  1. I like this one for Vista 64 bit https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=aee86fe4-9f33-4a2a-9473-ad3023be5b64 https://catalog.s.download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/driver/drvs/2015/11/20799715_01d1c877d16421ad866c253ee3bd38093997086f.cab 32 bit https://catalog.s.download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/driver/drvs/2015/11/20799692_88df3fccea50028d91bfe70a08242ee526261e5a.cab
  2. Results : 391.35 works fine, but I didn't like the way it represents the colours and its contrast is way too high. Otherwise - fine ! 399.24 is one hell of a glitchy piece of crap. Interferes with my good ol' sound card. It booted up fine (without the NVCPL, of course) . Played a DX11 game for 1 hour fine. Then started to watch Octopussy 1983 using MPC-HC and look at the crash errors. (TDR had happened) Happens at random intervals. Also 399 doesn't like Chrome.
  3. This solution should help the owners of high-res monitors. http://wp.xin.at/archives/5616
  4. I'll miss you too, sorry - for now - not going there or anywhere else.
  5. Nah, the 10's UI was the best one, and it was waaay faster on myu notebook ! But hey, you yongsters don't remember, lol.
  6. 1 - You're welcome, the acid blue UI is absolutely ugly, I agree ! Try to use the dark theme from another release . 2 - This is normal for chrome.
  7. Already happened in November of 2022, Google had pulled the plug. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184046-future-of-chrome-on-windows-7
  8. Thanks for the good tests ! So looks like the memory "bug" is XP related. Well, from what I remember, it may be due to the fact of your GPU being gen-7 and/or a poor combination with the old drivers, I was able to get the GPU process to boot through the commandline switch --enable-gpu , without it you won't get any Hardware video decode at all ! But then again, my GPU is from the 9th gen. and I use the newer drivers I modded myself. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184056-breakthrough-p2-new-pascal-special-microsoft-nvidia-driver-port-for-vista-x64/page/ There is also my P1 tutorial (more complex) on how to cook new Nvidia drivers for Vista without the extended kernel. Also, VP9 , HEVC, VP8, H265 are still not accelerated because you would need at least GTX1080 or smth like that.
  9. Added new missing API, for example PrefetchVirtualMemory, which is obviously missing in Windows 7. Why is it needed !? Hi to those who runs windows without their page file.
  10. I was just curious because he didn't say was it x64 or x86 Vista. (The behaviour might differ!) I ask any type of on-topic questions I want, and you don't have to comment on everything, lol. I obviously don't have to explain anything to you, I do this only because I consider myself to be polite and of good manners.
  11. This is an Older NT-Family OSes discussion. As such, there will always be a LAG with "cutting edge". Basically, "we don't care" about the LAG being YEARS. We have our JUSTIFIABLE reasons for using Older NT-Family OSes. I'd still be using Opera 10, if it worked ! And I did - 'till the end. BTW, I don't know how modern Chrome looks on XP, but it still looks the same on Vista (with aero), and it all that matters. So why not use it ? I don't want to get into arguments, but obviously we use a different set of websites. You of all know, I loved this browser when it made sense for me.
  12. Chrome 111 arrived as Beta, and it doesn't work on windows 7, surprise ...not. Officially doesn't work on windows 8.1.
  13. What about RAM ? Also amost 1GB with an emply page too ? PS. You need this update for DX11 (Windows6.0-KB971512) on Vista for all these to work, it's achievable. I just turn it off intentionally. I only use hardware Skia. Also, you would need to force gpu usage via flags, but the ones you already used is a good start. Check if your chrome runs an additional GPU process.
  14. 92 ?! What good would it be ? It's outdated by ages now, and isn't even finished ! I also have my doubts , will it ever be ? I read about 102, but it's also more than 7-8 months old. Don't forget, the current us Chrome 111. https://www.reddit.com/r/windowsxp/comments/vgwnaw/chrome_102_now_works_on_windows_xp/
  15. You now have your own yt channel !?
  16. Good night , don't let the bugs bite !
  17. Again, when you writesomething, please elaborate. Meaning : write down the KB number, provide with links, etc. Articles are also very useful, even if old. And swearing is not necessary, especially in win32's section.
  18. Looks like a joke or an error . When I bought one of my Vista PCs in 2009 it came with DDR3 already. At it was not an ultra gaming PC. Absolutely not. Do you and the others started to think what's next ? Maybe start do dig another newer browser for XP ?
  19. Is this considered to be normal for chinese made browsers produced in 2020 to consume almost 1gig of RAM with 1 empty page ? Either of you ever wondered what's inside ? Maybe debug ? I mean , @AstroSkipper is right - this is not normal, and I think he was the first who noticed.
  20. You of all folks should know I don't use any of these. It was only the partially working dark theme I was answering about.
  21. I'm not that kind of goof. My gaming PC is never connected to the internet. For the internet I use an ancient Fujitsu Siemens from 2009 . Sold with Vista Business x64. Everything is ancient in it , chipset, old Xeon Quad, RAM DDR3 32GB (currently installed 16). Simply no need for 32, besides dust gathering. So no, that browser I ran on a 13.5 years old piece of crap.
  22. Randomized ?! Well, looks like it has something to do with anti hacker protection. I remember this "Logon black screen of death" got way worse with SP1 , where they introduced a tougher anti-crack protection. That being said, I had (and have) a legit Vista sold with my PC, but it didn't have service packs at all, and when I tried to install SP1 in 2008 , I also had the crappy error with my new Core Quad, so I decided to stay on Vista without SP and the error went away. With SP1 it also had the same black screen , but only hard black screen without *some* of the services failed to start. The message was the same "logon bla bla bla". If I install x64 Vista ZERO SP on a haswell, it's still more stable, apart from the limited VRAM problem with my 12GB card, of course. It only allows 4 or so.
