  1. Wsxedcrfv, you need to uninstalled previous version and clean all tracks of it. To install a new one, you can use the way mentioned by loblo or that discovered by WIN98SE: After installation, you need to disable Java next-generation plugin and also renamed it directory (to force Java to use an older plugin). Btw, I'm using Java 6 update 24 now.
  2. Have you uninstalled previous version? I have installed version for alternative browsers only and I don't have any problem.
  3. Could you say a bit more about your experience with SSD? What is configuration of that Asus EEE? Btw, do you think, it is worth to buy a cheap SSD like this one (32 GB)? http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-onyx-series-sata-ii-2-5-ssd.html
  4. It works normally - I'm using Opera 11.01 (build 1190) since yesterday. Btw, you don't need to create any subdirectories - 7-zip unpacked them from installer.
  5. Dave-H, you can resolve that issue easily - it was mentioned earlier. Just unpack installer with 7-zip, then copy all files to Opera directory. You need also to set compatibility as for Windows 2000 SP4.
  6. Strange because it works on my PC (KernelEx 4.5 Final). I've set compatibility mode for setup file and then browser as for Windows 2000 SP4. Honestly, I must say, that I'm not impressed - isn't fast IMHO (I would say rather slow) but I've tested it shortly. Firefox 3.5.16 is blazingly fast if you compare it with Beta 8. Btw, one more thing: I've used my old Firefox profile (haven't tested on a new one).
  7. Yes, you should keep this option as default. Only if you have a problem with some program, you can disable KernelEx or set specific compatiblity mode.
  8. For curiosity I've copied kernel32.dll from Win98SE CD to Windows\Sysbckup directory and looks like that finally I'm successfull.
  9. In my case installation was stopped (cancelled). When I've uploaded kernel32.dll to Sysbckup directory, I've got message: "Error: subsystem_check: pattern not found".
  10. Sorry but I must report problem with installation of new KEx: when I've tried to do that, I've got message: "Error: Failed to open backup file C:\Windows\Sysbckup\Kernel32.dll. Possible causes: previous version not uninstalled correctly or file has been deleted. Restore C:\Windows\System\Kernel32.dll manually from install media". It doesn't matter if I have previous version of KEx installed or not.
  11. Xeno, Tihiy, congratulations for a new (stable) version and nice gift for us before end of year! Btw, versions of Flash Player and Foxit Reader mentioned in KernelEx Wiki compatibility database are older than those which I'm using: Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and Foxit Reader 4.3.0 (build 1110).
  12. Erpude8, Opera 11 indeed can't be install by setup file but you can install it manually or via Autoupdate (from previous version). Look at this post and below.
  13. Thank you for reply - I think, I would prefer the first variant. Btw, one more thing: the size of primary partition could be over 127 GB or should be beyond (to avoid potential problems)?
  14. Because there's occassion, I want to ask: what is safe (recommended) size of primary partition and extended partition for e.g. 1 TB drive (I'm thinking about such HDD)?
  15. I've got exactly the same message - simply, I've unpacked installer with 7zip, and then I've put all files to the Opera directory.
  16. I can confirm correct installation of Java 6 update 23 (in silent mode). It works too - I've tested it on usual Internet pages. Looks like, that in my previous attempt, I haven't cleaned all tracks of the older version.
  17. Judging by those screenshots, I've got exactly the same problem but before installation of Java. Maybe in your case installation was successfull because you have Windows ME + RP 9.7.0.
  18. Have you installed successfully update 23? I can't because of some stack error in kernel32.dll, and the way which you've mentioned, doesn't help (KernelEx 4.5 RC 5).
  19. I'm using Firefox 3.5.15 since it was released and I don't have a single problem with it. Are you using the same profile, which you have used with Firefox 3.6 (that could be reason of your issues)?
  20. Sorry but that was mentioned many times - Firefox 3.6 and Java 6 do not work because Java next-generation plugin which is necessary for browser, doesn't work under Win98/ME. If you want to use Java 6 update 22, you must stick with Firefox 3.5 family.
  21. I've seen that message too. Because I'm owner of a legal copy of it, of course I'm not pleased with that fact. But I've made a small test: I've installed beta version of WinRar 4.0 and I don't have any problem at this moment - as I presume just because of presence of KernelEx.
  22. CCleaner 2.36 is indeed the last version, which you can use probably even without KernelEx. I've tried the newest version (3.0) - installation was successful but it doesn't run.
  23. No, it's special CPU instruction set, introduced by Intel at the end of the 90's in Pentium III family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_SIMD_Extensions
  24. Yes, Firefox have exactly the same problem but with small trick (rename of plugin directory) you can use older, classical plugin (3.5xx family).
  25. That's true but look when I've asked that question - that was well before KernelEX 4.5 family. Btw, I've installed a slim version of Shockwave (KernelEx was set for default mode).
