The following utilities apparently do TRIM on SDD disk on Windows 2000: -SSD Tweaker pro 3.7.1 (no TRIM free version) Link free version: https://www.cdrinfo.pl/download/500104858/6078/ https://www.3dfxzone.it/programs/?objid=16539 Only the Pro version TRIMs. Unfortunately it doesn't TRIM alone, it TRIMs on an optimization button. Be careful, review the options first to leave them as they were after pressing the button (the options do not affect pressing the button optimization) (depending on the version it require .Net 2, .Net 3.5 or .Net 4.0, the last says .Net 3.5) -Microsoft SSD Tool 0.95 Do not close the program until after a few minutes, until it says end. https://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=66521

the speed of my Kingstom SDD has dropped a lot after 2 years of use. I have done TRIM with Solid State Doctor 3.0.3.2 and it has not improved anything. Then I have found another utility, rudimentary with complicated options, but after doing TRIM the speed has increased 23 Mb/s I don't know if TRIM really improves reading speed The utility is called SDD Tweaker, it works with Windows XP (depending on the version it require .Net 2, .Net 3.5 or .Net 4.0, the last says .Net 3.5) Only the Pro version TRIMs. Unfortunately it doesn't TRIM alone, it TRIMs on an optimization button. Be careful, review the options first to leave them as they were after pressing the button (the options do not affect pressing the button optimization) https://www.elpamsoft.com/?p=SSD-Tweaker In any case, the speed of this SSD disk is now much lower than a mechanical HDD, except for the access time BEFORE SDD TWEAKER AFTER SDD TWEAKER I have also found yet another program that does TRIM on Windows XP, it only works with some hard drives. It's called Naraeon SDD Tools. https://www.naraeon.net/en/latest-naraeon-ssd-tools/ Also the ADATA (maker hardware) utility "SDD Tool Box" works on Windows XP and seems to work on various SSDs Caution, TRIM pretends to work on different units, but it really seems that it only works with ADATA hardware https://www.adata.com/us/support/consumer?tab=downloads Also I have seen Microsoft SDD Tool 0.95 from 2010, I don't know if there are newer versions compatible with XP You do not close the program until after a few minutes, until it says end, although it warns if it is about closing the program before time. https://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=66521

SSD performance degraded after using 2 years
Cixert posted a topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Just 2 years ago today I installed a SSD hard drive Kingston SA400 for the system in a computer with a first generation i3 processor. At first the speed was very high and the tests with HD Tune gave a constant speed of around 175 MB/s (I don't remember exactly). After a year of use the speed dropped to around 115 MB/s and the drive began to show speed fluctuations. Now, after 2 years of use, the speed has dropped to 73 MB/s, reaching speeds typical of PATA disks in Pentium IVs. After doing TRIM the performance is even a bit worse. Unless otherwise explained, my conclusion is that SSDs are slower than HDDs. Here the test -
Updated browser list for Windows XP
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Update including also DC Browser and automatic unofficial installer for roytam1’s New Moon/Basilisk browsers by @i430VX Download here: http://i430vx.net/files/XP/RoyTam But I do not see that it installed some browser on my computer. This automatically downloads Roytam1's Browser, this seems to unzip the 7ZIP file but then it gives error. "ICACLS" is not recognized as an external or internal command, program or enforceable batch file. Error creating direct access and nothing else happens despite the fact that the installer says everything ok. My system is Spanish language and my XP is installed on drive D:- 81 replies

Windows 2000 does not find Drivers for USB storage devices
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Solved! I have been thinking that generic volume could be at "volume.inf" or "usb.inf" in WINNT/inf but on this route I encounter with surprise that these files do not exist. Then I copy the WINNT/inf folder from another Windows 2000 installation and paste it into another hard drive folder on the computer with problems. After inserting a storage device I say to Windows that volume.inf is the driver. But Windows says it is not a valid driver, then Windows thinks that usbstor.inf is a valid driver. Finally after installing usbstor.inf & it finds usbstor.sys on WINNT/system32/driver then the USB storage device starts working. I ask, how is it possible to disappear *.inf files on WINNT/inf ? I find missing 136 files type *.inf on WINNT/inf. I am sure that they were there before, because instead of installing I paste the same system images into all computers. -
In a new installation I have all the drivers well installed in the Device Manager. The USB 2.0 is SiS chipset. Now I insert a storage device into the USB port. Then Windows 2000 says a new device has been found. When I press the next button, Windows 2000 does not automatically find a driver to install. Where can I find the USB Storage Massive Class driver? In another previous installation I had no problems on this computer, but then I had introduced the USB device before installing the SiS USB 2.0 driver.

Sessions copies disappear I have Tab Session Manager installed in "360 Extreme Explorer" as an extension to recover tabs in case of system failure, although I often use the combination "control+shift+T" to restore tabs when they are closed randomly. However, every few months when I get a blue screen or crash, "control+shift+T" stops working, so that's when I start working with Tab Session Manager. But when I open the extension there are no saved browsing sessions, they are all gone. This has always happened to me when I have the problem, so the extension does not work for me. I would like to know how to recover these lost sessions, both the copies saved in Chrome folders and the copies saved by Tab Session Manager. Do you know an extension to save tabs that does work?

