  1. Official files are only these two versions: Q234697 contains Voltrack.vxd 4.10.1999 and is intended for Microsoft Windows 98 Standard Edition, PC-AT Japanese only. Q273468 contains Voltrack.vxd 4.10.1998 and it is exactly the same as the file contained on both Windows 98 Standard and Second Editions. Petr
  2. Well, megaupload download work as follow: 1) in the top right of the page when you access it there is a countdown to wait xx seconds 2) when the timeout expires a window appears OVER the same area 3) this window has a X button on top right corner 4) knowing that conventionally clicking on a X button means to close a window..... 5) you might want to try clicking on that button and looking what is UNDER that window jaclaz This is valid just in case you are extremely lucky. I always see just: All download slots (500) assigned to your country (Czech Republic) are in use. Please try again later. From my point of view, megaupload is absolutely useless. Radpidshare is much better for me but some people hate it. Petr
  3. Do you mean http://ftp.ntu.edu.tw/ftp//cpatch/msupdate.../269874usa8.exe for example? It is not password protected. Petr http://ftp.mdgx.com/files/Q306889.EXE Petr
  4. Yes I did that but am still getting the alert. Clicking "View certificate" shows the issuer etc. (i.e. when I'm going to check my bank account online the issuer is my bank) but when I go through the wizard/procedure to import the certificate even after it says "import successful" I still get the pop-up. The issuer is your bank? Strange. Most banks I know have cerificates issued by Verisign or similar cerification authority. I think the behavior you describe is expected and correct. You should install the root cerificate of the issuer is you want to get rid of the security alert. Petr
  5. This dialog appears ONLY for "https://" URLs. Have you try to refresh the list of root certificates by rootsupd package as suggested by erpdude8? If you click "View Cerificate" - who is the issuer? Petr
  6. Is it possible to make a screenshot or write EXACTLY what is written in this window? "something about certificates" is not very good description. "whenever I go to a site where I have to enter my user-name and password." - does it mean that it is just when you go to specific login page? What is the URL? Does it start with "https://"? What Internet browser do you use? Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera? And what version? Original Internet Explorer 5.0 contains expired certificates but the unofficial servicepack contains new ones. Petr
  7. This is well known problem with expired certificates in original IE5.0, if you intstall http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...en/rootsupd.exe or IE6, everything should be OK.
  8. So BIOS shows 64 MB, Windows 98 shows 64 MB, so there is no problem with Windows 98, right? eidenk already told you. Is it so big problem to click the link? There is clearly written: "Memtest86 is thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. " In summary, you have problem with your hardware, not with Windows 98, so this is not the right place to ask for help, maybe this place would be better: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=5 Petr
  9. Just an idea - isn't possible that these file names are in different character set than is the default character set of your Windows 98? Petr
  10. VIA USB 2.0 driver is available here: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageI...70&SubCatID=122 but I don't think it will work with other chipset than VIA. You can try it of course. Petr
  11. Hi Ninho, I have written "OEMs that sign the contract will receive the login name/password" in my post - and I know none, I'm sorry. Petr
  12. Windows Me never contained USB 2.0 driver, as of older systems, it was introduced just to Windows 2000 SP4. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/bus/U...SB2support.mspx But I have just found in Windows XP usbport.inf the following lines: %PCI\CC_0C0320.DeviceDesc%=EHCI.Dev,PCI\CC_0C0320 ; provides backward compatibilty with USB2.0 on WinMe and ; Windows 2000 %USB\ROOT_HUB20.DeviceDesc%=ROOTHUB.Dev,USB\ROOT_HUB20 ; -------------------------------------------------------------- ; EHCI ; -------------------------------------------------------------- ; For Win95... [EHCI.Dev] AddReg=EHCI.AddReg, USB.AddReg CopyFiles=OHCI.CopyFiles,USB.CopyFiles DelFiles=USB.DelFiles [EHCI.AddReg] HKR,,NTMPDriver,,usbehci.sys HKR,,EnumPropPages,,"usbui.dll,USBControllerPropPageProvider" [EHCI.CopyFiles] usbehci.sys usbport.sys I don't know if it could mean that these drivers could be used on 9x systems. Has anybody tested it? (BTW, EHCI = USB 2.0, UHCI = USB 1.0 and 1.1, OHCI = Firewire and USB 1.0 and 1.1, AHCI = SATA) Petr
