  1. Has anyone tried this build? I've tried it and works well with tor3 links. Of course, since there is no source available, there are reasons to be careful. But it is good to see that tor3 works in XP.
  2. Hi! v.0.5.5 is the version downloaded from the link you provided, back in the day. You can presumably find it in the older versions section of said page. v.1.5 is the current version, the one suggested by @Dr. Drill.
  3. Thank you @Dr. Drill. I will try it thorughly. My first try (I go for the tightest thing, always :P) has not been successful. For example, being tight I cannot login to to MSFN. @Sampei.Nihira, what say you, fratelo? Well, what is not China related, anyway?. The problem is never China (or Russia, or -do I dare to say, would they "legally" torture me for wondering so?- the USA). The issue at hand is: is it FOSS? Is it transparent? Can I check what you do? I look forward to see what your efforts on behalf of this small community will bring to a better future, @roytam1. Seriously.
  4. Try p-serv - http://p-nand-q.com/download/pserv_cpl/index.html. I have version 2,7 running since forever, and it works like a charm. I haven't tried newer versions, but would like to know if someone is running them
  5. Hi, which version of canvasblocker is currently working in serpent52? I'm using 0.55 from firefox, but I wonder if a newer one could be tweaked to install AND works. There is also the one for basilisk by feodor (v 0.2) and may move to it. Thanks.
  6. What a sad story "Frequent, but inconclusive, BSODs?". I was left wondering if he was ever able to complete a full dump. A decade gone, I can feel the pain
  7. I did, to the best of my knowledge do as instructed, but swapadd doesn't see what memory booster 1 reports. When creating the small pagefile, swapadd picks it up, but not of the size memory booster reports. So I reckon that all the performance gains (subjective as they may be) came from disabling the pagefile altogether (as @jaclaz recommended somewhere else in this forum, running exclusively on RAM). I am now trying a small fixed pagefile on a non system drive (and a temp drive runing on excess RAM) in my usual PC, and it feels more responsive. Memory booster still picks up a larger pagefile, which moves as I do stuff, but I cannot find it anywhere, with swapadd only picling up the fixed sized I'd created. Maybe something to do with Vsuite Ramdisk 1.18, downlodable from https://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/vsuite-ramdisk/download.html. When I have a chance will test this in a vanilla system. Thanks for the feedback!
  8. I was just testing an XP3 system, intel I5-769, 8gb DD3 RAM on a P55 motheboard. It probably is a ridiculous thing, but... I have a z:\ [temp] drive made with Vsuite RamDisk (Romex) 1.10, last freeware version running 4gb on undetected RAM. I tried different methods to move pagefile.sys into it, to no avail. My last try was (and I do not know if it has anything to do with it, but who knows) was whats is sugested at http://www.dkc-atlas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=2102. Now, I COULD NOT move pagefile.sys into it, not that I could SEE. Yet, memorybooster showed me, as in the pic below (with k-meleon running netflix, basilisk 52 heavily tweaked and charged with addons running some top heavy pages youtube -iddle, inclusive-, and both with -relative to hardware- top-heavy nvidiaProfileInspector settings, PLUS a heavy I/O app running javaw using -javaw alone- up to 25% of CPU- that there was a pagefile, somwhere: as shown in the pic, MB detected a pagefile (that I could not see in any partition). As per the link above, I had previously disabled pagefile in system-advanced-performance, ran the addwapp app (to no visible avail) yet 2+GB were used of a pagefile I could not SEE anywhere - neither in C:\ not in Z:\ (which is the ramdisk for temp mentioned before). And the speed of the system... I was flying like I was not doing so since 2006-7. I have not the expertice to ascertain what is making this s*** work, but on this setup, performance was great. Just sayin, the way ignorant folk say s***. Cheers.
