  1. Makes no sense and I can't find anything indicating what those settings mean (regardless of the fact I SAID that color mattered IF USING CSEL). As was already found. Glad you tried it and it worked. FP Connector is a separate issue. Yes, too bad you didn't notice that BIOS setting before and the associated Device Manager stuff. Also too bad we have wasted a LOT of time on your "problems". "BLACK TEETH"??? "METAL SPOT"??? What's THAT? Take a pic and upload it. That ALSO makes no sense! My Connectors have NO "BLACK TEETH" AFAICT... Another Goose Chase?
  2. Look at this.
  3. Err... guess I could have given the link...
  4. In addition to needing the Error ("The page cannot be displayed"?)... Should have been simple (other than IF you are using a Router). Sounds like maybe the Modem/Router is blocking. Mine allowed External IF it was from an External (not on my network) PC, but I had to change my Modem/Router for INTERNAL (when using e.g. No-IP Domain Name).
  5. You initially said AVG (not updated) found and "fixed" it. A version that works on Win95b? Maybe IT goobered the MBR. And I highly doubt that MBR has anything to do with MSDOS-mode. Some PC's need an INF/Registry entry to enable UDMA. I'm not sure if 95b can do more than UDMA33 (LoneCrusader can answer that?).As far as the MBR fdisk /mbrfrom a 95b/c EBD or "F8->Command Prompt Only"
  6. "Touche, Monsieur Pussycat!" @peter777 - SEARCH! Also, in your other thread, you're "upping" your post counts. Try using the "edit" button next time.
  7. Possible work-around (but still won't be "clean") - 1 - Play LOW without clipping, EQ-ing until "best sound" without clip. 2 - Record onto OTHER equipment (e.g. good Cassette with "input" level knob/fader/whatever) with microphones in front of "source" speakers (1), boosting Gain as best possible while "listening" with THIS equipment's "monitors". New Recording is New Source. Toss the Old Source - it has problems. New source is probably the best you'll get. Alternative - Re-record using Pro Sound equipment (mixer+EQ) to better control Gain (see my references). This has worked relatively good for me. Thx, Trip for backing me up. "Giggity-Giggity-GIGO"...
  8. Hmmm... appears to be MIA and the link -X- gave is "?over limit?" (whatever...) Go here http://rapidlibrary.com/files/nlaom21-exe_ulzbvcfbcyi89on.htmlThe Direct Link given is valid and I've confirmed it to be the correct one (I got it before links "died"). English/Portuguese-Brazil only. There are several other references that appear to be valid but didn't bother with them. nlaom21.exe MD5 - a85989e1de9d078d029c9ce6ff98e3bd SHA1 - 7a68ebaa7820fd9053c2d16b9833bf2b60a8b907 CRC32 - fe50a3df I'm not really sure why it "disappeared" from other links. BUT, it APPEARS to have several 7-Zip modules in it and one I can't identify. Most people bite-the-bullet and build their own from "scratch". Information on how-to is on nLite website. They see this as more reliable. "Doing math yourself is much more educational than using a calculator."
  9. 1 - ??? No... but the EXE are MS-signed. 2 - HashMyFiles
  10. Google this - "o2ksr1adl.exe" intitle:index.of
  11. DOS 6.x - 14.9 KB (15,259 bytes) / 15.0 KB (15,360 bytes) Microsoft ® File Compression Utility Version 2.00 Copyright © Microsoft Corp. 1990-1992. All rights reserved. Win9x/2K (Win2k Resource Kit) - 105 KB (107,792 bytes) Microsoft ® File Compression Utility Version 2.50 Copyright © Microsoft Corp. 1990-1994. All rights reserved. Server 2003 Resource Kit (don't remember "version" or 16-bit compatible) - www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17657 Appears that versions prior to v2.x were KWAJ. Quantum? No clue! Probably not AFAICT. COMPRESS.EXE only compresses single files, BTW. Maybe this will help... LZx-compression... If you LOOK at the "change log" in the DIAMOND.TXT, you'll not that Quantum and MS-ZIP are NEWER than "compress". Get the CAB-SDK and look it over. Try this "compress.exe" intitle:index.ofYOU get it, check it ("compress /?"), test it, decide whether it serves your purpose. No, I won't share it. I gave a link to another topic where a good link USED to be, but it's no longer valid. The one you have is better anyway. You are obsessed! I follow the Board Rules.
  12. Well, I DID suggest getting a DIFFERENT Sound Card Driver version, but the OP INSISTED theirs was "better".
  13. How odd that an 16-bit EBD.CAB (read as DOS) is "extracted" to RAMDRIVE when run from AUTOEXEC.BAT. Are you saying you need to run DIAMOND.EXE under DOS??? Won't happen... DOS never used DIAMOND.EXE/EXTRACT but rather used COMPRESS/EXPAND for Installs. I have "obtained" Version (32) 1.00.0520 (12/16/94) of DIAMOND and EXTRACT and see no relevance to your request. A CAB is a CAB and there are TWO Extracts (16-bit to EXTRACT under 16-bit DOS and 32-bit EXTRACT under 32-Bit Windows). The MAIN thing of that version you have is the LZX compression, which was apparently "yanked" in later versions. A little background here and here as well. Some info about Cab SDK Software here. I also find this in the documentation (not much help, though...) From CabPack v1.4 So, you see I believe it has nothing to do with 16-bit other than perhaps LFN.You are chasing a ghost.
  14. No, you did NOT! I specifically told you NUSB AFTER IE6, as did LoneCrusader! Maybe it IS best you "give up" since you refuse to follow instructions. If it works, don't fix it. I gave links to where this all started from (post #18 pointing to YOUR Topics). If there is no issue without NUSB, don't bother... note: NUSB doesn't cure everything in regards to USB-attached Devices. Read the NUSB Thread for more info.
