Are the partitions FAT32? If they are, you probably have a major amount of lost clusters! You must make sure that Windows is shut down properly!
-
Also, I never had that problem with nLite 1.0rc6. Back when I tested nLite 1.0rc6, it was the best release I tested so far! Thumbs up! B)

1. A bad HDD. (probably) 2. The BIOS has the dreaded 32 GB limit. (unlikely)

Not enough Vcore can cause that error message. -

I have the same motherboard. The A7V8X-X is a reliable motherboard. I usually only get crashes if my processor was OC'ed too much, not enough Vcore or overheating. But I do see a problem, it appears that you're probably using a T-bird processor. My Asus A7V8X-X was never tested with pre-Athlon XP processors. It may not be using the right Vcore setting! I suggest that you at least get a T-bred 2400+. I also suggest that you run Prime95. If Prime95 fails, probably a problem with your processor chip! -
Tearing my hair out over memory problems!
RJARRRPCGP replied to whocrazy's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
That's incorrect. If the RAM couldn't handle the timings, it wouldn't just slow down, Windows or applications would start erroring. This isn't hard disk drives were talking about! RAM isn't mechanical. -
If it's fine with a GeForce 6600GT, that probably can't be right! Because a 6600 GT is just a faster version of the 6600, AFAIK!

I doubt that there was anything bigger than 8 GB. They would be unlikely to exceed 8 GB. -
Are you sure? It appeared to be the same when I checked the Avast web site yesterday.

Windows 98 + ME *still* alive campaign + logos

they deleted mine too i think. its giving me the exact same error again. The post is still there. It's because the permissions were set to block you from seeing that forum, AFAIK! You may have gotten banned. If that error message appears with every forum, that means you probably gotten banned! If you gotten banned, you shall have an E-mail message from that message board about a ban. -
I really dunno then. Also, I'm not taunting anybody!

Defragmenting your Hard Drive(s)
RJARRRPCGP replied to Shindo_Hikaru's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Wrong. Because even with a fresh Windows installation, it's common to have at least around 500 fragments! A fresh format. Which means it's been there what. A day? Start -> Run -> Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks Also, what software is telling you there are 500 fragments? This is after I reformatted the HDD then checked with a reliable defragmentation utility. I never had that problem. You usually only have to worry if you have power problems. -
The motherboard likely has bad caps. For more information about the bad cap issue, please go to the following web site: http://badcaps.net

Service pack for Windows 98 Standard (First, Gold)

I agree with you. You definitely are feeling the same pain as I have if you're still stuck with a 56k or lower internet connection. I'm currently stuck with 56k. -

You aren't alone. I had the same issue. nLite randomly broke the Windows installation process. I would get file copy errors, but probably not the same files as mentioned above. Also, be on the look out for the dreaded "Setup cannot copy the file: syssetupo.dll" or similar error message. I had that problem. The only solution is to start all over again, then pray that nLite didn't break the Windows installation process.

First off, I'm not 100 percent wrong. Also, this isn't FUD. Windows XP has DRM that restricts the number of hardware changes. Deactivation because I changed the hardware is DRM, because it's about Microsoft making people cough up more money like money grows on trees!

vista is very much not ME, if you would like to point out similarities then list them, as for longhorn, it is a server product, not a desktop product, and it is also very very good NAP is probably one of the coolest new features out for it Vista is like ME because it's nothing more than hype which is designed to line the pockets of m$. m$ has spent a lot of money to figure out what could attract consumer spending, their consensus: shiny bling. Vista adds more bloat than it does functionality and i'm sure it's successor will be a very fine product. I agree somewhat, because Windows Vista is a bloated spinoff of Windows XP, just like Windows ME was a spinoff of Windows 98 SE! Also, sad, but true, Windows XP is a DRM-ized spinoff of Windows 2000.

Last Patchday --> persuade M$ to extend support for Windows 9
RJARRRPCGP replied to winxpi's topic in Windows 9x/ME
That is only because Windows NT 3.5 and 4 were released earlier than Windows 98/ME and because of customer demand. But anything Windows 2000 or above has enough customer demand in comparison to Windows NT 3.5 and 4 and it is an NT based OS. Windows ME and Windows 2000 were released around the same time, yet Windows 2000 is so much better so it deserves to be supported a lot longer. I hate to tell you this, Windows NT-based operating systems are notorious for having monster-sized updates. At least, the unofficial Windows 98 service packs weren't so big! Takes ages for security updates! Are you gonna flame me for not getting broadband? I currently can't get broadband! -
Yes, that is a BSOD. That's what a BSOD looks like with Windows XP.
-
You're right. It's like the Windows ME of Windows NT-based operating systems. It's basically a dressed up Windows 2003.
-
Do you think that there's gonna be a DirectX 9 refresh for Windows 2000 in a usual separate download?
-
That's a Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME style BSOD. Windows XP and Windows 2000 BSODs don't look like that.

Disk Management probably won't let you change the letter of the boot partition! This is why you're required to unplug other HDDs or reformat with FAT and try again.
