hi there...out of curiosity what antivirus you using and have checked for spyware crap too? and most of all i do not recommend upgrading from win 98 or any other OS as xp runs best from a fresh clean install and not from an upgrade.. could also be that your MBR is corrupted...cheers

yes it could be a resolution issue with the monitors not being able to keep up or most likely a driver issue with your graphics card..like other guy said try it in safe mode and then see whats occurring.

not used older OS for a few years but as recall its either winipconfig or winipcfg in the RUN box..hope this helps ya

strange issues and i cant see anything obvious in your last session that could be causing the problem as yet. your source cd in good condition and not scratched/scuffed? also try burning the image at slow speed as that could cause it. another idea is that the services that need to be running and are not running and are required for a network connection etc will also cause this issue so i would definately ensure the required services are running.

excellent question and topic as i too is interested as i have just setup a couple of accounts for my 2 kids on my main pc for their online homework and im able to see within their accounts my main backup hard drive and i want it so its not viewable or accessable so they cannot delete or cause issues on my OS (xp pro). any of you guys that could be helpful is much appreciated asi certainly dont want to have to go buy extra software to do the job if xp is already capable of doing it already. i just want them to be able to be online but not to be able to install anything from the internet if thats at all impossible? thanks lads...gaz

kaspersky security suite here...was using nod32 on vista however nod32 didnt see a few trojans and viruses and after installing latest kaspersky on installing it, it detected several things that nod32 missed..was gutted actually as i swore by and trusted nod32 bigtime..so its kaspersky from now on everytime...cheers..gaz

hiya..i was using vista firewall as a simple test and running nod32.. however as i learnt that kaspersky was now vista compatible i purchased the kaspersky security suite which is a all in one software with firewall and on 1st scan after uninstalling nod32 and clening registry and then installing kaspersky suite it detected the shady trojan...i was surprised that nod32 never even noticed it as its never let me down in the past...anyway thanks agin for the help much appreciated

ok tarun thanks bud..that worked a treat..did a rescan afterwar5ds and she is clean again..dunno how it even got there as only installed vista last week and only been browsing net and forums..thanks again

i cant even see the file at all.. when show hidden files i can see the system volume information folder but when try open it i get access denied message and properties of the folder says its empty..

hi guys... kaspersky is reporting this to be found and it says it cant quarantine or delete it...i tried finding it manually and cant find it either. this is the info Trojan program Backdoor.Win32.SdBot.xd File: E:\System Volume Information\_restore{1E04FF35-65DF-4E27-B472-32EB85CFCF8A}\RP8\A0002456.exe//ce2.exe//reptile.exe funnily enough i been running latest nod32 for awhile and nod 32 didnt detect it at all... any help be great as its got me proper paranoid now .lol

if really just want sp1 then use your xp gold cd and then use sp1 with it.. you would get nothing but problems if try removing sp2 for sure,especially if try overwrite sp2 with sp1. hope this answers ya question....twista

hi guys/gals and thanks for the replies..still looking into the info that was provided in previous posts.....i basically just want to update just a couple of photos and the guestbook as 2 of my sisters left comments and mistakes in birthdays on each anniversary (yep i spelt it wrong but hope ya know what i mean).. so its just basic things i need to do just like updating mistakes in guestbook and refresh/post a couple of more images onto it..not too bothered about the layout as i know that would be even more so beyond me.. its a netfirms.com account if it makes any difference.. i just need a simple solution so i can update it and not just 4 myself but 4 my family and my late best mate..or maybe someone trustable could even update it for me at a cost? just dont know what the options are...thanks guys/gals gaz not sure at present if i can post th website address without me getting my a** kicked out of here so i will double check or aske beforehand although i would not be spamming i just like to check 1st.

hi guys sorry to be a pain but im needing advice on what software i require to update website.. a good friend of mine who married my kid sister sadly died a few years ago and a good buddy i chatted alot to online at the time created a simple website for me and with a guestbook etc...however my sister has now asked me if i can update it for her but i have no idea how to do it or what software to use (the easiest the better as its new to me) costs is no issue as i know it has to be done due to tyler(their son- my nephew) is older and wiser now and does visit the website so i would like to update it for him too...anyway back to the topic, anyone suggest/recommend any software preferably an all in one suite that could let me update /edit the site and add/delete photos and guestbook etc? i hope this make sense to you guys as i really need to do it for them and me as well as robs family... i cant ask guy who created the site as not seen online for a couple of years thank you, gaz..i have all login info to the website control panel
