  1. Just an Update on this topic. I made a Fully Unattended (x86) Windows 7 HomePremium (unaltered ISO) via AUTOUNATTEND, put it on USB along with the USB3 Driver (and the Autounattend) and using the GRUB4DOS(MBR)/FIRADISK, plugged in the USB3 Card, plugged in a CLEAN (i.e. did a DISKPART on it) SATA HDD, and it DID install via one of the FRONT USB2 ports (remember the "it boots" above?). It was somewhat "touch-and-go" becuase The MoBo SOMETIMES did not SEE the USB2 Stick. Took a couple of reboots (turnoff/turn on). Wierd part? Now NONE of the other USB's are functional, although they ARE "seen" by the OS. Only the USB3 Add-In is functional (for the Keyboard/Mouse). The Wired NIC is totally non-Functional as well ("seen" by the OS - "no cable connected"). The Add-in Wireless functions normally. Baffled... Potentially a bad Power Supply? I have ONE NEW one (400w) that I hesitate to stick in it since it wasn't cheap and is for another PC I'm assembling. Yes, the Add-In Video works fine and undoubtedly draws a lot of power BUT with it OUT and using the "integrated" the original symptoms exist.
  2. From the size of that... Is it some kind of AIO?
  3. First, is this EXACTY related to "Windows 7" or more to "Software". If the Latter (not Windows 7), it's not even relevant and most people would miss being able to help. http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/80-application-installs/ Second, without saying WHAT software, we can NOT help you. MANY Softwares have "adware" that installs separately from the Software you really want. This can be overcome DEPENDING on which Software you refer to. If the Ads are PART of the Software because it's a "free" version, then it would have to be HACKED and (as a general rule) we don't help with those. State the Software that you refer to and be more clear on your intent. Or... short answer - NO there's no "ini" that can be used to prevent Adware from being installed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adware
  4. Holy... GOOOOOOOGLE and get a REAL "Win7 w/SP1" PRE-Integrated! They IMMEDIATELY jump RIGHT UP for you! Third link down. Other links are there as well. Find one listed that says "SP1u" (preferably) or just "SP1" and the language you want. THEY ARE THERE! Slip all Post-SP1 with DISM. Post-SP1 Updates - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-12112013/ Quit fooling around wasting your time (and ours).
  5. I think you may have missed installing the VPC2007 Add-On (an ISO inside the Installation folder) into the Guest. After you fire up the Guest, there will be a Selection in the pull-downs at the top of VPC. You may need to update the MSI Installer inside the Guest. EVERYTHING will be "laggie" until you install it/them. Try that.
  6. Pay attention! 1 - No, use DISM as PinkFreud suggested. Info on how-to is all over the place. 2 - Easier, just get a pre-slipped as Kel suggested. Google "windows 7" digitalriver
  7. According to this - http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15478 It suggests "uninstalling" "Windows VPC" and using VPC2007 instead. Google this "Windows Virtual PC" "windows 7"You used the wrong one (see WikiPedia). It's primarily for non-DOS based OS, e.g. XP Virtual Mode, using VT Technology, although it works without it. Again, wrong one.HTH
  8. Are you SERIOUSLY talking about the PageFile on the Root of the OS Drive? It SOUNDS like you want to "eliminate" it, then Defrag...
  9. Don't see where that mentions a CD on USB Drive. Just creating an ISO/CD. You're actuallly in the wrong sub-forum. You should be looking/posting here for nLite - http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/89-nlite/ And posting/looking here for Install from USB - http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/157-install-windows-from-usb/ Also pay attention to FAQ's in nLite sub-forum.
  10. You mean "Snap.Do Engine", don't you? A few suggested Cleaners here - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=128158 I didn't see MalwareBytes listed, but the poster did use it.
  11. WUD is a contributed list, I believe and includes a gaggle of "superseded" updates. It does, however, include "other" stuff that UDC does not, as UDC limits itself to "just the basics" that will prevent Windows Update from "finding" other than "optionals". You COULD use WUD to get the "other" stuff (non-Critical, non-Service-Pack), however, since it allows for selections (de-select Critical and the SP3 unless you NEED SP3 as well). HTH EDIT EDIT EDIT!!!! Double post due to a "glitch". Would appreciate a Mod or Super deleting this one.

  13. UGH!!! You may have to you the/a Net Framework Cleaner. I recently upgraded my CPU to a dual-core and Repair Installed and it REALLY horked up. Apparently, the Installers "see" not only REG files but also contents of the Net folders. You may want to check that. Google for "dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip". It's legit and has a "selective clean"... edit - see this - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/microsoft-net-framework-35-service-pack-1-and-net/9de432e4-86f9-4849-9162-96fa90c3473c BTW, it now goes up to dotNetv4.0 (AFAIKR).
