I have copied the disk.sys and partmgr.sys files from Windows 2003 to Windows XP. But nothing new happens. The disk appears in the disk manager as a protective GPT partition I leave the attachments. Caution, Spanish version, I don't know if they are the same as English version Edit: They are the same in English as in Spanish partmgr.sys disk.sys

Has anyone run Google Widevine successfully? I read here that it does not work in 2018. http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1991545.html On the other hand I would like to know why the command chrome: // components does not get response in 360 Extreme Explorer Also although the Silverlight plugin appears as installed, it does not work on sites like Netflix either. this is visible in chrome: // plugins

Update 2025-07-24: The solution is in the links in this first post for data hard disks. Follow these instructions strictly and open the links!!!! For bootable hard disks see this other post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp-solved/page/31/#findComment-1279892 Working with the GPT driver 8.0.1.0 included in Paragon Partition Manager 15 from Windows XP, I have completely filled a 6 TB hard disk connected to SATA port in IDE mode and successfully verified that the data written to it is correct both from Windows XP and Windows Seven with the program "H2testw". +2 TiB via USB it is also possible but only works with Windows 2003 drivers and only if the adapter translates the logical sector from 512 to 4096 bytes. With these drivers you cannot exceed the 2^32 sector limit, so they are not suitable for SATA +2TiB without data corruption unless the ACHI/RAID driver allows it. I think that the issue of working correctly with GPT disks in Windows XP can be considered "solved", without prejudice to fixing problems that may arise regarding hardware compatibility and software tools. Subsequently, several users have corroborated these tests, and despite the fact that there are several drawbacks to take into account, if you follow the instructions GPT +2TiB works on XP, always at your own risk. This post is only intended to help those who want to do it. If you think it is a disaster to lose your data, you don't do it. The Paragon GPT driver generally only works in IDE mode. If you cannot enable IDE mode you can install a PCI Express card with SATA ports that has a switch to enable "IDE mode" or "no boot mode". Caution, you don't use other versions of Paragon GPT Loader, I have found that all of them are limited to the 32-bit sector limit (that is 2 TiB). You don't use the Paragon driver if you have Windows XP with PAE to go over the 4 GiB RAM limit, this causes data corruption on the GPT hard disks +2TiB working by SATA!!! Make a partition table copy!! Because in certain circumstances partitions disappear just by opening Windows XP Disk Manager without performing any additional operations. This happens if you delete the MSR partition that is automatically created when you initialize a disk as GPT, and then create additional partitions without this MSR partition existing. In this case, when you start Disk Management in Windows XP, all the partitions disappear because the partition table is corrupted. The Paragon driver does not work with external hard disks connected via USB, in USB ports with hard disks until 16 TiB we can use Windows 2003 drivers with USB adapters that transfer the logical sector from 512 bytes to 4096 bytes. Although this is also possible with MBR disks +2TiB without the need to install any driver. The Windows 2003 driver version also limits the hard disks size in Windows XP to 2 TiB on SATA ports and by USB if the translation of the logical sectors to 4096 does not occur. You don't use the Windows 2003 drivers alone to work with hard drives connected to the SATA port, these can be installed together with the Paragon GPT Loader 8.0.1.0 Apparently, the 2 TiB limit affects both MBR and GPT (it's actually a limit of 2^32 sectors). Meanwhile, the 2 TiB limitation remains built into Windows XP with GPT hard disks. This limitation prevents the hard disks from working properly unless is installed the Paragon GPT Loader driver 8.0.1.0 contents at Paragon Partition Manager 15 Professional. This is the latest version available for Windows XP, it is a downgrade from the 10.0.5.95 driver as the latter is limited to 2 TiB hard disks on Windows XP and also contains BSOD errors when starting the boot from FAT32 partitions. At the moment it is not possible to properly install the driver 8.0.1.0 without running the program installer. However, in the installer you can choose to install only the driver. I have not yet tested how Paragon Partition Manager works when editing GPT partitions. Chkdsk does not work until Windows XP is booted. Also most software tools for editing hard disk partitions do not work on Windows XP with GPT hard disks. ¡¡¡Please use this with caution, protect your data or don't use it!!! Updated posts for info: GPT install solution is in this comment and the following: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1249360 Troubleshooting see here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/page/24/#findComment-1276431 Test results for all GPT driver versions here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/page/25/#findComment-1276781 Test edit partitions tools at: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/page/3/#findComment-1249366 Original post 2020-09-24: I have seen for a long time that it is possible install WindowsServer2003-KB919117 update on Windows xp to read GPT disks. I have noted that disk.sys must be extracted to work in XP and I don't remember what this means. Do you know information to read GPT disks in XP? I want to read a USB disk.

