dunno but it does seems like its a dodgy driver from what i read. made any changes recently or has it always done it?

hi you mention that its an old computer, maybe the cd drive your friend has in the pc is a very slow one and that could well be the problem as i had issue last year when trying to boot from a slow cdrom drive on a laptop

well i still use nero 6 as when i tried nero 7 out it was too demanding and it came with loads of unneeded rubbish

yep i agree with the other guys, i would say its a temperature issue as games can hammer cpu quite a bit so it would make temperature go up
