  1. I'm using the PaleMoon/28.10.3a1 - Build ID: 20210218230304. My C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Temp folder is empty even after posting and logging in to a few sites upon closing the browser. I'm not sure if my prefs are helping me with this, but here they are just in case. user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.connectivityData", true); user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.offlineApps", true); user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.passwords", true); user_pref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.siteSettings", true); user_pref("privacy.firstparty.isolate", true); user_pref("privacy.sanitize.migrateFx3Prefs", true); user_pref("privacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown", true); user_pref("privacy.sanitize.timeSpan", 0); user_pref("privacy.userContext.ui.enabled", true); EDIT: The only file remaining on my system upon closing the browser, is in: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon\Profiles\PROFILE\startupCache: startupCache.4.little [1.65 MB] Upon examination, it appears to contain nonsense and I don't see any personal information within it ?
  2. Oh yeah.. I have those times, as well. Once I was a (somewhat overly) confident 20 something - strutting around with my shirt top button unbuttoned sporting a gold chain and smelling like I took a bath in Drakkar Noir cologne. I was the life of the party then - hot stuff - well IMO anyway Lol. Now, however, I feel like a broken down race horse that lost the Kentucky Derby ... I wish I were joking No hard drive explosions today please ... and determined, I'm also determined to get a good nights sleep for a change. Besides when I look back at my typos, I know its time to call it a night. I'm feeling: Tired
  3. Thus far.. @roytam1 has done our community an enormous service with his proficient browser builds. So, between Firefox 52.9.1 ESR; Serpent, and New Moon, I'm able to do everything I need to. When I do have to use Chrome, regrettably, Vivaldi/Opera/Iron are all only based on 49, so I only use it when I truly need to because of 5 years of gaping security holes. Otherwise.. I'm basically on a 'Rickroll'
  4. For me, remembering the past brings me great pain if I'm to be totally honest. Actually, there is a difference, though, between Nostalgic and Wistful. Speaking computers and legacy items from the past ... nothing wrong with 'digging up bones' ' / 'blast from the past' - so to speak. We get a chance to appreciate what others were seeing as brand spanking new and fresh at that time in history. Sometimes it bring lots of us comfort to seek out what is familiar, it seems, at times, just when we get the 'hang' of it ... boom - things are already obsolete; its frustrating. So, being nostalgic is fine; so long as your desire is for novelty sake. However.. wistful, here is where we can fall into regret(s). We can't go back, because yesterday is over and the 'here and now' is what we need to shift our focus on - not what once 'was'. Remember, you are young with your whole life ahead of you. Appreciate the fact that the past 'shapes' you but doesn't 'define' you going forward. I think we all (to some degree) have regrets and wish we could go back and do things differently ( I know I do ); but there is no "undo" button on life, so we (as best as possible) accept that it was a long windy (perhaps bumpy) road to get to where we are now and every day above ground is a blessing! Enjoy life, @Tonny52 and never let a moment u pass by :) "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards" -Søren Kierkegaard
  5. Well.. I'm old enough to know better, but I'm still too young to care - Haha! Nostalgia is awesome, isn't it. When people say (paraphrasing) "you can't run and old OS in 2021", this increases my determination even further. I don't usually admit to such: but I have 2 IBM thinkpad laptops - one running win98 and the other winME. Both work just fine but they don't go online anymore, we'll, actually, they have dial-up modems, so perhaps when I'm feeling brave one day. Why in the world would I toss them in the rubbish when I play my music and games and record (using audacity) my old tape cassettes into MP3s so beautifully. Sometimes I look at my old computers and say to myself, My word ... we've been through a lot together LOL!! I'm feeling : Dizzy.
  6. Same here.. We can't get a 'do-over' - I would have done things differently goes without saying (even though I'm saying it), but Hindsight is 20/20! Heck ... where did the last 20 year go LOL :)
  7. I wouldn't consider myself to be a hardcore diehard; I just enjoy it, and for me, it's a challenge to keep it running. When somebody says you 'can't' do something, that makes me want to prove them wrong even more! I intend to hold on to it so long as my aging hardware continues to grow old gracefully :)
  8. I suspect a lot of us are, as well, but too ashamed to admit it :) I admit I"m a real character to put it mildly. I'm feeling : Wired (too much caffeine today Lol.
