Im using the Zalman Aero Flower: I checked temps last night with hmonitor, and was getting between 46-49'c on idle. And Memory temps were at 47'c Need to check on load, so seems pretty high to me, but then i've never clcoked an opteron b4!

wat temps are good for the opteron as well?

probably can go higher, but havent change the voltages yet, wanna burn it in abit at this speed, then see if i can take it higher.

i nearly went for a 180, but was like £30 more expensive, and for 200MHz, I couldnt justify it BTW, mines using the Zalman Aero Flower Cooler.

I deceided to go for a cheaper option of an upgrade and went for an Dual Core Opteron 175, from an Athlon 3700+ Been playing with clock speeds now and went from stock: To eventually this: Which has gained me 1000 points in 3Dmark06 CPU score, and is running very stable so far! So just wondered your view on this.

At the moment I have a Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with a 3700+ Athlon64 I play a lot of games and want to upgrade to dual core, i can get old of some 939 socket dual core cpus, and have looked at the Operton 175 CPU. What are the Opterons like for gaming rigs? good bad? Cause i cant afford a full system upgrade atm, this is why im looking at just a CPU upgrade...would an Opteron be a good cheap way of upgrading to dual core (as i cont find many decent athlon 939 dual cores) or wait and save for a new AM2 socket rig?

Hey guys, just brought myself one of the new 8600GTS Graphics card, superb card! BUT i have noticed that during load times, must be when the graphics card memory is loading, you can hear a buzzing noise from the card. It only happens during loading scenes, for example it would happen in 3DMark06 when the graphics tests woudl load, but not for the CPU tests. any ideas?

Full Story So, if you want, you can pay 20p more for a song, that is 256kbps in quality, a LOT better than 128kbps, and also have it DRM free, so you can use the song on anything, not just your own iPod etc!

Im gonna get another PC from the suite tomorrow, and see if it installs on that. Just weird that you can install 2000 fine, but even upgrading to XP doesnt work...

not hard drive, tried a different one and ran chkdisk anyway.... hav also trie dloading fail safe bio ssettings, nothing.

Ok, as some of you know, I work at a school/college. We have had 2 of our suites upgraded with new PC's, other suites round the college haven't had new PC's yet, but we have updated them from 2000 to XP, no problems. We come to our Music suite, last room to be upgraded. Come to do a fresh install of XP on one to get them ready to be ghosted. Installs XP fine, reboots to go into windows for the first time...windows load screen freezes...nothing. Try safe mode...no problem. Had a look, all devices in hardware manager installed except graphics...found the driver, its some intel onboard graphics...installs drivers, still same problem on loading windows...freezes. Install windows 2000, totally fine, install graphics drivers, no problem all working like before. I have tried several XP disks, NLited, Original XP with no SP2 on, A disk with XP and only SP2... All give the same problem...tried different drivers....nothing Also tried disablign onboard graphics, put a PCI card in, same problem, so rules out graphics card.... any ideas??? XP just simple wont load, except in safe mode, which says a driver issue...but where can i look for this? any ideas? Edit: We ran windows xp compatibility test, all passed, the Board is some obscure QDI P7GL...checked QDI website, nothing.
