  1. Blur-ray...another fad from sony, like their mini-disc players, or the media (which i cant remember the name) that wa sonly used in digital camcorders by them which never took off...same old story. Surely going though a lot of '~50GB optical media' will be a pain in the a** still? Why not set up a satallite link from your house to my house jcarle? lol j/k erm, its a tough one with wanting to send it off site to somewhere not locally. with it being so much data. Invent a water proof/bomb proof/emp proof hard drive cady? lol Is there any company that lives driving distance from you who can store a NAS station for you? and you ethernet it across? Dunno, just random thinking atm..
  2. lol, u got to much time on ur hands!
  3. Or maybe tree size? http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml freeware, similar principle.
  4. Transparent windows annoy the hell out of me. also I play a lot of 3d games, so sounds buggy to me in that aspect.
  5. HAHA! Nice prog Jaqie! Freeware is gooood! lol
  6. yeh, the new icon for it is Vista style (as its the vista version) so kinda out of place with the rest of XPize icons now! lol
  7. Totally right! I've NEVER reinstalled windows when changing a Processor, only when changing a motherboard.

  10. My throughput for my raptors in RAID 0 is 140MB/sec... Now the sound of that makes it even more tempting! lol SATAII onboard I take it?
  11. Depending on the camera some appear as mass removable storage, and some appear as a Digital camera device in My computer (which is best as you can use windows inbuilt like jcarle said) Try plugging it in a different PC? Turn the camera on when you plug it in to USB? Picasa is very good freeware.
  12. Probably most likely, will probably try it wen I do a new format and install alcohol then try offline, then insatll daemon, find the culprit But i do agree most likely Alcohol.
  13. Anyway! Back to hardware suggestions! lol
  14. I have two 74GB raptors, they're fast as hell, but man they're noisy. It's the only thing I can hear in my computer as everything else is silent. VERY noisey, like a plane takign off (well not quite) remember testing one, **** fast, but yes, very noisey. I'd consider getting 2 rapters, just if and are with the noise...but the speed
  15. Gonna add another vote for a new HDD! Im also a Western Digital man, I can never hear mine read/write etc, got 3, two 80GBs in Raid 0 and one 200GB store. Also, My dads got a Duran 1.2ghz system with 512mb ram, was slowing down like hell, even with a re-format, got a nice new WD drive and the speed was like it was new again!
  16. Yep it is a repost
  17. Same as me, for me i set Winzip to take priority of file types, althought winrar takes rar file types, but now winzip supports rar files, might let winzip take it.

    Task Manager

Im sure someone can tell you what u need to keep. What you can do is post a screenshot of all the tasks listed. To disable/enable the programs that start do this: Click Start > Run then type: msconfig Then a new window will open, click on the Startup Tab, and there will be a list of all the programs with tick boxes that start when you log in. You can get hold of third part software that can be more user firendly, like StartEd from OuterTechnologies link: http://www.outertech.com/?_charisma_page=i...2614e145de83b7e
  19. Yeh, that is a sweet idea, small compact and easy to swop! I wanna make one!
  20. Winzip 11 now supports .rar files.
  21. Anyway, that case on his site is well nice!
  22. very nice job! I prefer it without the logo, doe look out of place wih XP Pro.
  23. yeh, that annoying sptd device i have to disable wen i want to perform an offline defrag with PD! dunno who to blame...lol
  24. aha! Found a fix: http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showt...26574&st=20 Which is: 'sptd.sys' which is loaded by Daemon Tools.....'sptd.sys' is also used by Alcohol 120%. Disabling this allows Perfect Disk to work fine in offline mode......here are directions if anyone is using this driver....... 1) Right click on “My Computer” and select “Manage” 2) Click on Device Manager 3) Click “View” and then select “Show Hidden Devices” 4) Click “View” and then select “Devices by Connection” 5) Scroll down until you see 'sptd' 6) Right click on 'sptd' and select “Disable”. Click “Yes” to confirm disabling of this device Windows will prompt you to reboot. Select “Reboot Later” 7) Open Raxco PerfectDisk v.8 and select “Offline Defragmentation”. 8) Reboot system 9) Perform a boot time defragmentation pass with PerfectDisk 10) After the boot time defrag has completed and Windows has restarted, re-enable sptd by following the above instructions and selecting “Enable”.
  25. hhmm, didnt seem to work...disables Alcohol and Daemon tools, also Norton Ghost...still same error...will have to contact their support maybe wen i can access their site!
