  3. Totally agree with you! IMO, 60 is brilliant, and 30 is still perfectly playable!
  4. cable management is important no matter how many cables/drives you got. Ive seen many small systems with horrible cables, makes life hard wen trying to repair and you gotta rip all the **** cables out! For me I get through WAY to many cables ties lol!
  5. ok, dont matter, windows firewall was blocking the request...gotta troop round all the PCs now, lol
  6. We are running windows server 2003, with Windows XP Pro workstations. The network itself runs fine. We are writing a batch file to shutdown PC's on the network using the command: shutdown -s -m \\IT3-staff-pc -t 60 With no success...we have tested it on computers within the workgroup and not the domain and it works. So we came to try and PING the workstations, getting timeouts... We can however Ping our static IPs such as Access points, Printers etc. Are we missing sometihng that is preventing our computers that run via DHCP to ping?
  7. Except I know what I'm doing, and they know that I know what I'm doing, so everything works out. Their choice to give it you at the end of the day each to his own.
  8. if your network admin was sensible, he would never give you that access...its a security compromise. with some colleges internet access might be filtered externally anyway.
  9. Requirement!? I bet it does make it interesting!
  10. Whats on your wishlist this year for Christmas? Maybe sommit you have asked for, got, getting... 13. I think its gotta be down to "family fun". For those of you who know the game on PS2 "BUZZ" its a brilliant family game, have played it a bit with the misses family and her sister. great fun as a family. I think this is what Nintendo are aiming for.

  15. When building PC's for people, I always install AVG free, lowers cost, and if they wanna buy an antivirus later on, there free to do so. With the message popup that was sent out to AVG users about 7.5, if people read the small print, they will realise 7.5 is still free, probably why poeple are confused, tey dotn read the small print
  16. Just press the ALT key once and they appear for you.
  17. thread aimed at tablets, not laptops... All our science staff use tablets, and they all use these shortcuts, so the trick wouldnt work for us unfortunately

  20. Out of you choice, defo Logitech.
  21. Looks like you have Extended desktop enables in your display properties, and you have set monitor 2 as your default monitor. Right click on your desktop > Properties Then select the Settings tab, and you should see 2 squares with 1 and 2 in, which tells you wat monitors yu have. From there you can select the monitor with number 1 in, and tick the box, set this as my default monitor.
  22. Tech: "Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?" Caller: "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." Tech: "What sort of trouble?" Caller: "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." Tech: "Went away?" Caller: "They disappeared." Tech: "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?" Caller: "Nothing." Tech: "Nothing?" Caller: "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type." Tech: "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" Caller: "How do I tell?" Tech: "Can you see the "C" prompt on the screen?" Caller: "What's a sea-prompt?" Tech: "Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?" Caller: "There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type." Tech: "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" Caller: "What's a monitor?" Tech: "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" Caller: "I don't know." Tech: "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" Caller: "...Yes, I think so." Tech: "Great! Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." Caller: "...Yes, it is." Tech: "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?" Caller: "No." Tech: "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." Caller: "...Okay, here it is." Tech: "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." Caller: "I can't reach." Tech: "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" Caller: "No." Tech: "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" Caller: "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle-it's because it's dark." Tech: "Dark?" Caller: "Yes-the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." Tech: "Well, turn on the office light then." Caller: "I can't." Tech: "No? Why not?" Caller: "Because there's a power outage." Tech: "A power... a power outage? Aha! Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?" CUST: "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." Tech: "Good! Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." Caller: "Really? Is it that bad?" Tech: "Yes, I'm afraid it is." Caller: "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" Tech: "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."
