That don't sound like bad caps unless Windows started getting majorly unstable before. Windows probably would keep on erroring long before it would shut off. The first symptom of bad caps would be that it crashes when running demanding tasks. Especially games and benchmarks. Then it gets worse until it starts crashing even when idle. not sure where did you get this from, anyway it's not even important, this sounds just like bad caps, when caps are bad, Windows will just shutdown with no prior errors or anything (have had many cases with caps, and not a single error log about any instability... http://badcaps.net is where I got this from. A sudden shutdown without an error message sounds more like a cooling problem. Most people report that the symptoms of bad caps is like an unstable OC.

Your processor isn't stable. That's a typical BSOD of the processor requiring more Vcore or at an OC wall.

Thank you. I noticed that. When I checked the file, it has a different icon. The Windows installation is fine. Just tested it with VMWare Player.

How-To: Install from HDD without FAT->NTFS or Bootdisks/CDs!

The partition probably isn't active. -
I gotten the following error messages during the slipstreaming process: Update: Never mind. It isn't even the same type of hotfix. Last_Session.ini

I disagree. DSL actually is the better way to go, IMO. Cable actually is more likely to terminate you for downloading a lot. Cable ISPs are known to have low tolerance. Also, I heard that it's typical for the downloads to be less consistent with cable, because you're directly sharing bandwidth with other users! With cable, it's possible for someone else to have a slow down because of downloading! If you're having problems with DSL, it's probably because of a sucky ISP.

You won't get anything in the event log about the cause of the shutdown if it's C.O.P.
-
At first it sounded like a motherboard voltage issue or a bad processor. If you have a bad processor, I can guarantee that Prime95 won't pass.
-
It's likely C.O.P. (computer overheat protection, Asus' anti-processor overheat protection) being triggered. The overheat shutdown value may be set to a value that's too low in the BIOS.

Ha ha, Microsoft got sued for patent infringement and lost!

W2K: inaccessible_boot_device after Mobo replace
RJARRRPCGP replied to muchlux's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
But that's just to get past that BSOD. You may have major problems with the video drivers. -

I dunno what else to tell you. -
W2K: inaccessible_boot_device after Mobo replace
RJARRRPCGP replied to muchlux's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I recommend that you reformat the HDD then reinstall Windows. Because of left overs of other chipset information. Even if you can get past that BSOD, other software components can misbehave. You may not be able to use anything 3D and/or is slow. -
Error on shutdown/restart
RJARRRPCGP replied to canadianfigor's topic in Windows XP Media Center Edition
It's probably "The application failed to initialize because the window station is shutting down" or similar. That error message pop up is a known issue and is annoying. It's more likely to occur with Windows XP than with Windows 2000. It's been known to randomly occur when logging off. -
How do I know what kind of graphics card my comp has?
RJARRRPCGP replied to Fluttergirl's topic in Windows 9x/ME
You mean 16 colors. That's 4-bit! That's what occurs when Windows don't include a driver for the video card. -
[Error]Bad image error when launching applications
RJARRRPCGP replied to Mamoun's topic in Windows XP
Appears to be a malware attack! Unfortunately, to make sure that malware is gone, required to write zeroes to the HDD, repartition, reformat the HDD then reinstall Windows! It's possible for the malware to hide in a secret partition. -
Windows 98 SE appeared to have won for the majority. My benchmark. Hardware: Motherboard: Asus A7V8X-X Chipset: Via KT400 Processor: Athlon XP T-bred 2400+ AIUHB with the FSB increased, at 166x12.0 instead of 133x15.0. RAM: 256 MB of Infineon DDR SDRAM that's rated at PC3200, but only been rated for loose timings, at 3.0-3-3-8. Thus may be just rebadged PC2700! I never tried to use 200 mhz for it at lower latencies, and to do that, my nForce2 one is required. HDD: Samsung SP0802N (80 GB and 7,200 RPM) Video card: GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with 128 MB of VRAM at stock. --------------------------------------------------------- Chipset drivers: Hyperion 4 in 1 4.53 ----------------------- Video card drivers: Detonator 43.45 ---------------------- Benchmark software: 3D Mark 2001 SE: Windows 98 SE: 10,461 Windows ME: 10,450 Super Pi 1MB: Windows 98 SE: 1 min. 9 sec. Windows ME: 1 min. 9 sec. A tie. Prime95 benchmark: (this time, not the torture test!) Windows 98 SE: 34.344 ms Windows ME: 34.298 ms Windows 98 SE lost! MetaBench: Windows 98 SE won. Windows 98 had the higher values for most of MetaBench's tests. But this was with stock Windows installations. Things may change when Windows 98 SE has 98SE2ME.

No bleepin' way am I coughing up money to them! Rapidshare.de sucks! Also, Megaupload.com sucks too, has the same stuff!
-
The motherboard appears to be undervolting majorly. You probably can increase the Vcore some more and OC some more.
-
Are AMD users screwed?
-
I disagree. Unless you're required to make crash dumps, the more RAM, the less pagefile usage is required. If you get a memory error then, it's probaly from the application itself, not Windows! In that case, you have an application that requires virtual memory. I'm already wary that Project64 (www.pj64.net) likely requires virtual memory.

Defragmenting your Hard Drive(s)
RJARRRPCGP replied to Shindo_Hikaru's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Yet you have not named it. Though it has been proven that excessive defragmenting can and will cause issues with your hard drive. I checked with Perfect Disk, the defragmentation utility that comes with Windows, O&O Defrag and Contig.
