Each installer has it's own. Depends on the program. You could either just be using the wrong switch, or the switch is case sensitive.
  13. assuming you didn't use nLite... Is the error can't OPEN or can't FIND? Also wrong forum.
  14. Enable Referer IDs to be sent. Disable your firewall. Turn off ANY privacy software.
  15. http://unattended.msfn.org/global/virtual.htm About virtualPC's limitation, read the VERY LAST BULLET of the page. Gonna be kicking yourself now... You still haven't asked a question
  16. USE A VIRTUAL MACHINE! I dont' see a problem here or a question that needs an answer. I generally advise people to STEAR CLEAR OF USING NLITE TO REMOVE COMPONENTS AND ADD HOTFIXES till they know what they're doing on their own.
  17. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...0445&hl=browser http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...8365&hl=browser Hoorah for searching EDIT:: Beat ya Simon
  18. Just thought I'd comment on this... Most Winamp Plugins are simple DLL files that are extracted into the Plugin Folder in the Winamp Directory. That being said, you could install all your Plugins and then create a new SFX file that installs them all and possibly save some space on your CD. There is no registration needed for the DLL files as they're parsed at runtime by Winamp. If you're concerned about where to install the plugins, you have a couple of options.. The MSI is capable of using the INSTALLDIR property to change the default path to one you specify and then use that in the SFX. You could also USE the default path and have %ProgramFiles%\Winamp as the path for the SFX. And on the note of adding your own settings prior to startup, ALL settings for Winamp's internals are saved in studio.xnl and Winamp.ini both located in Winamp's main directory. You could preset how you like Winamp, and copy those over as well.
  19. RunOnceEX can almost be directly transfered to XPlode. As there is no built in method in RunOnceEX to call for a second CD, i then assume you have it as one of your actions to be executed. This is the same for XPlode. Just translate the RunOnceEX lines to XML and you should be fine.
  20. for to work, you also need to enable Branding of IE [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=www.yahoo.com as for this [GuiRunOnce] "%systemdrive%\start.cmd" command9= "%SystemDrive%\D\BTS_DPs_Control_Panels.cmd" "%systemdrive%\cleanup.cmd" I would add command# to the other two lines as well just to make sure they're executed in order [GuiRunOnce] command7= "%systemdrive%\start.cmd" command8= "%SystemDrive%\D\BTS_DPs_Control_Panels.cmd" command9= "%systemdrive%\cleanup.cmd" You also have OEMPreInstall stated twice, once should be sufficient. Everything else looks alright, but withotu any specific error, can't really pindown the cause. So keep us informed.
  21. @bledd I believe the point of his post is that he wants to learn how nLite is doing it not just assuming it works. @erik_demon There's also a little blerb on the Unattended site http://unattended.msfn.org/global/crashswitch.htm
  22. http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/drivers/drivers.htm
  23. i have ONE thing to say on this matter....DON'T advance to the next stage when you don't understand the basics. RunOnceEX would be the NEXT STAGE. Grasp teh concept of Batch scripting. It's not that hard. Right a couple of test scripts. There's a page the details the relevant commands. RunOnceEX becomes EASY after that. As for where to put it....good to know you read and didn't pick and choose. And to quote the VERY FIRST PAGE
  24. Add REGEDIT4 just after the registry tag at the top, but before the first registry key.