  13. I have tried to check what is on the Orangewre website and INF files and it seems to be like this: 1. Orangeware has no service or support for end customers, just for OEMs. 2. OEMs that sign the contract will receive the login name/password and can download: from http://www.orangeware.com/usb2oemICH4.html http://www.orangeware.com/1102/Intelv1_2.zip This driver supports Intel ICH4 and ICH5 EHCI controlers with any subvendor and subdevice ID number. This driver supports Windows 98/ME only. This driver (version 1.1.0.2) is available from many different OEM websites. from http://www.orangeware.com/oemusb2.html http://www.orangeware.com/1102/U2v242.exe This driver supports ATI, ALi, Nvidia, VIA EHCI controllers with any subvendor and subdevice ID number and NEC, SiS and Intel ICH4 with specific subvendor and subdevice ID numbers. The latest version of this driver I have found on Kouwell website: http://www.kouwell.com.tw/driver/USB/2580N.zip and it is version 2.4.0.0. From http://www.orangeware.com/updateusb2oemtrial.html http://www.orangeware.com/1102/U2v241t.exe This driver supports all EHCI compliant USB controllers but it times out at the end of each month. It would be interesting to see if this driver really works on the in this thread mentioned SiS motherboards, as well as on boards with Intel ICH5, ICH6, ICH7 southbridges. 3. Since the latest service packs for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 contain EHCI drivers, there is no longer any reason to use Orangeware drivers on these systems. (I suppose) 4. The only systems that still require Orangeware drivers remain Windows 98SE and ME now. 5. All motherboard manufaturers see almost no demand for Windows 98SE/ME support and therefore not want to pay royalties and for adding new IDs. 6. There are still people who want to run Windows 98SE or ME on newer motherboards with SiS, NEC or Intel chipsets but no driver is available. And probably never will be if no OEM will ask to add the right IDs to the Orangeware driver. Petr
  14. PCMark2002 can use it if you copy it to its folder.. But after few tests it ends with no free resources available and (almost) frozen system. Visual Foxpro 8 and 9 use it. BTW, GDI+ can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...3C-BE590FEAA05A Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 98; Windows ME; Windows NT; Windows XP Petr
  15. I don't know if it can solve your problem but Total Commander can change folders date/time. Petr
  16. Maybe this is the driver Eck mentioned: http://file-us.abit.com.tw/pub/download/dr...52/sis_usb2.zip Petr
  17. Nvidia Windows 98 driver (81.98) officially supports the following GeForce6 AGP cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 NVIDIA GeForce 6600 NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra Petr Well, that's what they imply in one place. **However** if one downloads aforesaid 81.98 as I optimistically did this morning (UK time), an unpack it, the Readme says (in part): Operating systems supported --------------------------- Microsoft Windows 98 Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me) Adapters supported ------------------ NVIDIA RIVA TNT ...... ...... NVIDIA Quadro FX 2000 Not a mention of the 6200. I'm not sure what to conclude. Any further ideas? While on this topic, I guess it's always better to download the manufacturer's driver rather than Nvidia; e.g. I'd download a graphics driver from Gainward for their Nvidia based cards. This list of adapters in my post was taken for the INF file, i.e. it is the most accurate. Another reliable source are Release Notes (v81.98). Petr
  18. Nvidia Windows 98 driver (81.98) officially supports the following GeForce6 AGP cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 NVIDIA GeForce 6600 NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XE NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra Petr
  19. What about to add registry changes from KB912475 - Australian daylight saving time 2006 update for environments that do not use Exchange Server? Petr
