No more login with display name?
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Hackerman's topic in Site & Forum Issues
I need *PROOF*, please. This just sounds way too far-fetched to be real. Fingerprinting is not as EXACT as that. Or banking sites would be doing it! -

There is two ways to look at that. 1) You're famous. 2) You're infamous. -
This is cool !!! Looks like Supermium now has an editable file where you can set UA &/or UACH - <copy-paste> This file (when extracted) should be placed in the user data root folder (typically %LOCALAPPDATA%\Supermium\User Data): uao.zip </copy-paste>

The OP seems to have "recalled" his bug report, citing it was a "problem on their side". <copy-paste> The issue actually has somehow been solved, seemingly confirming my theory it was a problem on their side. There is now another error though which I have also gotten on other Chromium browsers when I was problem solving. This one does seem like a browser problem to me (although since it happens on other Chromium browsers it's likely a Chromium problem) and not an Amazon problem, I will create a new bug report. I should also add though that changing the name of chrome.exe.sig does in fact show the error on Chrome, so it must be that. I wonder if they just disabled that check for Chromium browsers. </copy-paste>

No more login with display name?
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Hackerman's topic in Site & Forum Issues
He's talking about this (below pic) INPUT BOX. Mine will look different than yours because I heavily customize via a userstyle sheet here at MSFN. But "however" you log in, there will be TWO input boxes - one for EMAIL ADDRESS and the other for PASSWORD. It didn't used to be EMAIL ADDRESS for the first of two input boxes, IT USED TO BE USERNAME - and there was no "forum announcement" for this change, it just "happened one day". -

NotHereToPlayGames replied to Hackerman's topic in Site & Forum Issues
There was no announcement, per se. It just kind of happened and we all kind of had do find out for ourselves. There was a one-liner in a miscellanoue topic, forget which one, that our "spam issue has been fixed" and that's basically when login changed from display name to email address. I've seen spam since this "fix", but not nearly as many as we were being hit with. -
I'm lost! What the heck are we talking about?

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Agreed, that "works". But that is not for me. I want my cache completely cleared for "normal" exits. It is my view that starting from windows and tabs from last time is a form of tab hoarding that I highly discourage. But "to each their own", of course. Which I guess is just a long way of saying, "personal preference", lol. -
Fair enough. But that was also not yet posted at the time of my entry. That arrived on 8/21 where my entry was on 8/18. Until the 8/21 post, everything/everybody/original-OP was all citing XP. I did not try 7 and to the best of my knowledge, you-and-yours only run Vista ExKern (which I have to assume is as close to 7 as one can get without actually being on 7).

That reddit is from THREE YEARS AGO and your issue in Cent started "out of the blue" just this past Wednesday.

Regardless, I cannot replicate in any of the following: 360Chrome 13.5.1030 (v86) Ungoogled Chromium v122 Ungoogled Chromium v118 (same as Cent, if I understand correctly) Serpent 52 (2023-07-31) Mypal 27.9.4 (2018-07-19) Is anyone else in the US or GB/UK getting an "outdated browser" message at Patreon ??? I'm not going through a VPN but I also don't get any "outdated browser" at work (I think the lab benches go through a VPN, but I'm not positive).

Yeah, a "little embarassing", lol. But thanks to all for verifying on your end that everything was working. -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Okay, I can confirm that a brand new unpack, create clean profile, and test has Restore Session *working* in 2024-08-15. I'll wait for this weekend's release before adding in my about:config changes, theme, and extensions, one variable at a time, to see if one of those variables is/was the culprit. I "thought" I did this OVER A YEAR AGO when this feature stopped working, but I simply "settled" with keeping the OLDER version (now over a year old). But no, I cannot be 100% sure of that, it was over a year ago, lol. -

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Oh, the theme that I use for my Serpent 52 is called Photonic 4.3.1. The only extensions that I use are called Autofill Forms 1.1.0.1, Status-4-Evar Revived 2019.10.11.3, Stylish 2.1.1 (with a userstyle affecting XUL GUI items), and Tabs on Bottom 0.7.3. I have Lull The Tabs 1.4.3 but it never seems to make a bit of difference on the MEMORY LEAKS of Serpent 52 so I keep it disabled and PREFER to resolve memory "pile-up" with a TASK KILL then restart to the RESTORE SESSION screen. Thus my current dilemma and having to stay on a one-year-old version until resolved (which all signs suggest profile at the moment). -

NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
My one-year-old WORKING RESTORE SESSION version of Serpent 52 also has the history menu "grayed out". I have not "started all over" (again) to make sure that my profile rebuild process isn't the cause of my "newer" Serpent 52's NOT working as far as Restore Session. My profile rebuild process basically "has to be" the root cause at this point. I admit I did not test Restore Session until AFTER rebuilding my profile. Likely will not get to that until over the weekend. -
On a side note as far as just how "old" is considered "old". I always rebuild any Chrome extension that I use, I basically never install from the Chrome Web Store, I always download the .crx and manually customize it to MY LIKING, repack, and only then use said extension. While I've not bothered to enquire the "why", but it is VERY common for the manifest.json to site "minimum_chrome_version": "120.0.0.0". So from that, yeah, Cent is "old" if it is v118. What showed up in v120 that many extensions cite it as minumum? No clue, to be perfectly honest. But I still cannot get that "update banner". Is the OP still getting it in his Cent?

I do not get that "useless update banner" in Ungoogled v118 either. This is either a Cent only issue (no interest in running Cent) or it's the user's profile/setup. I tried, in vain, to reproduce the issue and get that banner. Assuming 8 different browsers, old and older and older yet, on three different OSs but NOT trying Cent can be considered "in vain".

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hmm. I actually went the other direction. And it is possible, will deep-dive this weekend, but it is possible that my ground-up profile-build process in Serpent/Basilisk uses about:config entries from my Pale Moon/New Moon original profile. Unsure. -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I use my Serpent 52's Restore Session feature at least once a week. It has always worked and it has always filled in the table of windows/tab - BUT ONLY IF I USE A YEAR-OLD VERSION (which I am fine and content with). To me, this feature is a MUST because all all ALL of these UXP browsers have MEMORY LEAKS. -

Thanks for looking. Very strange indeed. I'll start again with a clean profile. Already did that twice but something is off. But okay with a year ago versions. Consistently. Hmmm... -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I forgot to report from home. I forget what the theme is called. Photonic, I think. But I also have a custom .css. Regardless, this issue of not filling in the table for the Restore Session is with an empty profile, no changes whatsoever from fresh-download. On every computer I've ever used Serpent on. But only "newer" than a year ago.