  9. This may be the issue I won't change just for this: https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/DirectX-10-for-Windows-XP.shtml
  10. Resurrect-pages-3 at https://github.com/veo/Firefox-addons worls fine
  11. In my usual system, XomPIE breaks directx, and without XomPIE, update 291 would'nt run. For some apps -those that do not require directX- it suffices to copy the required files (errors reporting missing files) can be solved by copying them into the java/bin folder. This doesn't make the trick, again, for apps requiring directX. This is probably due to tweaks, restrictions in my system. In a vanilla -but heavily nlited- system, it seems to work fine. For me, upd152 seems to be the last version. But I wonder if PatchPE may do the trick. I will try some time, and report back in this post. Thanks!
  12. @Dave-H, BY MISTAKE POSTED HERE - COULD YOU PLEASE MOVE IT? IT BELONGS TO Hi, I took a first shot. I managed to do the xompie thing in a clean nlited VM. And it seems to work. In my usual pc, though, while working, Xompie breaks a few things -including Serpent. So I xompied java in VM, and copied the converted files to my PC. Will report on use tomorrow. Thanks!
  13. @Dave-H, BY MISTAKE POSTED HERE - COULD YOU PLEASE MOVE IT? IT BELONGS TO Probably you have it, like me, since forever, and can't get rid of it. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}. A remnant of some of the first versions of flash. EDIT: I was testing xompie around the same time I did this, xompie broke basilisk52, so I was worried this thinghie may have been the cause, It wasn't. In fact, it probably does nothing, other than allowing me to be free of registry errors after almost two decades of watching this key showing up over and over in multiple reg cleaners, with no indication whatsoever on how to delete the damn thing. Now is gone. I'm happy! Ha ha. The issue -for me at least- was the permissions. Go to the key in regedit, (1) permissions, (2) advanced, where there is an entry (the first one) that says Everyone . Open it and it is set to (3) deny. Change values to (4) allow. Now delete.
  14. Kerio and Privatefirewall are good alternatives, but I am not sure if they can handle the kind of (ahem) stuff that you may unleash installing software like the ones (but not necessarily so) discussed here. Those installers may bypass your firewall (and other security) settings altogether, "for the convenience of users."
  15. I do not use this 360 browser, but I may, so I follow (which helps in other areas too, given the input provided from users like yourself) this thread. Going to your point, you may want to try Firemin (which despite what the page says, seems to work in XP -but I have not yet found any need for it, so I don't know if it really does) https://www.rizonesoft.com/downloads/firemin/. Cheers
  16. I would like to find one for KM, and will report back if I find it.
  17. Thank you very much for this. I will try it soon and report back. Does it provide any significant improvement over previous versions? I am running 8.0.17, and do not use Java apps unless forced to it. But I do run it: for example, I am runnig now docfetcher over a 50+gb chunk of files I want indexed for text searching within those 50+gb of files :P
  18. I think the addon only calls the client. But as I said, I could only test on firefox. What is the addon (extension) you are using?
  19. I coudln't install it on Seerpent 52, only in old firefox 52 esr. In this last case it requires installing the client, which is the one tha controls audio and video.
  20. Yup. It was as simple as that. Thanks @VistaLover
  21. Yeah, it is my settings, which are quite convoluted. I will have to find out (other than httpseverywhere) what is causing this -which is indeed forcing https connections when they are not available, even in pristine (vanilla, @VistaLover) profiles. Thanks for the feedback!
  22. Hi. I am having issues with some pages not loading at all ("Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at...") in Baslisk 52 vainilla, even though they load seamlessly in k-meleon and other borwsers. The pages are: http://kmext.sourceforge.net/ (I cannot open this one even in firefox 52 esr) www.malsmith.net/yori/ (opens in firefox 52 ESR) There may be others that I assumed dead, but are alive and well in k-meleon. Can you replicate this? Thanks!
  23. For basilisk (at least) ruffle is able to run flash files -in places such as old movies repos. It doesn't run on kmeleon :(, but probably does in PM. The desktop app doesn't seem to work in xp, but flash files can be playe in almost all traditional players (vlc, smplayer, MPC 1.7...) https://ruffle.rs/#releases
  24. I have been playing with K-meleon. It is such an improvement on speed... for those pages where it work :P... which are most