  15. 1 - On Reboot let it do WHATEVER and do NOT say "no" to anything! 2 - YES, I said ALL sound-related (your card has all of that) 3 - YES, it's always best to install Official FIRST and then Unofficial if you're doing individuals.
  16. Be aware HFSlip Checker may not be up-to-date...
  17. You got it EXCEPT!!! 5a and 5b - The Instructions say NOTHING about "safe mode". Combine into "Remove Devices then Install NUSB then Reboot". Re-read the Instructions. And let NUSB files "stomp" on any other files... Yes, you probably are causing a conflict between the OnBoard and Add-In. BIOS has a place to disable - disable ALL Onboard sound-related devices (Midi/Game and AC97). (I snagged the manual to double-check) ?Hopefully the Aureal Reference Drivers are OK - one would "assume" they are (you said so)... Fair Warning - I will "assume" that NUSB would be installed LAST after any other Official Updates. Unofficial are a bit trickier (NUSB is one of them). Example - some updates WILL install a different Explorer (IE6? Can't remember).
  18. Look at my previous post - I edited it. That link you can't get to is the HP Website. You must be using a browser that doesn't work. Here's the link to it ("Original v1 Driver") ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp16001-16500/sp16454.exe The "older date" file in NUSB is the one you want. I would say you need to start from "scratch" (reinstall the OS) and do NOT install Via USB Drivers at ALL (if you have a Driver Install Package)!!! Let the OS do the USB stuff. Then, install the Sound Card to see if you are still OK. THEN follow the NUSB Instructions TO THE LETTER. I'm betting you've "horked" the OS by doing things wrong. You ARE aware that you need to install the VIA Chipset Drivers after your Initial Install, aren't you? This your MotherBoard (one has Network, one does Not)? Chipset Drivers are there... DO NOT install the USB Drivers! You want the NUSB Replacement!!! (Documentation for two different SouthBridge) Odd, it says it already has OnBoard Sound - you want to use the Diamond instead? DISABLE The Onboard in the BIOS (or SOMEWHERE)!!!
  19. Too bad you didn't write down WHICH "files to overwrite", as EXPLORER.EXE Date is OLDER than 98SE's "stock" one. Also, is this the driver you're using for the sound card? Give it a shot... Sorry, I don't understand that. This (even though no reply given) implies that the card needs to be in a different slot? I've had some "oddball" cards that refused to function properly unless moved. Looking for something on Monster and so far found not much useful. AH!! Found the User Guide. http://178.63.46.56/users/files/24f/67/436_Driver_pour_Diamond_Multimedia_MX300.pdf FWIW, here's a newer Beta Driver for it http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Hardware/multimedia/Diamond/MonsterSoundII/102rel.exe
  20. No, you're cool. You were just being informed. WinSetupFromUSB (AFAIK) is only setting up a USB device for further use. We have a few Topics on Install From USB via different methods/software. As I said, nLite as an example will alleviate your efforts in setting up the Install. After that, as I said. We will help within bounds as necessary. edit (following your edit) - Sadly, it look like they'll have to live with a reinstall? OR (unsure about this - haven't tried in a while) In Registry, try this - http://www.ehow.com/how_7226310_deactivate-xp-pro-product-key.html Sounds vaguely familiar to me. Unsure if this will allow "clones". Maybe try it on another PC "offline" edit (e.g. LiveXP/WinBuilder/WinPE) after Clone the Drive and before Boot. edit2 - AH! You may need to do a couple more things anyway. Some tips. The HDD (in the MBR) is directly tied to that entry. Also note that the Computer ID will need to be different between them before allowing Local Communication.
  21. AH!!! And by not Activating AND using the "Change License Key" provided by MS and THEN Activating, you would be totally within bounds. Your "process" looks like it would only work with a PURE OEM-specific Install. I haven't tried it myself and would rather not get into it. The info is here on MSFN and throughout the Web as to the requirements and won't be reiterated in this thread. Other option is pretty expensive (so-called Volume) and may no longer be available anyway, besides not being worth it for four PC's. I think that's all the info you'll get on that from dencorso and I (Rules link at the top).
  22. Well, Nuhi (the Creator) apparently didn't make it quite clear BUT if you look in the nLite folder you'll see a "LICENSE.TXT". I, however, see no reason why you can't use it to determine what files get integrated and modified so you can replicate it "by hand" for your "commercial" purposes. Just don't use any nLite modules, etc. IDE won't require SATA Drivers - RAID is probably not what you want. edit - MSFN nLite FAQ. And we'll still help as long as you adhere to the Agreement.
  23. OK, that helps - Refresh this page and look at my last post. You haven't been following instructions. Addendum - That file listed in the Boot Log has nothing to do with NUSB. You are causing a failed 98SE install by ignoring instructions. There is MORE than just USB Drivers in the package. Extract it with (e.g.) 7-Zip and have a look-see! edit - and PERHAPS the Sound Card is causing some kind of "conflict" with USB (IRQ, Memory, etc.).
  24. I question the purpose of using NUSB if you already have VIA USB 2.0 Drivers. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Hmm... this and this seems to be where this all started from. Perhaps it would best serve you to provide SPECIFIC hardware make/model beyond just the Hard Disk and Sound Card. The Install Instructions are pretty explicit - 1 - DO WHAT IT SAYS - EVERYTHING! 2 - NO, do NOT use any other USB Drivers! That's what NUSB is supposed to do. You defeat the purpose and cause failures.
