  1. That only happens if the original official Google search engine is in your list of default search engines. Which it should NOT be if you run by build AS-IS and rebuild your profile from scratch. Not sure what else to tell you. Being PORTABLE, you can download AGAIN, close your current profile, extract the new download, and when you run that new download AS-IS without trying to change skin, without trying to import previous extensions, et cetera, but run AS-IS, your default search engine list should only contain ONE entry and that it is used for both the search bar and the popup menu. Not sure what else to tell you.
  2. Fair enough. All I can say is that if you use my builds AS-IS, then the default Google search engine is NOT the one where you screencap'd the hard-code for.
  3. I know where those hard-codes are (I am not stupid! Nor was I claiming anyone else to be!). I could screencap a crapload of Chinese URLs that are still in the .dll - but "in" and "executed" really are two different things. I'm not here to "fight". Just trying to offer an XP browser that works where Roytam's releases FAIL as far as "modern web". It's not going to fit "everybody's" needs. Humming Owl's releases will work better for you if you want everything hard-coded. My builds rely on a portable file structure, work does need done to import/export profiles, but download my build and run AS-IS and the default search engine list only has ONE entry and it is NOT the original official Google. If the Chinese search engines are in that list, then your profile became corrupted. Don't know how! My profiles have never become corrupted (which is kind of a surprise for v13 because it randomly used to crash quite a bit). Attempts to save/import previous profiles is a "nightmare". I don't have any good answers for that. Other than it has become a thorn in the side and why I kinda stopped doing "updates". Humming Owl's releases will work better for you if you want everything hard-coded. The Chinese reference is the Developer Tools defaulting to Chinese in v13.5 for all Incognito Mode windows - I have not dug into it yet, I only know that it's on the to-do list and that I was going to look into that when you pointed it out once. But I admit that I have not had the chance to do that yet. Both versions have their pros and cons (I kinda have an immense hatred for the way Humming Owl's releases throw a nag screen when you close the last tab on a new profile, but do not recall if that is v11, v12, v13, or all of them). If you want everything hard-coded, Humming Owl's releases may work better for you. I'm not here to "fight".
  4. That "might" work, haven't tried it. But I don't see that as the real solution, I think the status bar disappearing was unintentional and therefor a "bug". I feel that the default status bar needs returned, not "replaced" with a "new toolbar". Kind of like "replacing" the IE desktop icon on XP with a "shortcut", the shortcut doesn't have the same context menu as the "real" IE desktop icon.
  5. Google Chrome version 33 was the last version that would run on non-SSE2 hardware.
  6. That's not the same one that I use so I'm not familiar with it. What I have already works so I'm not going to rock the boat and try something new.
  7. Jeff Dunham Christmas Special
  8. Awesome! Many thanks! Monitor the "Manage Search Engines" page in Settings -> Basics. If you see the Default search settings on search bar change, try to keep track of what steps you took leading up to them changing. The Other search engines is "designed" to change itself (unless you use Tampermonkey to disable "OpenSearch").
  9. I don't have the Chrome Web Store links, but the two YouTube extensions that I use are -- 1) AdBlocker for YouTube version 0.3.4 2) Enhancer for YouTube version 2.0.105
  10. Your profile likely became corrupted also. Unsure the "exacts" on how swapping skin files willy-nilly affects things, but I do know that it does effect things.
  11. But you changed the SKIN file (and I know that D.Draker does also, that's where his Chinese is coming from, he shared a link but I was unable to download so I cannot verify fully). The way that all of the puzzle pieces fit together, that really is all it takes for things to not work as intended. One "text string" can exist, literally, in AT LEAST four different files. When you change the SKIN file, you change the "priority" of where that text string is pulled from. My ungoogled v11 should look like this - only one default search engine and it's not the original Google but a replaced Google without the telemetry.
  12. Interesting! Perhaps my NoScript or uMatrix or Greasemonkey configs are blocking it. I do not get the client=aff-cs-360se&ie crap on my config. What version are you guys seeing this in? I've been testing in v13 build 2206. Are you two seeing this in v13.5 and only in v13.5 ???