The next day it was perfectly installed in Firefox 49 without doing anything else. Test pages: https://html5test.com/ https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page (Netflix continues to work only with Silverlight enabled) Edit: I keep not getting it in Firefox 52.9.0 ESR I'll turn on the computer tomorrow, let's see if it works ... Today it does not appear in the plugins list as in Firefox 49
-
It was already set to false. The weird thing is that the browser menus also turn black. (not just web pages) Edit: The problem on Windows XP has been fixed. It was because I had set to delete cookies when the browser is closed. I was confused because every time I opened a new tab with Google, the question would reappear, after I accepted on other tabs. Now I have set keep cookies until they expire* I continue with the problem on w2000 *Edit: On K-meleon must also be disabled to close cookies on exit. Tools + Privacy + Delete data + Delete automatically

Unfortunately it has not worked. After a few seconds the screen turns black. Yesterday it worked perfectly. Today I put some versions of K-Meleon and New Moon configured in another computer and that is when it has stopped working. I've tried your original K-Meleon and New Moon and now they don't work either.
-
Yes, now it works for me on New Moon 28.9.01a with Silverlight. I don't know beacuse I didn't do it before.

I have been able to watch Netflix just by installing Silverlight nPapi on Firefox 49. I have not succeeded on Firefox 52 ESR On the Internet there are many web pages that say you can install nPapi on Firefox 52 with this: about: config plugin.load_flash_only = false But it's not working. Nor does it install Silverlight on New Moon. I have also not gotten Adobe Primetime to work on Firefox as indicated here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/175591-enable-mp4-h264-aac-html5-video-in-firefox-on-windows-xp-without-flash Nor have I been able to get Google Widevine to work on Chrome 49 or 360 Extreme Explorer. On Chrome 49 the Widevine folder appears empty, I have downloaded 1.4.8.903 and I have pasted this but it does not work for me: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp3/EOL/WideVineCDM
-
Does H264 still work with this method? I have tried both on Firefox 49 and on Firefox 52 ESR and it does not work for me on the test page https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html On Firefox 52 ESR it doesn't install and on Firefox 49 In the plugin the message "Adobe Primetime will be installed shortly" appears continuously.

I have an Acer x3900 (i3 1st gen H57 chipset) with dual boot Windows 2000 and XP On w2000 I have the Intel® HD Graphics Media video driver 14.46.08 win2k by @blackwingcat (2011-10-06) Today, Firefox-based browsers, a few seconds after starting, begin to show web pages little by little with black spots until the screen, including the browser menu, until it is completely filled with black. This happens to me in Firefox 12, New Moon & K-Meleon by @roytam1 on all web pages. I have uninstalled the video driver and the problem is solved with VGA 640x480. I have reinstalled the video driver and Firefox 12 works fine but New Moon and K-Meleon keep turning black. w2000 works perfectly with movies, other programs and with IE and Double Web Browser. Additional curiosity is given that www.google.com freezes Firefox 12. On Windows XP I do not have black screen problems, but it is also curious that in all browsers Google asks me to accept their privacy conditions every time I start them. Example K-Meleon black screen on w2000: Example New Moon black screen on w2000:

After reviewing multiple forums on the Internet, checking the updates one by one, I have verified that the latest Net Framework 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.5 update is the one found in the Wincert forum by "user_hidden" updated on 2013-10-14. https://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/7474-addon-microsoft-net-framework-v35-sp1-full-20131008/ So before checking if there are new updates with Windows Update or other alternative programs, this is the most updated list in 2020 on the Internet, as well as its possible installation order: for 1.1sp1 (2012-05-09) 1. dotnetfx.exe (2003/04/03, 23.1MB, redistributable 1.1) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3 2. High temperature caution! but the heat sink is cold.
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Hardware Hangout
Much is written about the importance of applying thermal paste. The last computer I bought new was in 2000 year, a IBM Net Vista A-20 (Pentium III) From factory it came without contact paste. In practice I don't usually put thermal paste on any computer that will support a possible faster processor change in the future. In tests I have only noticed a maximum increase of 3º centigrade with or without pasta. I do not know if any part of the processor will suffer from my unconsciousness. poor thing, I am very sorry! -
The portable version saves the configuration in its own directory. So you can have another version with installer. You can actually install multiple versions in multiple folders but they share settings. If you do not want to share configuration it is ideal to use portable versions in different directories.

Intel MEI Driver: PCI Simple Communications Controller
Cixert replied to bluebolt's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Currently the file can be downloaded from here: http://ftp.tekwind.co.jp/pub/asustw/mb/socket1155/P8B-C/Driver/Intel_C20x_MEI_NULL_HECI_VER1232002.zip It has not worked on Acer x3900 with H57 chipset A message appears saying that no available software for this driver was found in the "all" folder -
High temperature caution! but the heat sink is cold.
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Hardware Hangout
It has been 2 months with the new heatsink-fan and I have not had problems with heating again. I have closed the cover adjusting the turbine to the fan. I am still without thermal paste and without problems. -
I have read a few about supercomputers created with PCIe cards Xeon Phi. It appears to be the fastest in the world and to have up to 72 cores. The process works with a PCIe card that contains a co-processor and requires Intel Manycore Platform Software Stack (MPSS). Are there versions for Windows XP? Don't need any additional drivers? I also read that specifically compatible motherboards are required. Meeting these requirements, I understand that Xeon Phi 72x5 Product Family (14 nm) Knights Mill 2017 version could be installed. But what would it do? Can it be applied to all programs or only a few designed for Xeon Phi?