Windows XP does not start after entering Kingston USB Pencil
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Windows XP
I paste the WK3 Drivers USB "disk.sys" and "partmgr.sys" in \ Windows \ System32 \ Drivers \ Windows \ System32 \ dllcache Both with version 5.2.3790.3959 I have also tried version 5.2.3790.1830 The result is the same. Windows is blocked by restarting the system after entering a new pendrive. -
Update, Windows XP stops starting when a new USB pencil with Windows 2003 installed drivers is inserted

Windows XP does not start after entering Kingston USB Pencil
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Windows XP
How many gigas do those USB pendrive have? I also have the 16 GB and this does work perfectly. They are 32 and 64 GB those that do not work. I have tried to format the pendrive with FAT32. I have not tried to fill in sector 0 with zeros. But Windows XP does not start without the inserted USB pendrive. I insert the pendrive, the drivers are installed, remove the pendrive and then Windows XP no longer starts. Edit, Solved: The problem was in Windows 2003 USB Drivers. I had not installed them for the 8 GIB RAM compatibility, as I mentioned earlier, but I had installed them to read GPT discs as indicated in this post. The problem appears when Windows XP has to read new USB pendrive and install the drivers, then Windows XP is not able to start. However if the pendrive is installed with the original Windows XP drivers and then the Windows 2003 Drivers are installed, the system works correctly until a new pendrive is inserted and you have to reinstall the drivers for the pendrive. -
Windows XP does not start after entering Kingston USB Pencil
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Windows XP
I do not think it's a USB devices collapse problem. The error occurs on all computed with Windows XP, I have verified the same problem on 5 Windows XP computers. I insert the USB pencil, the system installs the drivers and asks to restart. When I restart the BIOS works perfectly, it is Windows XP that freezes on the logo screen. In the Device Manager when inserting the pen, it appears: -Al Mass Storage USB Device With the Microsoft driver Disk.sys 5.1.2600.5512. partmgr.sys 5.2.3790.3959. But, oh surprise, I just saw that partmgr.sys is from Windows 2003, I have 8 GIB RAM installed and the Windows 2003 USB patch In any case in other computers that I do not have this patch installed I have the same problem. If I insert the DTSE9 model with 16 GB RAM that works perfectly, the same driver appears but the device administrator says the name Kingston USB 2.0 Data Traveler instead of Al Mass Storage USB Device -
Usually I introduce USB storage devices from different manufacturers without any problem. I liked the Kingston DTSE9 model by how comfortable it is to take it on the keychain without breaking. I have a 16 GB storage model, as it is a bit scarce I bought other two same model USB 2.0 pencils with 32 Gb and 64Gb. Then I checked that when I enter them on any computer with Windows XP, the device installation is produced but when restarting the operating system does not start. Windows XP is frozen on the logo screen. I get Windows XP with F8, choosing last well-known configuration. I have requested Kingston assistance. They kindly sent me a substitution model but surprise, the same problem is repeated. They have sent me the model DT micro 3.1 I indicate that other pencils 32 Gb USB Kingston work without problems.

I have the same problem with the certificates on version 13. On versions 12 and 11 I haven't problems with the certificates. I have the root certificates updated by various methods. Most sites cannot make a secure connection despite the fact that the certificates are up to date. Sometimes it is solved by manually installing an intermediate certificate. But in the case of MSFN forum site all the certificates are correct, however the secure connection does not occur. v12 capture v13 capture Web site unsafe connect unsafe connect Edit: I have done more tests: On MSFN.org 2 identical unzipped versions of the mod by Humming Owl A works https Another does not work https I have checked the settings and put it identical on both. Nothing has changed, one works and another doesn't. I've also tried installing the original Chinese version and it doesn't show https either On sites with problems with intermediate certificates Neither browser v13 connects with intermediate certificates

360 Extreme Explorer Modified Version
Cixert replied to Humming Owl's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
When I first start 360 Extreme Explorer english mod the browser won't let me touch any option or click anywhere. A beep sounds like the one that sounds when another window is open and you can't touch anything. To close 360 I have to force the closing with the Windows task explorer. When I open 360 for the second time everything seems to work fine.- 2,340 replies

Updated browser list for Windows XP
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
The website www.clivetownsend.com works perfectly for me. I have Java 8 uptate 25 installed in Windows XP (compilation 1.8.0_25-b18). It is better that you consult the specific forum for the 360 browser. https://msfn.org/board/topic/182304-extreme-explorer-360-chromium-78-86-general-discussion/- 81 replies

Updated browser list for Windows XP
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I have tried Kafan MiniBrowser. It works fine but has a problem with the RAM. Computer 1: Pentium 4 with 2 GiB RAM & PATA Disk: This only works fast up to a maximum of 5 tabs open at the same time (approximate according to web size). From there it starts working with virtual memory and you may have to wait 15 minutes when opening new pages for it to load virtual memory on the PATA hard drive. Computer 2: Core i3 with 8 GiB RAM & SSD disk: In this computer I have the Windows virtual memory disabled. This works well up to a maximum of 25 tabs open at the same time (approximate according to web size). From there it reaches the 8 GiB RAM limit, at which point the result is unpredictable: -Mini Browser Freeze -Blue screen -Windows XP processes are closed- 81 replies

Updated browser list for Windows XP
Cixert replied to Cixert's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I see now this option but it says only available in Ultimate version http://www.avantbrowser.com/download.aspx?uil=en When I install ultimate version again I don't see the option. Also, I can't navigate the Internet. Edit: The option only appears after pressing the options menu, clicking on the rendering engine, switching to Internet Explorer and after opening a web page compatible with Internet Explorer such as www.google.com Now that I see the option it just shows me: -Internet Explorer -Firefox It doesn't show me Chrome. When I try to choose Firefox it does not allow me. Some time ago I tried this browser and I think the last full version compatible with Windows XP is from a few years ago. And beware, this changes the Internet Explorer home page automatically.- 81 replies
