funny that it offers left and middle only and they all are forced to centre until activation of Windows. I guess OS begging, nagging and showing watermark did not make peoples activate Windows so now they force taskbar to wrong place by default to force peoples pick buying licence or losing productivity

i had link to it too on my post. Underlined text means link but most wont notice them so good you posted those. I confirm that is one I use and runs no issue under w2k

Since nobody seems have mentioned Boingo wireless is one I use. That works with my Intel 2200bg wifi card on my Pentium M notebook running vanilla Windows 2000 professional SP4. It worked with every win2000 compatible card that can do wpa2 and has no issue connect any network on my experience. I have also used that utility with same WIFI card as you do many years ago so as long you got latest win2000 driver wpa2 will work just fine

Atleast caps did not cause fire like on one dell. Electrolyte ignited at bootup ruining board. That is not too bad price. I got ok soldering skills but would not touch mainboard that I do not want to lose either. And I usually let one of my relative do it since he is way more skilled than me and is happy do it free as long as I got caps for him. Lucky it lacks since some systems had it since 2006 (amt). I could say same from my Pentium 4 system (asus p4p800, 2.80ghz Pentium 4 socket 478, Gainward 6800gt) . Pretty powerful and all it needs it more RAM. Now got 1gb and consider getting 4gb to it whenever find decent deal nearby. It has been sitting on closet for too much because had no space for it earlier before moved to new place. Now can put it back in order. Gpu needed fan replacement since worn bearings. Swapped 60mm noctuas to it. It does ok for factory OC gpu (80c max) since 6800 run hot. I got plan to hook into my DiamondView CRT and buy few large hard drives and also install DVR card to it too for watching SD quality TV programs and reading teletext. Just bit worried from burnin risk caused by TV channel logo on top. Otherwise it is solid and powerful machine with right software and funny enough I will likely use it more and invest more money to it than main system but well my money I do what I please with it

My Browser Builds (Part 3)
Nokiamies replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
mean that and audacity. They were bought out and new company added telemetry to it. First version of their privacy policy before was polished after storm from users caused me lose trust on them . Adding Mypal vs Palemoon just made it worse year. Also could add Signal mobilecoin intergration and failing publish server source code to list of bad thing happening open source. -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)

that is very good question. I do not like idea of needing extension to every search engine since one can add other nastiness to browser. Also makes it harder to add custom search engines -
KDE + KWin compositor performance on NVIDIA GPU
Nokiamies replied to UCyborg's topic in Other Operating Systems
I had similar issue on my test system with debian 11 and KDE, but also had mouse glitching out on compositor enabled (black box where mouse was sometimes). On me problem ended after switching off from proprietary NVIDIA driver to free one, but then lost most of 3d features and had lower performance on anything using hardware accerlation. Gpu I used was 1050 2gb. It is not distro specific issue rather driver. Does free driver make different? Manjaro has device manager that allows toggle between free and non free driver, so reverting is easy -

I got NM28 on 478 socket 2.80ghz Pentium 4 and have no issues with it unless go to soyware sites without blocking JS. Well dunno if it is different on Pentium 3 but for me Pentium 3 is win95-2000 and Pentium 4 to 98 or XP because had no XP until I got new hw long ago -
So... This will kill chrome compatibility with 7 and 8?
Nokiamies replied to Jaguarek62's topic in Web Browsers
well good thing is there is no fast cryptomining exploit baked into browsers on Windows 7 and 8 or even worse ways compromise system. What next? WebHDD that allows transfer files directly to hdd or wipe it like activeX could. Webbrowser insanity started since 1997 had not stopped. Web browsers are not meant to this Well to answer original question google said in begin of 2020 that they will support atleast for one year on windows 7 so it is possible to kill it. Wonder if someday I wont be able access webpages since Chromium only technology, sites needing webgpu and webassembly enabled and others since refuse use them -
That is pretty much right on stock android. On android 10 atleast if allows it only trough android own framework that is limited to certain folders only and recovery needs root access. Only way do it is from sdcard good, then there is hope. Like UCyborg said you may need root it and do this. Sadly rooting usually wipes the device memory

My Browser Builds (Part 3)

those wont work to download. But like @Skorpios mentioned earlier it "offical" site (https://www.mypal-browser.org/release/) is all but sourcecode luckily, but wonder how long until tobin and other ddos or contact vps to shut it down so backup while can. I downloaded copy with WGET to my system. Likely wont host mirror of them online to avoid DDOS/Being hacked or ending to other trobles but got backup of ALL files to personal use. Tobin need come take my cd disks to get rid of them. Never though would need see this much effort to preserve FOSS project. This year been horrible to open source community and showed it bad side -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)

would be nice to see "secure" sites like bank and cc sites to do same as proper darkweb sites. Blocking access if js is enabled telling you disable it and requiring no js to work. That would increase security of them a lot and courage others drop js too. Js is not as bad as Webassembly or activex but it is still security risk and has no place on any secure site. And claim js blocks bots is false. New bots can read js only sites too. -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)
Nokiamies replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I second this. Noscript for clickjacking and XSS protection and Umatrix (nmatrix on me) for rest. Umatrix is also good way learn how web works. My bank needs only main site and subsite js to be enabled. Rest like google stuff is useless. And I wonder why in world does bank use third party provider scripts that can cause major security issue if vendor gets compromised. If js is not blocked malicious script can steal password or even do transactions in theory -