  9. Sometimes, our systems just get combative and ornery with age I consider my system to be fitting with my personality - moody and touchy and bit annoying at times Lol! Seriously though, I have various errors that I've yet to correct, so I just 'roll with it' so long as I can do what I want. Good luck!
  10. Thank u, @VistaLover for your fast and helpful reply. Indeed - I do have some more reading to do - will check out your link and get a better understanding. And I thought my use of TCP/IP https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Harden-It.shtml Was saving my butt all this time.. Lol Have a good one
  11. Hello and nice day to everyone here at MSFN Ok, so I have 'issues' (of course, re computers, ha) ... currently, here, JS is enabled on here (genuine useragent) ; however, as you can see below, I'm testing a profile (Serpent52) with JS disabled globally. I've (indeed) tried your advice re 'general.oscpu.override' as well as "general.useragent.override' both set to read as Windows 10. user_pref("general.oscpu.override", "Windows NT 10.0"); user_pref("general.platform.override", ""); user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0"); However, as you can (clearly) see, my OS is still being detected ??? I'm literally racking (what's left) of my brain here and am at a loss. I've been reading and reading and reading here for 2 hours plus and cannot come up with a solution, so I turn to ask for your opinion. Any advice appreciated in advance.. Have a good weekend
  12. OH.. I'm sorry @VistaLover my typing sadly lacking today, I'm afraid, and I didn't write that correctly. security.mixed_content.block But you are right, in that, there is not default pref, as mixed_content.block_object comes up a an empty string now that I reset it? I guess one of my many invalid prefs carried over from that past :(
  13. Thank you very much @Sampei.Nihira for your help re this. Just did the test and mixed content is indeed blocked \ ~mixed_content.block_content = true `mixed_content.block_object_subrequest = true
  14. ~continued from Explorere 260 thread~ As I've said there.. I've taken your advice and disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1: version.fallback_limit "4" https://www.ghacks.net/2018/04/13/mozilla-starts-to-enable-tls-1-3-on-firefox-stable/ version.min "3" version.max "4" [default]) ... and everything looks dandy all but the Insecure Cipher Suites. 0xc00a TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC 0xc014 TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC 0x0045 TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_CAMELLIA_128_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC 0x0088 TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_CAMELLIA_256_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC 0x009d TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 NO PFS 0x002f TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC, NO PFS 0x0041 TLS_RSA_WITH_CAMELLIA_128_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC, NO PFS 0x0035 TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC, NO PFS 0x003d TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA256 CBC, NO PFS 0x0084 TLS_RSA_WITH_CAMELLIA_256_CBC_SHA CBC, SHA-MAC, NO PFS However, I'm uncertain on how to disable them in Serpent52 and NewMoon28. Any advice is much appreciated in advance. Enjoy your Monday everyone
  15. ~Off Topic~ I also haven't (yet) used this browser due in large part, because I haven't the time to dedicate to configuring it ... I wouldn't just use it 'as is'; of course. One day, though, going to need more options, as I've yet to (fully) embrace Chrome and have thus far stuck with FF/PM and forks (Serpent and New Moon). I've taken your advice and disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 and everything looks dandy - all but the Insecure Cipher Suites. I will address my question(s) in the proper thread, so as to not further take this thread off course - I will also quote you there - Advice is appreciated. ~Off Topic~
  16. I'm posting this now from 45esr. Seems overall pretty good, but still lagging pretty heavily on youtube; unfortunately :( When I have more time I'll mess around with this a little more. TY :)
  17. Hello everyone.. I don't normally come on here to beyotch in this thread =P Has anybody besides me notice that youtube lately - lags, stutters, and skips in the last few Serpent and New Moon builds? Hard to watch vids now. Idk, hate to say it, I don't think its anything to do with Roy; likely just google changing thing again and discriminating against anything other than google chrome Well, what has helped thus far: In the task manager - setting either palemoon or basilisk to "above normal" - and setting explorer to "below normal" or "Low". This helps somewhat. Also, if your just listening to a song, minimizing the browser and the song plays fine without any skipping. Have a great weekend!
  18. Welcome to MSFN :) Oh.. the memories of DOS/Win3.1 and my IBM Thinkpads. Have fun !