  13. I'd have to revisit, but unless you tried to keep your own "Local State", "Web Data", and "Preferences" files, then your search engine telemetry is due to that because I do use Google but not the default Google that ships with official 360Chrome.
  14. Okay, those were the only two JS sites that I had to set as "trusted" in NoScript for the Nividia "are you serious" forum to display fonts. But that test had uMatrix disabled. Once I enabled uMatrix, the fonts disappeared again. Fonts returned when I allowed JS in uMatrix for cdnjs.cloudfare.com.
  15. Sounds like you are deleting/preventing too many .log files (especially anything HIGHER than v13 build 2206). I personally do not encourage anything NEWER than v13 build 2206 - the NEWER versions (inclucing all of the v13.5's) have extension settings and telemetry data saved in the SAME LOG FILES whereas OLDER versions had two separate files and you could delete/prevent the telemetry without having any effect on your extionsion settings.
  16. Yes. I personally keep that option UNCHECKED.
  17. The most recent Arcticfox has no status bar. I didn't see any even when hovering over a link. Previous Arcticfox versions had the status bar always shown. The latest doesn't have any status bar. None at all. Not even on hover.
  18. Thanks. Have not tried the --no-sandbox parameter yet. The "disappearing act" does seem to only be v11 (which is unfortunate because it is my favorite because the GUI loads the fastest on my systems). But it's also completely random. I haven't found a repeatable do A, then B, then C to force it to happen.
  19. I disagree. Developers have the intellectual knowledge to know the probability of a "theoretical vulnerability" that will STATISTICALLY NEVER HIT A REAL-LIFE COMPUTER versus applying a patch that 100% STATISTICALLY DEGRADES PERFORMANCE. And you also know the large number of "patches" that tend to be graphic-based vectors and scalars, really nothing to do with "security". But that DEGRADE performance. I no longer follow the patches, but I do know that a very large number have NOTHING to do with "security". "Stability", perhaps. But not "security". At any rate, keep up the great work, it may appear that I'm "arguing" but I'm not trying to, just trying to paint the full picture.
  20. My v13 (and 13.5) crashed randomly with DEP AlwaysOff (I've not enabled DEP in over 20 years). I've yet to encounter any crashes with Accelerated 2D canvas disabled. You're on XP x86 SP2... I'm on XP x64 SP2 and XP x86 SP3... I wouldn't expect both our computers to behave identically...
  21. Well, the "security" answer WAS NOT AN ANSWER. It was a "copout", plain and simple. I *guarantee* you it will not be "reverted" - because that answer tells us that it's a THOUSAND different "patches" and cannot be tracked down to "a few", so the "security" answer was thrown out willy-nilly. Security is a RED HERRING. Tell people that changing a pixel color from white to black and that it was done for "security" and most people will BELIEVE YOU. Security schmacurity. Don't get me wrong, Roytam is doing it the way the MAJORITY of his followers prefer it, sacrifice PERFORMANCE for the sake of "security". It is a VALID approach! I am not trying to undermine that. But I take the opposite approach, I use OLDER versions of Roytam's browsers and prefer PERFORMANCE over "security". WE ALL HAVE THAT OPTION. Don't be "fooled" by the claim that newer offers more "security". Just my two cents. Greatly appreciate Roytam's work. It's all a matter of personal preference and we can all decide for ourselves if an older version best fits our needs or if a newer version best fits our needs.
  22. "theoritically"... "red herring"...
  23. Good news! I think! I've kinda avoided using v13 (still avoid v13.5 but for different reasons!) because v13 was randomly crashing (especially here at MSFN!) With Accelerated 2D canvas disabled, I've had this reply box open for an hour or so, had YouTube playing random videos, and had a Stylus stylesheet editor window open. I think Accelerate 2D canvas is what was causing my random crashes. Mileage may vary. Will continue to run v13 as default for the next couple of days for verification.
