  1. Make sure you are using the MSI file to launch the installs. If you use the Install.EXE file it simply just launches the MSI file and closes. So, your batch file will think that it's completed. Let me know if this works or doesn't work for you.
  2. You should be able to use Enterprise Manager and access SERVERNAME\SHAREPOINT You need to backup 2 databases... STS_Config and STS_SERVERNAME_1 You can probably start here... http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...-us/stsf20.mspx
  3. We should turn this thread into an IT story thread... I got a call from a user once. She said that her computer was doing "weird" things. OK, so I go all the way across the building and yeah, it's doing weird things. So, I get to looking at the keyboard and I notice it looks like it's wet. So I ask her, "Did you spill something on this?" And she says "Yeah... But I unplugged it and took it to the bathroom and rinsed it off." I was like "You what!?" She said "That's what my father used to do, and he's a "tech guy" just like you." Just like me? Except he's probably unemployed People are stupid.
  4. Windows Service Pack SE is only 5 years old... Like I said before... SE is just a service pack to Gold.
  5. I'm done argueing with all of you. Stay with Windows 98. At the end of the day Windows XP Pro makes my life so much easier. Anything I have to say has already been said, so just reread the whole post and that's what I have to say. Oh yeah... send the right packet to port 139 on any Windows 98 (including SE) PC and BSOD. Did you know that? It has always been a problem and it has YET to be fixed. The only way to fix it... block port 139.
  6. Madars: I'm not even going to say anything about your post except, with your systems specs it may be the best for you. (128MB RAM)
  7. Microsoft Support is great. They are always curious and helpful. You won't be speaking to some id*** kid when you call. You will be speaking to a true professional. It's a lot less painless than you might believe. Take that from someone who sat on hold for 9 hours just 2 days ago with them. I called them about a Server 2003 issue due to a crash though, that's why it took so long. Just be patient. You will probably be speaking to someone in India, but they are all curious and helpful.
  8. No need to create a new image... just simply make a copy of your SIF file, edit it to be the way you want it and you have 2 images from one set of files.
  9. No, you can restrict the usage of files in Windows 2000. You need to do it under COMPUTER and not USER
  10. If you are trying to use this in GuiRunOnce it's because you can't double quote...
  11. Why not use Windows Update Serivces? (that's what the new/beta version is called..) Or System Update Services? (old version)
  12. I need something I can use in a manner like this... cmdmail to@somewhere.com "here's a message" Get the idea?
  13. Topic Moved Try not to do this again in the future... It's bad enough when people do it, it's even worse when people do it and know they are doing it but still do it anyways.
  14. Since it parses the first % just use "Alcohol 120%%"
  15. Welcome! Can you provide just a little more information. Are you speaking of when you are typing an email address and it auto completes? Or are you speaking of when you are searching through the address book?
  16. If you go here you will see that he himself refers to it as "Hacked windows 98" End of arguments. Don't be so hateful. Maybe he was proud that he was able to do it.... Now, my mama used to say "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"
  17. Does anyone know of a free command prompt e-mail client? Or, does anyone know of a way to automate sending an email through Exchange? The idea being I want our server to e-mail me if the power ever goes out. I can do this VIA use of batter backup but the limitation is it simply lets you run a command. All help is appreciated.
  18. Thank you much for the reply. What I am looking at doing is a little more than just the conversion. It also has to do with making sure that SharePoint Services uses it after the conversion.
  19. Deleted duplicate post... Be careful not to post duplicates.
  20. I am using Windows 2003 Small Business Server 2003 Premium with SQL 2000. SharePoint Services is installed by default to use an MSDE database. I would like to convert it to a SQL database. Has anyone ever done this? Does anyone have any information that might help me?
  21. Looks like this might work for you... http://www.prime-expert.com/flashboot/
  22. First thing you should do.... @echo off put that at the top, then lose all of the other @'s