High temperature caution! but the heat sink is cold.
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Hardware Hangout
When I went to check the paste, the plastic that holds the closure has broken so I have changed the fan and heatsink. At the moment there is no temperature problem, it is around 57º C. and at the moment I have not put thermal paste. But I keep the computer cover open. I have several questions why the old fan could fail. It sounded weird, like it was forced to spin at high speed and couldn't cool down. I can think of several possible causes. 1-Fan too close to the heatsink could impede an air flow. 2-The turbine in the cover was too far from the fan, preventing air circulation. Here I think that either the turbine is approaching or it is suppressed. 3-There is a metallic sticker attached to the heatsink. Is this useful? When I touch it, it doesn't absorb the heat from my finger -
How use Windows Legacy Update with .WLU extension
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
On my computers WLU does not work with WHS 5.7, the message appears asking me for other user although I am an administrator. Is it possible that I have a service or function disabled? I managed to uninstall WHS 5.8 on w2000 as I indicated above. Regedit Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall And find the program to uninstall The path to uninstall is in Uninstallstring Path to Uninstall Windows Script Host C: \ WINNT \ $ NtUninstallscripten $ \ spuninst \ spuninst.exe After I installed IE 6.0 SP1 full version with WHS 5.7 -
I'm reading that Epson Laser Color is Windows 2000 compatible in 2020. Or so it seemed to me since it has been a mirage that I cannot understand. Since if we enter today on the official Epson website there are only laser printers before 2009 https://epson.com/Support/Printers/sh/s1 Then looking elsewhere I have seen this one that is from the year 2012. Epson Aculaser C9300N - DIN A3 only 1560 euros ;-) https://www.directindustry.es/prod/epson-europe/product-32942-1128431.html It seems that it is difficult to find the Good, Pretty and Cheap model, you have to look at them one by one. Other brands: Brother => They don't give drivers for 2000-XP in 2020 Canon => They do give drivers for Windows XP in 2020, for some models. HP=> Latest Driver Package for XPe is HP Universal Print Driver Add-on 4.7.0.4 REV-A2 for XPe - sp42764 (year?) Not for 2000-XP in 2020 But I have tried to download 2 drivers for Windows Seven and these have been installed perfectly in Windows XP (I have not tested if the printers work). ------ HP Color Laser MFP 178nw ------ HP_Color_Laser_MFP_178_179_Full_Software_and_Drivers_1.14.exe ------ HP M254dw Laser Jet Pro ------ HP_LaserJet_M252_PCL6_Legacy_Print_Driver_15309.exe Konica Minolta => I only see that they offer a universal driver for sale by contacting by form https://www.konicaminolta.eu/eu-en/software/connectivity/universal-print-driver In their models I only see industrial machines Kyocera => No offer drivers for 2000-XP in 2020 Lexmark => They do not give for 2000-XP in 2020 (last drivers for XP in February 2017) Ricoh => They do not offer drivers for 2000-XP in 2020 Samsung => (drivers are provided by HP because HP purchased Samsung Printers Business) Not for 2000-XP in 2020 Xerox => They have drivers for Windows XP in 2020, on some models. Note: Models not available for Windows XP seem to work with the Xerox Universal Drivers for Windows Seven on Windows XP (at least they install perfectly). For example the offered for Xerox Phaser 6510. I am very happy with my HP Laserjet 1018 monochrome printer. I found it in the trash in my neighborhood 5 years ago and it is perfect. No problem, print many sheets at a very low price. Now I was looking to buy a color laser printer, but after what I'm reading, I fell back. It is too large and has little use as well as poor print quality. Especially it is difficult to choose a model online with compatible drivers. Almost better I hope to find it in the trash :-) Edit: I read that Epson is committed to its EcoTank inkjet technology from 2014, ruling out laser printers. In any case, the latest laser models that were put on the market do not come on its website, only the ones prior to 2009 come. It seems that the explanation is that domestic laser printers only exist until 2009. On the Epson Europe page I have found an updated range of professional laser printers compatible with Windows 2000. Its performance is from 50,000 pages per month and its price is monochrome from 120 euros and color from 1660 euros. https://www.epson.eu/products/printers/ In addition I have found that the range of auto-fed scanners is also compatible with Windows 2000. Its performance is from 65 ppm and its price I have not seen less than 800 euros. https://www.epson.eu/products I am glad that Seiko Epson is still compatible with Windows 2000, it is a fact that gives a lot of value to the brand. I complain that all the websites of any manufacturer are becoming more complicated every day, with videos and tutorials without practical use and without schematic comparative information that allows a quick purchase. Today it is very difficult to buy! Furthermore, Epson professional laser printers are only found in Europe and Oceania. Ameria and Asia => Inkjet only. Professional laser printers are not offered on Epson America and Epson Asia websites. Only inkjet are offered. www.epson.com www.epson.jp Europe and Oceania => Laser and inkjet. The series offered in Europe are: Monochrome: -WorkForce AL-M320xx -WorkForce AL-M400xx Color: -Aculaser C-9300xxxx It seems that professional Epson laser printers are only offered in Europe and oceania. www.epson.eu www.epson.es www.epson.com.au www.epson.co.nz

High temperature caution! but the heat sink is cold.
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Hardware Hangout
The strange thing is that I put the thermal paste 4 months ago. Before, I had another processor, a 2800 Mhz. At first I had no problems but for 2 months I have had these problems with 3060 Mhz processor -
Please, Which USB.inf modification do you say?

One of the computers I use still has a Pemtium IV Northwood 3.06 Ghz with Hypertreading. I have it set in the BIOS to notify me when the processor temperature reaches 80º C. As soon as I turn on the computer, in the post the alarm begins to sound. So I open the lid and touch the heat sink, it's completely cold. When I start XP, if I load many programs, the computer freezes (understand by heat) but the heat sink is still cold. Aida 64 indicates 80-85º C and fan 2800 rpm. while other computers with Pentium IV Northwood 2.8 Ghz without HT indicate 35ºC and 4500 rpm fan. Do I have a fan problem or could the temperature sensor be defective?
