  1. you must be bored if you like to create registry entries and edit every single bit. it's not worth the hassle as any virus scanner will do the dirty job for me.
  2. you just can't imagine how many dumbs out there get to try to convince others that XP is not safe to use, and if you tell them that you use XP for everything without a real-time AV they are likelty to get a brain stroke LOL
  3. neither do I. I wish XP lasts me up until W12 LTSC comes out or whatever bloated-less edition with XP visual style icons
  4. some malware scanners allow you to switch them off or disable their services one way or the other while not being in use however AVAST services cannot be removed even though you disable WFP (windows file protection)
  5. do you work for AVAST ? if you don't you are just parroting BS that you read online. can you tell us why do Avast AV services work 24/7 nonstop and cannot be suspended on the services manager ? what kind of data is being sent to Avast servers when the AV is locked up and unused ?
  6. https://www.howtogeek.com/173291/goodbye-microsoft-security-essentials-microsoft-now-recommends-you-use-a-third-party-antivirus/
  7. what's the suitable SSD alignment sector size for XP. 1024K or 4096K ?
  8. wait what ? I can't believe there are some AI bots among us... I have noticed this on other forums too.
  9. I had read some nvidia forums about people asking drivers for Pascal based graphic cards are you sure that the 1xxx-series features are actually fully supported with the older drivers ?
  10. this is what Google and others do every single day. nothing is for free. Avast background services can't be disabled by any means.
  11. you can't compare a software utility from a large company tied to the KREMLIN to amateur projects that work perfectlly well on XP I don't think every russian made tool out there is utilized as an ''exploit'' https://github.com/dragokas/hijackthis
  12. I have only used Dr. Web a handful of times in my life at first glance I thought it could serve me to look up some undetected trojans by other scanners last time I used it my computer got infected, I downloaded it again to make sure it was a clean executable file but I think Virus Total reported back some suspicious bits. I can't tell for sure whether the russians injected malicious code into their last scanner releases since the start of the war it's an offline scanner that you have to download everytime a new release is out otherwise it won't run this security tool is also developed in RUSSIA https://greatis.com/security/ @Cixert
  13. I have received a notification but as mentioned this morning I don't read posts with multiple quotations....if you want to call me out make up a clear and readable post.
  14. it's made in china just like the last working and stable web browsers for XP. google, intel, nvidia, M$... and many others who don't support XP anymore are not chinese companies AFAIK
  15. I hate this kind of expansive links as they look like intrusive advertising in the middle of text. I also dislike other members who reply to and quote different users in the same post which make it totally difficult to grasp and boring so I have no other choice but skip and scroll down. self-quotation is not a bad thing so long as you stay on topic and I don't mind if self-quoting or gaining a little more reputation in a dying out community makes him sleep any better
  16. first off I do not click on cumbersome windows (admin fault) that take me to elsewhere so I mostly tap on real links. second, I don't care much about an overview that sings xxxxx AV praises.... last, I prefer to review the AV myself with real trojans or virus hidden inside a folder and Malwarebytes didn't do well in my case for quick random scans HitmanPro, for full and efficient scans Avast... Glary Utilities is somewhat useful when one has to hunt down some unexpected processes that launch on startup
  17. Malwarebytes doesn't seem to be a virus scanner and it's terribly slow in comparison to AVAST. last time I performed a full scan over XP partition it took it 6 hours to end up finding nothing
  18. why is this one above recommending others old crap that he won't be testing himself ? last time I shared something on the other thread it was an india based AV but I had checkied it out myself before posting so I know first hand how it works out. -Can delete important system files -Can be hard to uninstall -Slow in working -May disrupt your restore points
  19. if you want to share a link here, take a minute to remove unwanted junk from the url such as your own translation
  20. I can't tell whether this is fake or how the device manager recognizes the GTX 1060... maybe they modded the INF and it's actually 900-series graphic card in the background @Dietmar https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B9OWVlLdZ6k/XbVDYg_CShI/AAAAAAAACKg/tR58uXkqzUoCp68BgjDSCMpLlCNTvPYTACNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/J01zTS5.png
