  1. Hi all and merry X-mass, I got bored and with the help of @Dixel and some amount of inspiration I sometimes get from @win32, I butchered the latest Opera 96 (110) to make it run on our beloved Vista ! This chinese browser Opera is based on the newest Chrome 110, which is officially supported only on Win 10 +. Also, I forced it to use its native hardware Skia engine 110. (which is now blocked on win 7 by default). For those who still drive their Sd.Kfz.8, Opera 95 and Chrome 109 are the last for win 7, so as of now, win 7 and the extended kernel for Vista are not able to run the 110 Chrome version. Please don't ask me about running it on WIn 7, I don't know (or won't tell) anything. In theory, it's possible for win 7 to run it. But only if you edit the browser code. (which is forbidden). Only Vista related questions. Thanks. Opera EULA says we can't edit their code, so I shall share my hacks/findings with @win32 and maybe he will be able to implement this in his next kernel release, so all of you could run it without the editing hacks.
  2. Don't get me wrong, isn't it a bit creepy ? That being said, I obviously don't know about the American style of life and/or habits, so excuse me once again, maybe it's a good idea, not sure.
  3. My trust in you was not in vain !
  4. Oh, and one more question, there's a lot of noise regarding Intel inf (chipset) "drivers", could they actually help, if installed ? I know they are just inf files (not the actual drivers), of course, but still... I run without them. Oh, and I don't know if you saw, I finally found the reason for BSOD 124 in my other system, it was that "famous" home made USB drivers I downloaded here, made by a guy from Brazil (who also ignored my question, when I asked him what updates exactly he used to "cure" the haswell bug, and the topic got locked immediately, lol).
  5. Oh, it's fine , you just didn't know that, I understand, totally fine.
  6. There is a reason it's not, 'cause it's just plain KGB spyware. It would be suicidal to use it and very dangerous to suggest it to the others.
  7. I was under the impression this topic was more like *not supported officially list*. I might be wrong, of course. Thank you very much ! I'll try. Looks interesting. Is this hack only for the 67 ? I mean, 67 makes no sense, it's already in the 70s range for a long time.
  8. Well, again, this is very unfortunate, indeed. I still think he is a good person, and I wonder what if I force myself to agree with his definition, will he be back then ? Will he forgive me ? And then again, it's so hard to imagine a mobo from 2000 to be the "right XP era hardware" . I mean , XP released to sales only at the end of 2001. So no XP existed ! What do you think I should do ? thanks. P.S. Hope you will get out of your depression as soon as possible !
  9. This is very unfortunate, indeed. I got a good offer on that Titan, but someone here wrote he had troubles with the new edition of GTX1060 (BIOS and the chip v.2 from 2018), I don't know if you saw that topic. And this Titan I was offered also from the newer (re-issued) batch. So no 100% guarantees. How big is the chance the 411 will work ? Thanks.
  10. I think these 8 years old series may still be supported because we now have more folks that can't allow themselves to buy a newer gen ? I am also on the old Titan from these series, manufacture date March of 2015. EDIT, though I still use very old drivers.
  11. They will be for some time, I think they will finally cut them off in 2023. (a speculation, no official info).
  12. You're welcome, I think it's the latest MS certified one. Look at the date - October 2022.
  13. Thank you, nah, no shoulder (thank god) , it was a sharp object, I think it's better to describe it as I jumped on a pile of sharp crap, when trying to avoid the blast near me. It was an old factory we were protecting. But no shrapnel touched me, so I'm lucky I guess. I'm in mental pain because of Astriskipper, not the wounds, they are healed. I wish you will recover too and very soon !
  14. I'm very sorry for you ! Does he know about this ?
  15. MKVToolNix no longer supports Windows 7 or 8 for over a year (not sure about the exact date). The last working version - 66 (tried myself) , starting 67 doesn't work. Read rumours someone made unofficial hacks. Fully disassembled them and then used QT5, not sure how good it would be, kinda defeats the purpose of newer versions being made in the first place.
  16. Audacity no longer supports Windows 7 or 8 for over a year (not sure about the exact date).

  18. I vote for the 398.11. I tried it on another mobo today and no problems found. Would be great to have its original NVCPL working, of course. Also, I can now confirm it works with GT1030. Someone from your friends tried GTX Titan XP with 398.11 ? I only have the X variant, not XP. Thanks.
  19. Thanks for asking ! I'm in pain, actually. Looks like Astroskipper doesn't like me anymore, I think because I partially disagreed with him about the right XP era hardware. And, how are you doing, X?
  20. You're absolutely right, of course ! And like you noticed before, I was trying to avoid answering about the ESU updates, but at the same time wanted to help him 'cause he asked . From what I know, yes, there is only one ESU update that allows to install the kernel right onto a clean SP2 (even without any prerequisites) , yet I think I'll note write its number here.
  21. If you intend to use Firefox, install Windows6.0-KB2117917-x64, also. update for DX 11 Gaming - Windows6.0-KB971512-x64. And you're all set !
  22. LOL, this is a very unpopular opinion here. This time I absolutely agree with you !
