  1. Courtesy of Hangar0, https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24715&p=102101#p102101, this build of mplayer works well in XP. Other than the dvd menu (which is f***ed up), it works with smplayer - just copy onto the mplayer folder of smplayer 21.1.0 (the last version that seems to work in XP. On a related manner. Can someone with the due expertise test this version of ffmpeg (https://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/FFmpeg/git-N-104423-g682bafdb12/), compared to that of https://rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M&O=D?
  2. I consider Comodo bloatware, and am not sure of how safe it is, in terms of privacy. I prefer simpler things like kerio and privatefirewall. I disable the MS firewall.
  3. Not sure if it could help you but you may want to give it a try: https://www.paehl.de/checkdisk
  4. Well, I remember using w2 (with those old external sort-of-disks), w3 in the early 1990, w5 and then w98-me. I almost decided to stick to wme. But XP was so much better... I pondered moving into w7, but I saw very few advantages and many drawbacks. I never considered moving into w8 and all subsequent spyware.
  5. I read somewhere here (can't find it) that it is possible to get rid of the "restore" popup... How do you do that? It is annoying to have to close a useless (for me) popup. Thanks!
  6. As per all this font fingerprinting (ahem) stuff... Almost a joke, nowadays, particularly in a Chinese derivative of a google product. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIX_6EVf7pI
  7. Hi there. I've been testing 13.5 I've noticed that connecting to two services that use dx (say youtube and a movie provider such as most movie sites -ok.ru for example) end in error, even if run in different browsers. My system being tweaked beyond recognition may be it.
  8. There was a second sentence that I decided to delete, if you must know.
  9. Ha ha, @VistaLover, the damn thing kept working anyway, and lookin' good. No blame, the I'ching says :P
  10. Thanks mate. I had it as a bat routine to copy those libraries into the program folder.
  11. Yeah, gotta test with the links @VistaLoverthrew in, but at least works with the lav files in the second post of this thread.
  12. Is that so? I refuse! PS: Now seriously, really?
  13. Your last 13 build is quite solid, @Humming Owl. Thank you. PS: I keep switching between yours and Artifoxie's 13 -this week is yours :P.
  14. I do not allow udp connections for browsers. That probably explains why I can't replicate. EDIT: UDP does that, it listens until a connection asks in.
  15. What I do is to run two different profiles using https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/firefox/addon/profileswitcher/. The addon's interface is half broken: it won't show profile names, but it will make the profile manager pop up, then you can run a profile with no multiprocess along side one with it, when needed.
  16. Check with any on-demand antivirus. The file is clear. I can't replicate this.
  17. Interestingly, it doesn't work with avcodec-lav-58.dll -https://github.com/3dyd/LAVFiltersXP/releases- (which works fine in sp52). But the lav folder in the second post of this thread (avcodec-lav-57.dll) does the trick. Live videos in youtube work well with that for me. Video quality is low, though. I imagine this could be solved with addons (will try youtube enhancer or any such) for youtube, but not quite so in FB. Will keep testing. Thanks!
  18. First test vanilla: (due to UA probably?) I can't play youtube fro mainpage (your browser can't play this video...) or embedded (loading player...). I can't play FB videos either, and going down the feed eventually results in stuttering. No Silverlight support (which may be dying soon, anyway) Normal sites: it browses nicely. No issue loading multiple tabs, fast rendering. Chalkboard on par with sp52 with multiprocess (a bit slower, but good). Thanks! It's good to have a new alternative.
  19. Even portable soft can mess with your firewall and other system settings if you are careless -particularly with software whose source is not open to scrutiny.
  20. Hiya used to be very common in the US-European leet gaming communities between the early 1990s and early 2000s (dunno if that 's the case now or before-just to sound peasant like). True, they didn't sound well educated, but could sure be annoying (or worse) if you messed with them. Anyhow, I could not detect the connections below in either 13s @Articfoxie or @Humming Owl mods (never used 360chrome cn or ru without these two guys' modding first): Host Name : hiya.browser.360.cn Host Name : puv.tt.browser.360.cn As per not using chino-russian "things" where does 360chrome come from, I wonder.
  21. FF? You mean netscape, then FF in the early 2000s. I wonder which new FOSS browser would pick up the slack. PM (laf) wont be it. Chromium derivatives laf square
  22. I miss the fat boy, though. Unban him. I wanna have fun.
