  2. hi, at present i dont have access to my main tower as its in for repair so i tried installing it on a laptop which only has 384mb ram.

  13. considering that CRT monitors cost next to nothing these days it would be cheap to replace anyway. may be a shot in the dark but its possible that the driver is corrupt. have you tried uninstalling the monitor and then letting windows reinstall?

  21. yep the screeching noise and the "operating system not found" gives it away, definately a faulty hard drive. run tests on it and if broken simply replace it.

  23. yea i agree, known as pressure marks and is also common with laptops that have keyboard keys sticking up and when lid is down they can cause the pressure marks too. as punto stated though it seems that someone put too much pressure on screen.