  20. None.Windows 98 SE OS identifies itself as 4.10.2222 or 4.10.2222 A, depending on which diagnostics/detection tools are used. That's because different system files either display the A or do not, when called upon to identify the OS version/release/edition/build. More info: http://www.mdgx.com/ver.htm http://www.mdgx.com/win.htm For example, if u right-click on My Computer desktop icon and select Properties, you'll see something like this: http://www.mdgx.com/ver95.gif That means Win98 SE OS will always be 4.10.2222 [with or without the A] no matter which/how many updates/(hot)fixes/patches/SPs/replacements/etc you install. And that means you will only be allowed to install Win98 SE patches/(hot)fixes/SPs, even if u install [or not] 98SE2ME or individual ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista/etc files. That's because u can't replace the OS core files, like: krnl386.dll, krnl386.exe. Of course, you could hex those files to display whatever OS build/version, but why would you want to do that for? It would only screw everything up, the 1st time you try to install a patch/fix not intended for 98 SE [or which does not properly detect the OS build], and doing so will lock up your OS. And if you don't know how to replace system files from native MS-DOS or don't have a backup to restore from, you would have to reinstall your OS. The version information (4.10.1998/4.10.2222) used by both IExpress packages and MS Installer is stored in kernel32.dll file. It is interesting that kernel32.dll 4.10.2222 works well in Windows 98 Standard (First, Gold) edition and this enables to install Adobe Reader 6.04 on this OS. After install it can be replaced back to 4.10.1998. The version information (4.10.1998/4.10.2222) displayed by right-clicking the My Computer icon is stored in sysdm.cpl file. The sub-version information (A, B) is stored in registry in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion key in text value "SubVersionNumber". " A" (please note space betore A) is standard after clean install, it is changed to "B" (without space) by appying updates from Windows 98 SE Security Update CD (February 2004). It is known that "B" causes that some programs won't install. Petr
  21. It works for me - just 60 Hz is not very pleasant vertical frequency. I have ATI Xpert/2000 Pro video card with ATI Rage128 Pro graphics accelerator. There is written in the file accompanying the patch: Maybe really just ATI Rage128 is supported? Is there any utility that lists all available VESA modes? Petr
  22. The PCI device in my chipset is indeed 1039/7002. Checked again using a PCI identification utility. Vendor ID : 1039 , Dev ID = 7002 , Subsystem = 7002 , Sub-vendor ID : 1849. == Is there something wrong with Orangeware or this SiS controller ? Not sure I grasped what you are trying to explain - I'm really sorry ! Hard to say. The INF contains the following lines: %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_1800147B %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_1801147B %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_B01C144D %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_56421462 %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_04001558 %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_04011558 %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002%=OEHCI, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_22631558 It means that it is clearly specified what motherboards are supported, these are: 147B - ABIT Computer Corp. 144D - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd 1462 - Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. 1558 - CLEVO/KAPOK Computer 1849 - ASRock Incorporation is not listed here. I don't know what does this mean. Maybe the driver checks the subsystem ID and works just for the defined in the INF file - this would be strange behavior but possible. Have you tried the USBview utility to check if the device is connected as 1.1 or 2.0 device? I use Kingston Data Traveller for such testing, it contains LED that ligths red for 1.1 and blue for 2.0. If your 2.0 device will appear as 1.1 device it means that the Orangeware driver does not work and you could try what Eck has suggested. BTW, I have similar problem with some motherboards with newere chipsets - although Orangeware driver installs with no problem and displays the correct number of USB2 ports, it never switch the controller to 2.0 mode. But ICH6 and ICH7 southbridges have different Device ID not just subsystem, so it was not so big surprise. Petr
  23. It means that it is not supported as SiS USB EHCI controller but as generic EHCI controller. Taken from the INF file, for SiS (device ID 7002) the device name is: PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002="SiS USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller" but for generic EHCI controler PCI\CC_0C0320.DeviceDesc= "PCI Class USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller" In my first post I have asked you for the VID & DID and I mentioned that just 1039 & 7002 could probably work. No, the primary reason is that because of compatibility issues Orangeware driver does not us standard "USB" class but its own "OWCUSB" class. Petr
  24. It looks like not supported EHCI controller. Petr
  25. And what about this: http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp?Model=K7S41 ??? Here is "SiS USB 2.0 Driver Ver:1.04" for Windows 98 and ME, have you tried it? Petr