Well child part on their name defines developers mental age very well. That is very low -
latest Windows 10 update broke unattended installs on MDT (Microsoft deployment toolkit that uses ADK). I was scratching my head for good while why all installs errored out until I did found out it was change in unattended setup and had to redo unattended configuration so I wonder if same answer file works to Windows 11 or need custom one

I try get all games can from humble bundle drm free copies and gog.com. I mostly play portal 2 on steam that uses steam for multiplayer

well peoples think "what you gonna do about it" and pay more to them instead of actually doing something like boycott companies until they change their way. Last Windows I paid was Windows 7 that I needed to have full paid retail version to my use or would not pass auditing. I currently got personal ban on Windows 8, 10 and 11 on my network and only use them work. If Microsoft changes their way of doing operating system I will be more than happy lift the ban but I doubt it . And before someone says Windows before it had issues too I am aware of them but at end they were solid and reliable products (Windows 3.x and 98FE as expections ) that made powerusing much easier. I am using linux if need new os which sadly seems to be going same path. System D as good example . Luckily Systemd free distros exist. Also cannot go linux full time on personal system since Windows games wont work, mix of package managers is hell etc so. no perfect soluction

Without root it will be hard or impossible since way storage works on android or phone overall. You cannot do data recovery over MTP. Is phone encrypted? phone should totally off until you find way or app may write to block with old data even if just running background

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/unsupported-win11-pcs-wont-update wonder how long it will work if that is true. Ms will block updates on Windows 11 if unsupported cpu. You may need use wsusoffline or similar to continue getting updates in future. Or maybe someone makes patch similar to wufuc (allows bypass ryzen block on win7 update) to Windows 11 well back in 90s Microsoft made many company networks running Microsoft Chigaco (Windows 95 beta) before it was stable so it is possible that some companies move to it partially. I already heard plans from getting win11 on my workplace and how it will affect on getting new hardware.
-
That is only partially true. Some latest versions (that are bloated anyways) wont work, but some recieve definition updates still and there is few that workss First is spybot S&D 1.62 that works down Windows 98 and gets def updates still. That may be able to remove it. For tradiotional viruses there is Clamwin antivirus that uses clamav engine, is free and open source and up to date. Hopefully those two will fix your issue

My Browser Builds (Part 3)
Nokiamies replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
well remember what Moonchild(ish) devs did to Openbsd build of palemoon? Attacked against it for licence violation only because it was "deviating from official configuration". Ironically Palemoon originally supposed to fix issues Firefox had (addon blocking, removal of useful features) but it is slowly becoming same as firefox . What next? Maybe load tons of telemetry and useless bloat like Mozilla? I hope forks of it wont die off but future seems dark for now -
I got Windows 98SE with 98lite micro shell (95 explorer and no ie) on Vmware workstation with 4gb of ram for testing software before deploying it to my real Windows 98 system. Just avoid excess use of vmware tools drag and drop. It tends to crash with drag and drop on any win9x based os if 4gb ram. Also firefox/retrozilla may give random memory error which is solved with rebooting Windows luckily. Some of software just do not like it sometimes which is not big issue

I just have to slap barrel charger in without looking way it is which I like. Also made it easy make my own charger dock to few phones I have three batteries. One is BMS-2 which is to my Nokia 6110 and also works on my 5110. It works from phones released in 1997 to phones released in 1999 for most parts. Then I got blc-2, that works on my 3330 and 3510i and also works on almost all phones until 2003 or so. Then got BL-5C that works all other phones expect 9300 communicator and E-Series. For charger acp-7e works to every phone mentioned there and acp-12e works all but 6110 and 5110. This gives me freedom to change phone whenever pleased. Also older phones stored sms and contacts to sim by default so all need to do is pop battery to other phone with sim and good to go. I now moved from 6110 to 3330 for fun and may go to 3510i or other and then back to 6110 just because I can. Wonder if carrier is thinking why my phone imei keep changing every so often I would say standardise battery physical size and others also forbid non removable batteries because they make repairs harder and causes more e waste. I have been extending many device life by getting spare battery to them. I am not comfortable melting any glue to do it to be honest since risks related to it. Also in case something goes wrong, unplugging battery will kill power and minimise damage. Example being water damage that saved my phone few times when got wet from inside. And of chargers making real charging soluction. For while usb seemed like it but seems that new chargers wont co-operate. I got galaxy a40 on workplace and had battery running out of it and borrowed workmate oneplus charger with usb-c header. Guess what, it did not want to charge phone at all. I am not against quick charge but there should be compability mode that supplies standard voltage to device if handshake fails. Standards are good but they seems to be fading away again.

i was able find spare case to nokia 6600 I have laying around when used enough time online That looks similar to 1110 I have in box expect slimmer. Likely same hardware with slimmer design and few bugfixes. Does it last few weeks on single charge?

yes I remember. It is ironic for that
