  1. cheers, knew it was a registry entry, just couldnt find it!
  2. i removed it with nlite from the desktop...how do i put it back, lol, without creating a shortcut through explorer!
  3. Dunno if this should have gone in hardware or software forums....anyway I have: x2 80gig drives in Raid0 (all progs and windows) and 1 200gig (store, backup) Both are SATAI where would be best to put my page file on this setup? I hear way to many stories of wat to do.
  4. Work, shared connection amoung other schools in our area:
  5. I use to have this problem on GeForce 5 series when that had this driver to install. It was something like you had to uninstall the driver, then delete the files in the INF directory in C:\Windows that corresponded with that device. then Install the latest ones. Was something weird like that, with me sometimes it woudl work, then all of a sudden fail to start.
  6. Defo, might have to pay a bit more, but well worth it! I love my wavemaster case.
  7. for the price of it, may as well buy the fans instead of play with the wiring. But each to his own.
  8. So what dvd software u using?
  9. Maybe this will be what your after: http://www.cooltechpc.com/c/ctpc/std/sku=ZM-F1.html Your running an open case, by that you mean no side panel etc? but still case mounted? If so, what case?
  10. The Creative Audigy will have 5.1 higher models have 6.1/7.1, on the Speakers Sub Woofer, there will be an upmix switch on the back; this will upmix 5.1 to 7.1. Again, if your only experiencing 2.1 in DVD playback, nearly always is a software configuration. In power DVD, for example, you select what speakers you have in the audio settings.
  11. First off, wat DVD software are you using? Most the time its to do with configuring the software with the speakers. I hav the Audigy 2 Platinum ex, set up as 6.1 in the Creative console, then set to 6.1 in the Player software, I use Power DVD 7.
  12. the time ive encounted this prob is faulty memory...doesnt always show in memtest...
  13. at the end of the day, you've heard views and opinions from a few people, so just down to how much u wanna spend and wat direction you wana go.
  14. interesting convo...i see major differences between semprons and athlons..semprons are the budget CPU, like celerons between pentiums... anyway... video editing? Defo Intel for that. Although i do use my 3700 for video editing and have good encoding times. Personally, I think dual cores are highly over rated atm. (imo) as applicatons arent optimzed for dual/multi core cpus fully yet.
  15. Actually, one other good way is to try and be clever, but ignorant at the same time. This one trick sinched it for me. When I was in HS I was working at the library as a class. It was a light day, as it was everyday, so I decided to look up some pranking on PCs. I've already learned the basics, so when I came across the net send command, I was excited at what I could do with it in a LAN enviroment. Well, being typical, I got on a PC and entered net send * THE LIBRARY MAN IS WATCHING YOU. I put that because our librarian had a program to spy on the PC's at the library, and remotely control them. I sent it out, and to my surprise, it went out to EVERY SINGLE PC in the network, with the exception of the main office's PC's because they where on a different network. The router stopped the flood, just not within that LAN. It was awesome, I fessed up, and the admin just laughed. It was there that the relationship opened up, he lessened my restrictions. NET SEND is disabled in SP2, the Messenger service is disabled.
  16. Yeh, go for the 1MB L2 Cache one, I wouldnt go for anything lower now, which is why I aint getting some of the AMD dual cores, as they only do 512 most, if not all of them. U may wanna check for a bios update, just incase.
  17. 256kB VS 512kB no, 256kB VS 1024kB yes... Maybe for you, but made a difference for me. It's how much u notice it, of course u will notice it more from 256 to 1024, but still a difference from 256 to 512.
  18. yeh, just not sure how compatible they are, as i said, seen it done b4, just not 100% sure so i cant say really.
  19. A full list of compatible CPUs for your board can be found here: http://www.asrock.com/support/CPU_Support/...el=K8NF4G-SATA2 Not sure about the Turion, so can't really say, have heard mobile CPUs work in desktop systems, dunno about this though. As for Athlon over Sempron, biggest difference is Level2 Cache. Semprons are either 128 or 256 L2 Cache. Where as Athlon are 512 or 1MB L2 cache, the more cache, the faster/better basically. I have the A64 3700+ with 1MB L2 Cache, superb Chip. Not a bad price either. Hope that helps.
  20. Yucky grey market drives. DON'T buy hard drives from Overclockers UK! When I worked their they shipped them in jiffy bags...thats it, OEM drives in jiffy bags...and then we had to deal with LOTS of returns! lol No matter what, they wouldn't change the shipping method. Always nice to hear a thud when your hard drive gets posted through your letter box
  21. Agreed. Has never bothered me. Surely you would want to have this included in nLite, not XPize? As its a windows feature that might be able to be done that way?? Would make more sense.
