How usable is Windows Media Center in 2024?
Yeah, I figured this might've been the case... It's a little sad to see this legacy feature pretty much gone. I'll just refrain from trying to use WMC. Thanks!

How usable is Windows Media Center in 2024?
I've been considering doing something with one of my Windows 7 laptops, and since I have never actually used WMC before, I thought it might be interesting to try and set it up on the laptop, however I've been getting concerned about the usability of this program as it's pretty outdated by now. I don't have a tuner yet, and before I even think of buying one I have to know: how usable is WMC these days? As in: If I get a tuner and set it up would it work with WMC out of the box with no mods/workarounds?

Windows Vista and Lenovo G570
I'm considering purchasing a Lenovo G570 laptop, and I'd like to know if Windows Vista would perform well on it. (as I know that Vista doesn't work well on computers with Intel Haswell CPUs) Any help is appreciated.

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
Well most likely, he's probably really busy though.

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
The Feb 2021 release straight up gives me a "Windows failed to start" error.

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
When I try to install the Extended Kernel December 2020 release, it installs smoothly then after logging into Windows I recieve a SHELL32.dll error, and then explorer crashes and wont reopen, however my system meets all the criteria for it to work.: It is 64-bit, updates until EOL + most of the optional non-security hotfixes from the Vista update repository and Server 2008 updates are installed, so uhh what is wrong??

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
So I'm after another clean install and while trying to install the extended kernel December 2020 release it says: "file not found" during copying the new files. Had to use system restore three times (it renamed old files but didnt copy new ones so it BSOD at startup). Why is this happening? Edit: nevermind extracting to desktop helped...?

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
I'm having the same issue right here... Right now im reverting to a restore point before the kernel extension. I installed every single update WU offered + MSE and Silverlight.

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
Also ever since installing the extended kernel no startup sound plays, every other sound plays normally except the startup sound.

Windows Vista Branding is a little messed up in winver
Welcome! I don't know why but whenver I open winver the branding is.. a little unnatural? And the icon of winver.exe is the "missing" icon for some reason. Every other edition's branding looks normal it's just Home Premium's that is broken. It's not an issue, it's just... why? This might be a time-waster topic (really sorry), but I really am curious.

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
And it is probably tedious.. But if you want a secure and working platform you've gotta suffer, I guess.

flash drives not detected in windows xp
Do you have any other computers/laptops in wherever youre residing right now? If yes then try plugging the not working USB into another computer/laptop and see if it works. The USB might've just died, or the XP laptop just doesn't work with this particular one.
- Vista/2008R1 desktops

[WIP] Windows Vista Extended Kernel
I found out that SFC replaces the extended kernel files with the original unmodified versions. Running SFC every once in a while is important, but having to replace the files after every SFC scan is tiring. Is there any way to prevent this?

Windows 2k on a modern pc?
Well the leak was XP SP1 from what I know so XP SP2 and SP3 are secure (in a way) for now.