  14. Which version of Virtual PC (2004 or 2007) on what Host OS and installing which Guest OS (you said "any OS setup")? I use it regularly and have no problems whatsoever (aside from the hardware limitations, e.g. USB access). Of course, that includes all DOS/Win3.x/Win9x/Win2k/WinXP/Win2k3 but NOT any WinNT3.x/4.0 OS. You MAY be lacking the latest ServicePack (but shouldn't matter)?
  15. You could try this... http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Do a little light reading here - http://www.speedguide.net/tcpoptimizer.php As was stated, your ISP will limit you no matter how much you optimize.
  16. TY... made note of this as I have acquired a "new-used" Win7 Pro OEM (legit refurb) machine.
  17. O/T (but not much)... I have a VERY silly question, if anyone can answer this. According to this - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969393 IE7 for XP and Server 2003 x64 w/SP2 has TWO different versions available, but my findings show === NO CLUE about the following one: An RC? 7.00.5730.1100 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003**** 7.00.5730.1300 Internet Explorer 7 ** FOLLOWING ONE IS ONLY OFFERED (both x86 and x64)**** 7.00.5730.1300 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003n/a 7.00.6000.16386 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Vista (included in Vista, which SvcPack?)**** 7.00.6000.16441 Internet Explorer 7 ** FOLLOWING TWO ARE NOT OFFERED ** (vista_gdr.070219-1500?) 7.00.6000.16441 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64 ???WHERE??? 7.00.6000.16441 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP SP2 x64 ???WHERE???n/a 7.00.6001.1800 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Server 2008 and for Windows Vista SP1when looking for the supposed later version. Please note that the Versions checked were according to the "IEXPLORE.EXE". Interestingly, the one downloaded from the WSUS list predates the Offered one but are exactly the same file (Feb05,2007 vs Aug14,2007). It LOOKS like some kind of misinformation/error on MS' part. Did they include some "version" based upon a Fix/Update/Hotfix? Asking because planning on installing x64 on one or two machines and it just seemed, well, ODD...
  18. ??? Have you tried a "clean" XP install and THEN the LATEST "WUA" before even attempting WU? I have and there is absolutely no problem. See first three files listed - http://xdot.tk/updates.html Second file is "created" from MS Downloads (the WUA). See this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/157027-windows-update-agent-which-version-do-you-have/

  20. Does this help? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/145691-windows-settings-that-i-cant-find-in-nlite/
  21. Dunno about a KMS-Activated - probably still will work? Don't have Windows 8, but I found this and I assume this is what you mean - Info - http://www.anandtech.com/show/7425/windows-81-update-now-available Info and how to get it - http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57608376-285/how-to-download-the-official-microsoft-windows-8.1-iso/
  22. Um, yeah... Post #2 above provided this link - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=findpost&pid=1015557 Scrolling down, you'll see that too.
  23. No PCI-e USB-2 adapters available locally. Yes, there's a Driver Mini-CD with it. Not goimg to bother with searching for a USB-2 adapter either - heck with it. At least I have the USB-3 one for, say, USB-3 External HDD Enclosure. Also have a USB->PS2 cable for those pesky times when I don't have an available USB KBD/Mouse available. Will attempt a reflash - later. If it still fails - eBay-City! (been busy with other older stuff to clean the room out)
  24. Assuming you mean this "Y"-cable? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-USB-Female-to-2-USB-A-Male-Power-Y-Cable-Extension-/390175349100 PCI-e USB3 Add-in ($20) is a no-go. USB->PS/2 Adapter ($20) is a no-go. (Besides, BIOS shouldnt even support PS/2 and should ALWAYS use "legacy".) Also both are no-go on my dead (may as well be) Dell E521 ("Keyboard error"). This MoBo just flat-out ignores the keyboard but gives no error whatsoever. Those fuses are like REALLY tiny. I can barely see them with reading glasses on AND a magnifying glass. Are they "glued" on somehow, BTW? And where on earth would I get the correct replacements? And (again) why do all six "sets" of USB's (based on the number of fuses) fail the keyboard detection? It DOES boot to a USB stick, so "power", really for sure? Fuses, really for sure? Something extremely odd about this. ( Almost not worth all of this... )
  25. HUH??? What does that mean? Those "specs" are more than fine "non-stripped"...
