I still prefer making my own XP using Addons. Like QFE + POS + IE8 + whatever else I decide to integrate.

This is such a tired discussion at this point. We all have tried all of the various patches. Some of us Have copies of 2003 server enterprise that natively does this. Fact is none of the patches are any good for everyone. Because they all do the same thing transplant or Mod XP so that it acts like 2003 server and with that comes hardware compatibility issues. Never mind Software incompatibility issues that arise from programs not running in a 2003 environment correctly.

Probably will not work because It doesn't use a creative chipset that is resembles anything that would run on XP like X-FI for example. Remember that the audio subsystem on widows Vista/7/8/10 is different than 2k/xp/2003/2003x64. Microsoft removed the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) for DirectSound and DirectSound3D in Vista+ So chances that you could hack the driver to work is subsequently zero since it fundamentally different

Obviously you want to manually install SP# of office 1st. lastly if you are not using Microsoft update and just using normal windows update you wont get updates for office.

SP4 won't help you, as it contains no updates for office. I've demonstrated on the forum that the same issue applies to office 2003 with 2007 comparability pack. This behavior doesn't exist on 2003 vanilla without the compatibility pack. It is specifically SP3 of the compatibility pack vanilla compatibility pack doesn't cause a issue till u install sp3. After that manual updates to the compatibility pack are necessary to proceed. It is easy enough since its only 3-4 updates. For 2007 I have no idea I didn't trouble shoot the problem only 2003. If you want to make a VM and break fix XP with 2007 office to figure out which hotfixes specifically break it we could make a thread about it and I would post the 2003 stuff there. My windows update with all office patches installed is not 1 hour it is more like 5 minutes. What you want to do is go to the update catalog and search for Office 2007 and list updates by date. Install the most recent ones. Like the cones for specific office 2007 applications and the ones that say suites.

This guide doesn't tell you that you can't manually instal this if you have FF set to never remember history. Uncheck that and restart firefox before you try.

ya you can make Win 7 look like XP by default, and just change the theme to classic. You can take it a step further and install http://www.classicshell.net/ Classic shell works on win 8 too.

Get this card As for low profile, you are on your own there you may have to make your own bracket for that not really hard to do if u are handy.

Been covered a few times but Win 98 doesn't have WPA 2. There are a couple cards, and I mean a couple that have WPA2 suplicants for 98. You should get one of them. DLINK has one if you want a PCI card. I believe there is a couple USB WIFI Sticks that have WPA 2 supliucants. The only other way to get WPA2 on 98 is to use Odyssey Client which doesn't work with every card even though it's universal and It's very hard to get a working pro version that isn't shareware, Id say next to impossible. Pretty much, how I feel exactly and why I am so peeved. OK JodyT has the right to say whatever he wants, But we also have the right to run whatever we want on our computers. So we agree you can say whatever you want but you have to agree to stop telling us to uninstall our operating systems and tell us what to do. I still Run windows 98 and DOS on one computer simply because I have games that don't run on anything else and emulation is terrible. I have XP on a couple notebooks simply because they wont run anything higher without lag. I run XP in a VM simply because it takes little to no resources to do so. The only reason I run win 7 x64 is because of hardware and memory to run my games. Before I ran win 7 X64 I was running XP x64 on my gaming rig. I have a lot of older hardware and I need old operating systems to run it. When I say a lot you need to understand it is like Hoarder levels. Like you see hoarders show on TV levels. I can really support myself. I don't need somone to support me cuz I know wtf I am doing on every level. Also I am not like a consumer ok, I am a real IT person who knows sh*t. I Professionally worked In IT since I was 18 years old and I am almost 40 now. My first job I ever had in IT was as a system builder for a government contractor. This was back when White Box Worstations and Servers was a thing. I supported other people in real life at multiple Help Desk jobs. One where I supported over 3000 employees. if it's never caused u problems than theres no reason to not try it, I think he meant theres nothing in Sp4 but basically post Sp3 hotfixes and some pos ones. So ya its easy way to get them all at once, but it compared to like other update packs like userhiddens + Pos its basically the same.

Yes and no. There is unoffical Dx 10 patch that makes a couple games work but not without mods. A lot of games may simply just refuse to run on XP even if u could theoretically get them to work. Don't know what the rules are for posting it but if u google it DX 10 XP you can find it. I personally think its a waste of time unless you have a specific game thats been tested to run.

These are very rare files that I am posting, MS has gone out of their way to make them unavailable as you can no longer acquire these files that I have uploaded. I am missing 2 files.
